    My Trip Report

Leaving on Tuesday but as Beejay used to say, the trip really starts once plans are finalized and the anticipation begins. This will be my first SOLO trip so I am a little worried about looking weird or out of place. This TR will be LIVE all the way to the end.

    Some key points

    1. First stay at PH. Rolling in a partially comped Hollywood Hip room.

    2. Funds will be limited. No $2,000 splashes just for kicks.

    3. Drinking is still questionable. Haven't had a sip since before Thanksgiving where I was drugged at a local strip club and found my checking account in the negative. At the time I was severely depressed and unemployed. Would like to have a glass of Veuve or two while gaming but don't want any hangovers and don't want the feeling of being DRUNK.

    4. I only play table games. Mostly roulette and baccarat with some craps mixed in.

    5. Would like to see the Sinatra show. Not sure if going solo will limit the experience.

    6. Trying to meet people. I guess this might be where clubs come in but I guess I'll try to strike up convo's at the tables to have people to go with.

***Any solo tips would be appreciated.

Now I gotta find a kennel or family member to watch my puppy. Would have liked to take her in the PetStay rooms but she would definitely trash the room.

Looking forward to hearing all about your trip! I see you are from Chicago, what airline are you going on? We have a trip planned for July and still trying to find a good deal on airfare.

    I like going solo

Any show you want to see? You just walk up and say you are a single and do they have any single seats close to the stage.

Clubs when solo? I don't think so. I would hang out in one of the bars near the club, before the club opens. Easier for a conversation and you get the pre club people.

Best place to meet people when solo? The pool. But since you will out there tomorrow, the pool is NOT the place to be. Probably is not even open yet.

Meals are easy. You eat when you want to eat and where you want to eat. No discussion.

I still drink like a fish when I am solo. I have never worried about being drugged or when I leave the table for a potty break my chips being stolen. Even at casinos where I am just in there for the first time.

I strike up conversations with anyone, anywhere. Walking around I talk to anyone else that is solo. There are other people out solo also that will strike up a conversation with you.

Watch out when you buy a drink for a woman or two women sitting at the bar. They might be extra resort fee lady types.

SW with a 15% off coupon code I bought off eBay for $6. Pretty good coupon since I paid $6 and saved over $50.

I'm debating about boycotting Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo this trip. I know my trip plans were short notice but even last year I booked a comped room at Venetian DAY OF. I know, my small bankroll won't even matter to these places but it's just a matter of principal.

I'm used to being shafted on comps from MGM/Mirage, so that's nothing new.

I've never even used my HET or is it CET card in Vegas but started the card at Ceasars Windsor in Canada. They seem generous on comps so far or maybe they are courting me like Wynn did...:nono:

CET is generous with rooms. V/P said no more rooms for anyone but high rollers. I will not set foot in their till their management changes. I'm going to vegas solo too, but I enjoy travelling single. Just talk and people respond well. Especially while on vacation everyone is having fun. Just don't intrude and enjoy the company of who you are with.

Is that Sands Corp way of trying to increase the value of their rooms? I doubt it will work. The Venetian is getting old. Wow, if they didn't have that convention center, they would be screwed.

Just printed my SW boarding pass. Group B. How does my seat selection look? First time in years flying SW. I prefer United because you can usually score last minute upgrades to Business or First which I like. The extra attention helps with my FOF (Fear of Flying). I hope the flight is smooth. I don't want to be drugged with Klonopin before I get there. I do have an Rx.

You should get a window or isle seat with a b pass.

I just did the solo trip. Word of advice, you will have hookers trying to pick you up, they will ask if your looking for company, you say yes (just because you want company) then they try to negotiate the price, that's when i said I did not want that kind of company. I ate solo and felt ok. There were times I felt out of place being solo but I was able to strike up conversation with quite a few people, even just walking down the strip. I had an elderly couple walking north near the riveria ask me if I would walk with them a ways since the area is a bit run down and they felt unsafe, I was glad to ensure their safety.

    Enjoy the trip.

Well that's good. I prefer aisle to window. I hope my flight is not delayed or canceled as it's snowing in Denver. Just got over a cold and hope the lingering congestion doesn't prevent my ears from clearing. Can't wait to get there!

Should be interesting as I am a natural introvert. I'm not afraid of social situations but going up to a group of hotties is a little intimidating.

Is CET like MGM/Mirage where you can charge anything to your room at ANY CET property? Also, does play at all CET properties count toward my stay at PH?

Shouldn't need to worry too much about snow in Denver. They're not getting that much.

I may be in the minority, but I really love going somewhere solo! It means you can approach people - any people - without worrying at all about looking like a goof in front of someone you know.

You can walk up to a girl and get turned down, and no one will be the wiser! Or you can go up to a bunch of dudes watching the hockey game and start shooting the $h!t with them and it's all good!

Best of luck, have a blast!
    :)

Maybe it will give me some time to do like a YouTube live TR. I definitely plan on showing off my room haha. Go PH!!!

I wonder what my chances are for AT LEAST a Hollywood Hip Strip View upgrade. I'll use all the Frank Abignale tricks I know lol

For all those watching, answers to my previous questions would help a ton.

I was there two weeks ago and the $20 trick got me upgraded from a Hollywood Hip room facing the back to a Resort room facing the Strip with a view of the fountains. Good luck!

I'm following your solo trip also. I'm going out solo for one night before my company meeting. Plans for a friend to go with me fell through and my husband can't get away from work. I won't get much time to play (i.e. gamble) during my company meeting so I wanted to go out a day early to get my "fix" - ha ha. I'm a little anxious about being solo after my friend can't come, but on the other hand I think it will be fine. I mostly play at the poker tables and will be able to do whatever I want whenever I want.... :)

$20 trick is up in the air right now. The only time it ever worked was a couple years ago at the Wynn. I think I'll try something more creative like just broke up with my girlfriend or first time at PH... Any complementary upgrades?

At DEN right now. Snow has pretty much melted but it's around 28 degrees. Had to park WAY out in the economy lot but security was fast. No weird screening for me. Now time to get the hang of this weird SW line system.

Pulled $600 cash from the ATM. Not sure what I'm going to play tonight. I'd like to be at $1,200 by the end of the night but breaking even is fine, too. SW flight #420 for anyone who wants to track the flight.

    Pics and videos to come!

Saw your plane leave Houston this morning...

I was at the Houston Hobby Airport Hilton this morning and was thinking of taking an earlier flight home to Chicago, but stuck with my 11:35 departure, but I was up and looking over at the runway at 6:25 when the earlier flight took off. How does this relate to your post and trip? I just checked your flight tracker and see that the plane you are currently on was the 6:25 that originated in Houston...hope this bit of useless knowledge is taken as a sign of great luck for you this trip! Look forward to your updates!
