    My Trip Report

Alright so I wasn't able to do a live trip report like I had expected but I'll post my full report now.

    -Ti-
We landed on the 7th after a cramped spirit flight at 5 vegas time. We got a shuttle to Treasure Island. I put a 20$ sandwich together and it worked like a charm. We got exactly what I asked for, a high floor with a view towards the Mirage. Floor 35 perfect view. We got unpacked and had to get some food.

    -Kahunaville-
We had 2 for 1 coupons for Entrees and Drinks at Kahunaville so we went there. I've had it before so I knew what to expect. I ordered some Shrimp Pasta dish and my lady ordered Chicken Parm, both were large portioned and very tasty. The service was great. We drank Rum Runners because I loved them on our last trip. The bartenders put on a show and the drinks are about 10$. 2 for 1 coupons are easy to find.

    -Mystere-
We had tix to the 9:30 show at Mystere. I got great seats thanks to this board. Got free popcorn from their first skit. Enjoyed the show. The stage was great and the performance looked flawless. Was very happy with the ticket purchase. Am going to buy tix to the Michael Jackson Cirque in Detroit.

After Mystere we went and gambled a little bit in TI. Found the slot machines I wanted. I don't like to play slots but if I am going to I prefer to play a Top Dollar machine. Found a cool one right by the elevator to our room, Top Dollar Deluxe 25cents 15 lines. I sat down put in 60$ and ordered our first drinks. Hit the top dollar machine for a 300$ payout and decided it was time to go out drinking.

Headed to Flamingo/Bills area. Went into Casino Royale for $1 Michelob. The place was super smelly so quickly headed out. Went down to Bills and played some craps. Girlfriend swears I only lost 80$ playing craps but I thought I lost more. I was pretty drunk, had 3 or 4 drinks on the plane so I had a head start. Was tired so headed back to the room.

    -IP/Caesars-
Woke up and wanted to get breakfast at Hash House down at IP. Wait was 45 minutes so I said never mind and got burger king, I just wanted something quick. Got terrible food but oh well. Left IP and walked the strip a little bit. Went over to Caesars to check it out. Last time I didn't get to see the property. Just checked it out and let the fiancee walk the forum shops. The weather was beautiful so we decided we wanted to hit the pool.

    -TI pool-
It wasn't really that warm but since we came from 30 temps it was warm for us. It was 70 with some gusty winds at times. I wasn't down to swim but enjoyed the Hot Tub. Decided to start drinking and charged some drinks to the room. Kahunaville does poolside service but they don’t accept coupons on the pool deck. Got 2 small drinks but they packed a punch. The bartender made them tasty and strong so he got a nice tip. Decided to order the biggest drink a little bit later and got a large Rum Runner again. Got a great buzz going and had a great time at the pool. Got some sun and wanted to get some food.

    -Buffet/Mirage-
Took the tram to the Mirage for some food. Had a 2 for 1 buffet coupon so wanted to use that. The buffet was alright. I was excited when I first got in and seen what they had to offer but the food wasn't that great. The prime rib was decent and so were a few other dishes. Decided it was time to play some blackjack. Lost 150 and decided it was time to go. I wasn't hitting anything. The dealer was very nice though. He was a former Detroit resident so he had a lot of questions for me. Decided it was time to head over to Planet Hollywood since I had peepshow tix.

    -New Sugar Factory at Paris-
On the walk the girl had to stop at the new Sugar factory at Paris. Place was packed. I bullshitted with an employee while the girl shopped. Thank god she only bought a Couture Pop for 25$. Nice decorative sucker I guess lol. They informed me don't worry the one in the window is 1.7 million. That's some bling.

    -Peepshow-
Went to Planet Hollywood and ordered 2 drinks at the bar. Oops way expensive here but oh well. Checked out the Casino and played some slots while we waited. Really just wanted drink service and pass the time. Time for Peepshow. Had great seats to all my shows, researched them all on this board. The show was alright. I thought the storyteller character was funny and talented. Holly was much thicker than I thought. She looked good but bigger than I expected. I was glad I got the tix for under $50 because it just wasn't all that for me.

