    My Trip Report

This was my second trip to Las Vegas and we had a great time...can't wait to go back again.

    Travel:
We left Cleveland on Sunday Dec 14 and our plane was delayed about 1.5 hrs due to bad weather. We were supposed ot depart at 1pm est but didnt leave until 2:30pm. Other than the delay the flight went smoothly and we arrived in Vegas around 4pm vegas time.

    Hotel:
We had booked the $69 a night promotion package at The Mirage for 5 nights. That also got us a $20 food and beverage credit, 2 free tickets to the Dolphin habitat and secret garden, a stuffed white tiger(ended up being one of those funny looking ones with the long legs...still cute though), and a premium view upgrade.
We were going to try the $20 trick but got a young girl at check in and she seemed a little nervous so we didn't bother. She gave us a volcano view and then I asked about the pool view. She said she could change it if we liked. We almost did but decided not to bother as we were anxious to get going.
We got to our room and we were very happy with it. It was very clean and comfortable. Yes the bathroom is VERY small as others have said but it was very clean and nice all the same. I'll post some pics further down and you'll be able to see the little I was able to take a pic of.

    Dining out:
Our greatest dining experience was Emeril's Delmonico steakhouse.....one word...OMG!!!
Everything was awesome. IF you decide to go make sure you are very hungry.
We both ordered the bone in rib eye. I have never seen such a huge steak in my life. I don't even think I was able to eat half of it. It was cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth. We also ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer, the caesar salad which they make right beside your table from scratch, garlic mashed potatoes which are to die for, and one of the cheaper bottles of wine we would find for $40. They had some bottles of wine on the list for well over $3000.
For 2 of us the meal came to $180 and we left a $50 tip. THe service was outstanding. We had about 3 people waiting on us. If we took even one sip of water someone was over to refill the glass. When we pulled out a acigarette the waiter was over to light it in a flash.
I highly recommend treating yourself to this restaurant.

    Downtown:
We did not make it downtown on our last trip so we had to see it this time. It is so different than the strip which i'm sure you all know. I have to say I did not enjoy it too much though and was anxious to get back to the strip. We played some blackjack at the GOlden nugget and then watched the light show and left.

    Gambling:
We only play blackjack and tried out many of the Casinos on the strip. I did pretty good at the Mirage a few times, but we had our best luck at the Bellagio and Venetian.

Overall the trip was awesome and we can't wait to go back again.

Here is a link to a few of the pics we took.

Thanks for the Vegas "fix". I like your pictures! I know we are in the minority on this board, but I also feel that downtown isn't "all that" and prefer either the Strip or the off-Strip properties like Sunset Station. I don't hate it by any means, but it just doesn't do it for me. I think I feel slightly claustrophobic there.

Some random comments: Your room at The Mirage resembles the one we had at Golden Nugget in May of 2002. $50 on a $180 tab - you guys are pretty good tippers! [IMG] Did you win anything playing blackjack?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We leave from Dayton, Ohio, the day after Christmas and can't wait. It keep checking the internet for pictures and the weather. Right now, I'm doing the laundry and beginning to pack the suitcases. We leave for Dayton on Monday morning to spend Christmas with the family and we need two sets of clothing--one for Ohio weather and one for Las Vegas weather.

Did I remember to say thank you for posting your pics? I'll probably look at them ten times today.

    Nice pictures!

That shot of the Eiffel Tower at night with the tree branches framing the shot looks pretty cool!
