    My Trip Report

Well I just got back from my Vegas honeymoon (and first trip to Vegas) at 1:30 this morning. And after 6 days in Sin City I can only say that I will be back!

Well I decided to surprise the wife with a limo from the airport (used Las Vegas Limo), so I was praying that the ground transportation was in same area as baggage claim as to not raise suspicions. Luckily it was in the same place and our driver, Ed, was already there waiting for us. My wife loved the surprise and Ed was great. Gave us a very detailed tour of the strip, took our picture at the sign, and dropped us off at THE Hotel in under an hour...definetly glad I did it.

Accomidations: THE Hotel was awesome (kind of bummed I am back home [IMG] ) and would definetly recommend it to others. Loved the TV in the bathroom and my wife loved the relaxing tub. Only downside was that it was so far away from everything else being so far down strip.

Food: Our first night we had dinner at Delmonico's (their service was amazing...fast, elegant, and very friendly). It was pricey but definetly worth it and I plan to eat there again on our next Vegas trip. Overall, the food was very good. I was amazed by the speed you get served for such high quality food. The buffets we ate at were Paris for bfast, Bellagio for lunch, and Rio seafood buffet (the coupon from Harrah's saved us $20!!). We also ate at Burger Bar (Kobe burger was awesome) and varioius other local establishments.

For entertainment we gambled (BJ, slots, and some craps) and I am sad to say I lost all $200 of my money while the wife finished with $70 left (guess nickel and penny slots the way to go!). We watched Mystere on our last night and what a great show (couldnt understand the story but the acts were amazing...one of the artists got hurt with what seemed a sprained ankle so hopefully he will be ok).

So overall, great trip and will definetly go back but next time probably go with family or friends. Definetly a social place in the middle of nowhere.

Funny moment of my stay: During first time venturing to North Strip (around Strat) a commuter asked me if I was interested in some hash. Made me and the wife laugh. Definetly showed the differences btwn the 2 sides of the strip. (I of course turned him down [IMG] )

Downside to trip: Annoying stripper flyers and people trying to get you to sign up for timeshares. Some of these people can get quite rude if you dont want to talk to them. Just leave me alone please!

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful help and suggestions. Definetly made my trip much more enjoyable being so informed.

Best hash is actually downtown, at the Bay City diner... oh, wait, never mind. My bad.

Sounds like it was a great trip, only problem is -- I don't think you can go back! I mean theHotel and Delmonico, pretty hard to top that one...

Porn slappers do not bother me as much as the timeshare people. Timeshare people will chase after you and not give up,a wave of the hand wil at least get the porn people away.
Congrats on the wedding and you will have a lot more to check out in vegas.

Sounds like a great trip. Each time I return to Vegas my overall budget stays pretty consistent the big difference is that I'm spending less on hotel (Bellagio fist time, Aladdin, NYNY, now Harrahs' this time) and more on the fun stuff (eating and gaming!)

Agreed!!! I swear some of those timescare hacks are trying to pick fights. How rude!! Ignoring them is the best way to handle it.

Glad to see you had a good time. Really though, crime can strike no matter where you maybe. One of the worse spots for pickpockets is by the TI for the pirate show.

    Thanks for posting

Actually, to rid yourself of timeshare people, tell them you are from New Zealand, Australia, or Belgium. They only want American and Canadians.

In fact, one was salivating as she made her pitch to us (we couldn't seem to escape), and after investing all that time in us, she discovered we were living in Belgium, then she just turned her back on us! She was so rude, it was funny. Now I just say, "I don't live in the States" and they leave me alone, despite my Canadian accent. If you can master "je ne comprend pas" or "Ich verstehen Sie nicht", that works too - for all the street hawkers. None have managed to come back to me in French, German, or Dutch yet.

When they ask (as they invariably do) if you're
married, answer "Yes, but not to each other".

    That usually sends 'em away.

Saying you're gay makes 'em run away too.

I have been trying to think of a way to get around the timeshare "vultures" when I go to Vegas in July. This is my best idea. If they don't take a hint by me saying NO THANKS and do not leave me alone I would whip out a really vulgar scented perfume or cologne and ask them if they would like to try a sample? If they didn't get my "meaning" they would end up smelling not so nice for the other tourists that day. Of course, while that would make me feel better it might get me into trouble. Oh well, I'm not going to let them ruin my trip or keep me away. I'm glad you had a great honeymoon!

My "ignore" feature must be set to high--I've never been trapped or bothered by timeshare people in Vegas. I don't even acknowledge they're there, therefore I don't have to say no or come up with any excuses for them to stop bugging us....

They seem to gravitate towards me like vultures. Maybe because I go in off seasons. Or I'm in there demographics.

Oh, they approach us--I just meant that I ignore them completely. We're a couple in our 30s--so we're their demographic as well. But.....