Planned on heading to Rockbar in front of IP but I wasn't willing to pay their cover. They had sent me a text that said free admission. I got their and they said I couldn't since it was after 12. So I said screw you and headed down to Carnival Court.

    -Carnival Court-
Bought a ton of drinks and danced my ass off with the girlfriend. She was hammered and dancing her ass off. The bartender was on top of the bar pouring free shots into peoples mouths. I threw a 10$ in the air to make sure I got one. She poured, poured, and poured, the crowd was cheering and I just wouldn't stop. It tasted like juice so it was no problem to keep going. Fiancee slapped me jacket and ended my run, I was bummed :(, everyone was giving me fist pounds as I stumbled away lol. The long shot did the trick though I was smashed at this point. I probably spent 150$ on drinks/tips. Met a couple while dancing and we went back to their room at IP to enjoy some herb. It was 4:30 vegas time, so 7:30 home time and I was exhausted after this and we wanted to go back to the room. Took a cab to TI even though 3 cabs turned me down first saying it was to close. I knew the hotel looked close but was still a drunk walk I didn't want to take. Gave the guy 15$ on a 5$ dollar cab ride so he was happy he did it. Stumbled up to the room. Was a hazy night. Woke up to my table just a mess lol. Had an awesome time at Carnival Court.

    -TI again-
Woke up feeling like death, bummer. It was early but I couldn't fall back asleep. I threw up a couple of times and felt a little bit better. The girl was taking a shower so I decided to go down to the casino floor. I went back to that Top Dollar machine and put in 100$. Was up and down for a little then lost it all. Threw $40 more bucks in and first pull boom bonus round x2. Won 250$ so I was happy. Played some more and kept winning. Got up over 400$ but lost a little back. Cashed out with 325$. Loving this slot machine!! Went back to the room and got our stuff ready to checkout. We checked out and had 2 hours to kill before our limo would arrive.

    -Kahunaville Breakfast-
I ordered Belgian Waffles. They looked amazing, but after 2 bites I couldn't bear to eat them. Just felt to terrible from the drinking and to much sun at the pool. The waitress could see my pain and brought me a plate of fresh strawberries. I was able to stomach a couple and appreciated it. Went to get some fresh air poolside. Hung out and talked to some people we had met the day before for awhile. Limo from The Tropicana arrived at 12:45 and I was happy to see it.

    -Penthouse Loft at Tropicana-
I was feeling a bit better and enjoyed the limo ride. The day was beautiful. Checked in to our room quickly and easily. The room was gorgeous. Was on the top floor and had a ton of great views. Room had 2 large flatscreens, 1 master and 1 half. The master was amazing. Jet tub, big glass door shower, 2 sinks, separate door for toilet/bidet. Got into the big hot tub in our room and enjoyed that. Wanted to head over to Luxor to get my tix for Carrot Top because I had booked them through a promotion and hadn't gotten actual seats yet.

    -Luxor-
Walked from Trop through Excalibur to get to Luxor. Found the ticket booth and got ours seats. 2nd row right in the middle... Like I said great seats all trip. I think I payed 50$ a piece for the seats. I wanted to try and eat again and used my MGM express comps to eat at Luxor's Pyramid Cafe. The food was actually really good. I ordered a chicken pot pie and it was delicious. Very quick and good service. Girlfriend ordered spaghetti and she enjoyed it also. I was glad I was able to have some food. I decided I needed a nap, I usually wouldn't but I had to feel better. So I took some medicine and slept till about 6. I woke up and felt better, awesome. Went back to Luxor to play a little. Girlfriend wanted to play some roulette so we did that. Lost 50$ but it took a while so I was happy. Went and found a different Top Dollar machine and didn't like it nearly as much. Lost like 40 bucks but wasted the time.

I don't know why but I just wasn't in a serious gambling mood this trip, I brought a lot bigger bankroll for the money I was spending. I think it was because I was with my girlfriend the whole trip and the games she knows are the worst ones. It's alright, I can play at the MGM here whenever I want.

