    My Trip Report

Ok, here goes my first trip report…..Sun. Nov.23rd- Thu. Nov.27th. Hubby (Buddy) and myself. Up at 2 a.m. couldn’t sleep..Depart Sarasota Fl. At 7a.m. Decided I didn’t want to be half in the wrapper arriving in Vegas, so no alcohol on the plane. :D Right..NOT. Break out the minis and it’s bloody mary time and we are off. Arrive Vegas about 11:30 a.m. Go to the airport check in for Paris. Told the girl it was our 30th wedding anniversary and could we have a free upgrade if possible, a P room. She checked and said sure, but the room is not ready yet. Fine by us. Take the shuttle to Paris, check our suitcases and head for the casino. Bud loves video poker, so that is where I always find him. Gambled a few hours, winning and losing. Go back to see if our room is ready..no not yet. New guy at the desk says he has a different P ( premium) room on the 27th floor. The elevators are set up to go like to floor # 1-15, 15-26, 27-33. Get to our room and WOW. [IMG] Two huge windows, one facing the mountains/ MGM Grand the other facing the strip.. Bellagio and could see about a third of the fountains. That big Paris balloon right outside our window. Cool. Nice big bathroom with marble tiles and separate shower.Lots of lotions and big fluffy towels. This is home for the next few days.Getting hungry so off we go to Ellis Island for that $4.95 steak dinner. It was de-lish and I had a 2-1 coupon from ACG.
Played a little there and headed off to Bally’s. Gambled for a few hours, back to Paris and gambled there. Went out to see the Bellagio fountain show. Very cool, but it was cold out. Wind chill of 28…yikes…not use to that in Fla. Slots are not loose today…my body is betraying me… could it be all those bloody mary’s and 7 & 7’s ?? been up for over 24 hours. Need a nap.

Day 2 . Got a few hours sleep. Bud goes down every morning and gets coffee for me. Sweet. Off we go to the Stage Deli for breakfast at Bally’s. Time to find those Elvis slots at Barbary Coast. Cost me about $ 100 to get Elvis to sing to me…Bud is doing ok with VP. Next stop Flamingo, I hit one machine for 500 quarters. I love slots. I play mostly 25 cent machines , max bet in all the time. If I’m winning I go to Dollar slots. Off to Imperial Palace to get tix for Legends in Concert for Wed. night..played there for awhile, next stop Venetian. I wanted to go on the Gondola ride, but Bud thought it looked lame..
After losing some money there we got a day pass and took the bus downtown. Picked up a few souvenirs and hit Golden Nugget ,Las Vegas club, Fitz., Binions, and ended up at Tony Roma’s at Freemont for Prime Rib and Baby Back Ribs. Good Stuff. Saw the light show and headed back to the strip. Caught the B fountain show again and headed for the Eiffel Tower. Beautiful view up there at night. Got French Vanilla ice cream and off to my room. Lost Bud somewhere in the casino…he’ll show up eventually. Now 2a.m.

    Day3 Grand Canyon
Picked up at 9:30. The flight to G C was totally awesome. We got to spend extra time at the GC cause the President was at a fund raiser at the Venetian and they had restricted the air space. Ok by us. They had a very nice buffet lunch for us and then made a few stops by bus of different views of the Canyon. Only one word..Magnificent.. Fly back to Vegas, clean up and go see if we had any comps . Yup, $15. cash and $35 in food. OK.
Bud says lets stop here for a drink, at the Ortanique Rest./ bar in Paris. Let me tell ya…it was the worlds most expensive Manhatttens. $ 9.50 per drink. We had 2 each. After those drinks , all I remember is eating Prime and Turkey and a big plate of chocolate something at Bally’s buffet. After gambling some more and a few more 7&7’s , it’s about 3 am. I hate slots. Lost Bud again. I get off the elevator and go get a bottle of water from the machine. Walk down the long corridor to the room and my key does not work…what the frig ? Try again. Nope, not working. Shit, wrong room. Try not to panic cause I may be on the wrong floor..check the numbers…ok right floor. Walking back and bump into security…he asks if everything is alright…sure , just dandy…Can’t find my freakin room….finally found it….where’s Bud ?

Day 4. Breakfast at Alladin. Did some shopping . Found Elvis slots. Would not sing to me. Stupid slots. Off to NY.NY, M&M and Coke …Back to BC to catch “BIG ELVIS†show. This guy must weigh 500 lbs, but sounds just like him. Bud took a picture of Elvis and me. Buff up and off to Legends in Concert. Really good show. Back to Bally’s and Paris to lose some more money..

    Day 5
Early wake up call, lost more money and off to airport early…didn’t want to get stuck in the airport security line. 3 hour flight delay in Atlanta. Arrive home at 1:30 a.m.

Hope this wasn’t too long or boring. Thanks for reading.

Great first report. Sounds like you had a great trip. I have never took Vegas time for a Grand Canyon tour but it sounds like it might be worth it. Maybe after I retire. Thanks for giving me my daily Vegas fix!

It sounds like your buddy has more late night stamina than you.
Good to hear from someone not afraid to party.

Hi, Yes the Grand Canyon was spectacular.Flying in those little planes over the Canyon is kind of surreal...feels like you are in a virtual reality kind of thing. Interesting that there is zero security at those small airports. Anyone could have brought anything on those planes.

I do have a love/hate relationship with those slots...love when I'm winning/hate when I'm losing  This trip about -$800. Bud broke even. FYI Elvis slots were at Alladin, Paris, Barbary Coast and Las Vegas Club.

A bit of a let down was Las Vegas Club ( sorry Mikey) but that casino needs a makeover or good cleaning . I went to get a players card and it had a very bad smell in there. Even the cashier was old and haggard looking, no makeup etc. But, that's only my opinion....

Ya , Bud did party a tad more than me ;)

    Back to reality...

    Hey Sunni,
Loved your trip report! Got a good laugh at you loving those slots, then hating 'em. What tour company did you use on your Grand Canyon tour? And did you go to the West Rim or the South Rim?
We were there the same time as you! We got there on the 26th and left on the 29th. I went to play the Majestic Lions at MGM that Wednesday, and lost - of course. I also found the Elvis slots there, and he sang to me a lot, but that's about it. It was pretty neat getting to see those little video clips.
Glad to hear y'all had a great time! Isn't Vegas the best?!!

p.s. Also found Elvis slots at NYNY.

Great report. I just love to read the trip reports. We leave in three weeks and I can hardly wait. The last time we were there we took a helicopter into the floor of the Grand Canyon. What an experience! Then we went up to the rim and had a buffet lunch (the whole experience was worth the $450 each). I cried when we came over the rim and started down into the canyon. It was just so beautiful. All five of us on the helicopter shed a tear over the wonder of it. Just imagine being the pilots and doing that every day. Guess they get used to it.

    Thanks again for the report.

    Barby,
We booked the Grand Canyon air/land tour through
www.looktours.com . Got an internet special $154.99 ea....worth every penny. We did the South rim. They pick you up at hotel, fly you to Grand Canyon, feed you , take a 2 1/2 hour bus tour and they fly you back to Vegas.I would do it again. It was awesome ! [IMG]

Elvis did sing to me about 8 -10 times. ;)

Now I'm packing to go to Boston, not looking forward to the cold weather.