    -Carrot Top-
Was directly eye level will Carrot Top almost the whole show. The show was AMAZING! I enjoyed it far better than Peepshow and better than Mystere. It was current with many Charlie Sheen jokes/props and some other bits. I only seen a couple bits that I already knew. I laughed the whole time and he engaged the audience well and on the fly. Glad I made Carrot Top my Comedic choice this trip. Next time will catch Penn and Teller.

    -MGM-
We stayed at MGM last time so I knew the property pretty well. We went and played the big Deal or No Deal machine. We played for a long time and got a couple drinks. They were still kind of hard to swallow. We had fun and won 40$ bucks. We didn't really wanna play anymore so we took the small win.

    -Tropicana-
Decided to go back to The Trop and check out all the new renovations. Played the Monopoly slots since I was having my best luck on the machines. Hated this one lost a quick 100$. The casino looked great and there was plenty of action. Sports book was very nice. It was much nicer than the one at MGM. Got a couple of drinks and wanted to enjoy the hot tub in our room again. We spent some great time together with some music, drinks, and the hot tub. I got a call from the people we had met while staying at TI and they wanted to come down and hang out. They were virgins to the city and I was teaching them a lot after I learned they didn't know what a Players card is, were already down quite a bit, and payed 700$ for 4 of them to stay in a regular room at Ti, not even a view of the strip. I gave them the knowledge of Vegas Message Board and schooled them a little bit. They came down to the Trop and we hung out at the casino for a little bit. They had to come check out the room and couldn't believe they were paying more than I was lol. Gave them my copy of LVA after ripping out the 2 for 1ed to PH buffet. They will know better on their next trip. We smoked out the master bathroom and laughed and talked for a bit. They were really cool and we added each other up on Facebook. They took off and it was time to call it a night.

Had late checkout at 12 so enjoyed the hot tub for the 3rd time. Once again I loved this room. We checked out and checked our bags till the red eye flight.

Went to the Sports book at Tropicana and placed my bet on The Detroit Lions to win The Super Bowl. Put down 50$ with 40/1 odds. Yes I know this is a huge long shot, I don't care. Go Lions!!!

We walked down to PH to eat the buffet and check out the Miracle Mile shops.

    -Buffet at PH-
Used our coupon and saved 20$ on lunch buffet. The PH Buffet was great! I enjoyed it much better than the Mirage. I didn't enjoy the ground beef in my Italian but whatever, I just got something else. I would choose PH buffet over Mirage, MGM, IP, Paris, and Rio, the other buffets I have tried in town.

    -Miracle Mile Shops-
The shops were pretty cool but didn't really see anything I liked. Bought a couple of gifts for people and just checked them out since I haven't seen them before. Went into the casino and played some Deal or No Deal again and lost like 30 bucks. I like this game because it's got the excitement and it takes a long time without a lot of money.

The feet were blistered and killing me so I wanted to just go sit and relax somewhere for awhile. Went back to the sportsbook at the Trop and watched some games.

    -Tropicana Mob Experience-
Saw a really good Sam “Ace†Rothstein impersonator walking around the floor at The Tropicana. Thought alright I gotta check this out. They said it was only 90% done but the price was reduced to 10$. We got to walk back and see more renovations being done to The Trop. They are suppose to be done by next month so I took a bunch of pictures so everyone can check out the work they are doing. It really was a great property, I will probably be staying there on my next trip. The mob experience was really well done and well worth it. I don't want to ruin the interactive story but i'll tell you what to expect.

It's an interactive tour with both actors and technology. Many different locations are featured. Lots of great characters, really impressed. Theres a large museum with a ton of great history. It was amazing to see the story behind The Flamingo and Stardust. Check out all kinds of cool mob artifacts. Knives, Pistols, Death Threats, Stolen Jewels, all kinds of different things. I really enjoyed this and read every single sign. There were a ton but every one was interest. The museum was set up great and only a few things weren't filled yet. There is a movie theater showing some mob history on the making of the Godfather. Watched that and learned a lot of history I never knew. Was a bunch of rooms on the history of the stardust and the translation into the movie Casino. Loved it. There was more. For anyone that is into old vegas history, mob history, or the mob movies I highly recommend this attraction. It was long and well worth the price of admission.

Went back to the Trop casino and remember I had a matchplay coupon. Used it on some roulette and kept on playing. Ordered a couple of drinks and was on a nice roll. I got up a few hundred dollars but kept on raising my bets. I was stacking about 30$ a spin on the inside and was hitting. They got a new girl and then it all started heading back lol. I had colored up 2 blacks so I didn't care, only reason I even bought in was for the match play coupon. Decided to check out NYNY for awhile. Went and got some big frozen drinks and played some more Top Dollar Slots. I won 60$ bucks and decided it was time to get some food. The girlfriend wanted Nathans Famous Hot Dogs and I was cool with it since I just wanted a quick bite. Went to the Nathans at MGM and got some food. Decided to head back to the Trop and head for the airport.

Got our bags and got in a cab to the airport. No limo on the way out. The host actually called me earlier in the day and said with the cheap rates I booked the room (200$), the limo wasn't included with that. He said he arranged the limo from TI as a gift and thanked me for staying at The Tropicana. I told him how much I enjoyed the property and the turn around from 8 months ago. I told him I would be giving him a call in a couple of months to set up my bachelor party and he said it would be his pleasure. He was super nice and took the time to take care of me even though I didn't play to much. This is why i'll be coming back to The Trop.

    -Spirit Air-
Spirit flight was delayed an hour and a half and I was miserable. The landing was botched since it was snowing in Detroit and we had to go back up. I wasn't to worried but some passengers were flipping out. The girl directly behind me for sure. It took us an extra 20 minutes before we could land, they had to clear the runway of ice. It took forever to get our bags and I hate flying spirit. I will go back to booking Southwest or Delta but don't care for Spirit. 9* fare club better offer me some true 9* fares to make me fly with them again.

Anyways the trip was a great time. Spent some wonderful time with my fiancee alone, we got engaged at the Venetian last May so Vegas is our city. I came home with a ton of money leftover so the trip was a big success even though I didn't have any big wins. I planned on gambling a lot more but like I said just wasn't feeling it. It was a great trip. Hope everyone enjoyed the report. Any questions feel free to ask. Pictures to come soon I gotta resize them for upload. I'm still jet lagged and just glad I got this typed up right now.

Nice report, I was in the Trop today.

Didn't do the mob thing, I should have though.

Found the coconut scent pretty harsh but love the renovations. Did you notice they are doing the outside of the towers too?

They must be spending a bundle on the place.

    Thanks for the Report!!

That was a good read--sounds like a fun trip.

We played at the Trop last week--the people there were very nice. We'll book there on our next trip.

I think my old nose is letting me down...maybe for my own good??? I did smell a distinct aroma in V/P and Trop (among others), but it wasn't overwhelming in any way as many describe it. I also played for hours at Casino Royale and I did not notice any of the bad smells people mention...

Anyway, thanks again for the report!!

Thanks for the TR. We'll be staying at the Trop in October, and hearing lots of positive things about the place. $200 for the Penthouse Loft was a steal.

I didn't notice any overwhelming smell inside The Trop. I thought it smelled fresh and it wasn't over powering at all. Casino Royale on the other hand was a stinker.

They are realy re doing everything at The Trop. I liked the brightness and style of the Casino, was really nice.

I'm going to post some more random trip pics here. I tried keeping the rest above in order.

Nice TR, I also thought the Trop renovations really improved the property. Too bad the Sahara never followed through with their planned remodel.

Great TR - thanks for all the useful information! Definitely going to check out the Trop & the Mob Experience on our next trip & use the your info & the info Dewey gave us all on the "even the odds" deal at the Trop.

Have a great time at your bachelor party in a few months. Your host ought to give you some extra comps for the new business you just generated on this board! Your GF is adorable.

Very nice TR. I am planning on seeing the LV Mob Experience next month. How long did it take you from start to finish?
I will pull for your Lions as long as Stafford is the one pulling the trigger.

The mob experience took me about an hour. It really could take you as long as you wanted depending on how much you get into the exhibits. There is no photos inside or I would have some for everyone. And yeah Go Lions!
