    My Trip Report

Flew in with a friend this morning from Philly. Flight was extremely bumpy for the first 2+ hours, but it settled down and we made it fine. Staying at IP Turs, then Mirage wed and thurs and coming back home on fri redeye. Shuttle 30 minute wait. Could have paid $2 more to the other company and saved about 20 minutes but who knew?? For future reference, Showtime slow...very slow. Finally got to IP and room wasn't ready. Left bags and grabbed a bite at the buffet. Went over to harrahs for poker tourney and my bad luck has continued from last trip

    Poker hand:

100-200 blinds and i am dealt aces. I raise to $1000 and get one caller. Flop comes A-2-5. She checks and I bet another $1000. She raises all-in..another $3000. I figure I'm good...I put her on AK suited or maybe A-5 suited at best. Uh-uh. She's got 3-4 suited stashed away and I'm out of the tourney. That was $60 well spent...not!!

I go over to a new monopoly slot and win $70 so that was pretty
Nice. Them went to Venetian to play some Omaha.

    Poker hand:

PLO hand. I get dealt A-9-8-J. There's two callers to see the flop. It comes A-A-8. Guy makes it $20. Other guy calls. I pot. Call. Fold. Turn is a Jack...yeah my hand just got better. Guy checks and I pot all in. Guy calls. Pot has to be close to $500 now. River is a Queen. Dude turns over A-Q-6-6. Yeah he had 2 outs. Whatever. I'm so mad even sitting in bed 3 hours later

Ok so we meet back at room and I find that my friend dropped $200 at the harrahs 1-2 nl game. So bad night for poker. We got these coupons for 2-1 quesadillas at Mexican restaurant here so I got 2 and my friend opted to use the other side of the coupon for 5 for $5 bucket of coronas. He was feeling it, so he went to room. I called home, calmed down a little, then went to play some pai gow. I had a couple black chips from playing earlier so I grabbed them and left the room. Sat down at a pai gow game and started playing. The girl asked for my card and I said I didn't have it with me. So I'm playing a while and pitboss, who looks like John Clayton nerd dude from ESPN, asks me if I have my ID to pit in instead of my total rewards. I said no it is in my room. I am 39 years old, fat, and haven't been asked for ID in 17 years. He said that I should Always carry my id and I said it was in my room and I would get it the next time I come down.

So I'm playing and about 5 minutes later this nerdy prick crawls up to me and says "I talked to my boss and he said you need to go get your ID from your room". So I was already pissed off about losing at poker and this idiot pot boss is bothering me for ID?? WTF is that all about?? So I calmly say "color me put please". This jerk actually has the balls to say "sorry, I'll see you in a few minutes.". So I turn to him and say "you won't be seeing me down here again. I'll be at Mirage tomorrow and won't come back".

I guess the lesson learned is this...IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR RARING CARD JUST SAY YOU DON'T HAVE PNE AND DON'T WANT ONE!!! Because I'll be damned if they check EVERY SINGLE PERSON'S ID WHO IS WALKING AROUND THE CASINO!!!

Time to go to sleep. Please let me know if I was out of line and if I am as crazy as I feel right now. More to come tomorrow.

    Aaayyyeyeeergggg

What a terrible way to start the trip.

Sounds like there was no mojo Harrah's, Venetian, and IP. I would never play again at a casino that hassled me about a card and my ID. On the bright side, they do think you look young.

The bad beats on the first hand in poker are timeless. Been there, done that.

Now, for today you need to get collected. Pick your best game, period. Play it, like you know how you are able to, and get back to winning.

Well, I understand your frustration, especially after losing but the guy was just doing his job. He didn't make the rules but if he wants to continue feeding his family he must adhere to them. So, in short, yes IMO you were out of line. Good report so far, keep it coming.

Getting ready to move over to mirage, but wanted to reply to you about your statement that "he was just doing his job". I would agree 100% if I had sat down and been asked "sir I need to see your ID please" then all bets are off and it is my fault that I didn't bring it. However, if I had simply said "no I dont want to be rated" that would have ended it. But I said I have a card but not on me. That was my mistake to say that. Then when he asked for my id to rate me I should have just said no thanks. You can't tell me that they ask for every single persons license when they sit down to play, right? So he didn't do it to check that I am 21. He did it to rate me. I said I left it in my room and even gave him my room number. He could have checked. Instead he weasily went to his boss and then came back and said I have to go to get my ID. If I wanted I could have started an argument but I took the nice way out and left. He is a spineless weasel and i won't be gambling at IP for the rest of this trip.

How to I think he could have handled it? He could have told me that I need to carry my ID in the future. But he wants to show he is the
boss and so he tells me I have to go get it. Ridiculous.

I don't want to debate this because I wasn't there, body language, tone of voice could have all played a part in your reaction to what he was saying. Based on the facts of the story as you tell it, the man "weasily went to his boss", more than likely to ask if it was ok to not get your ID and was told he had to. I could very well be wrong, it is just my opinion and probably not a very good one without being there. Hopefully, this is just a small part of a great trip. Good luck!

    Yipes!

Awful bummer start of a trip - I know that 'first game' misery and how it sets the pace. Better luck on new day, new hotel, new sessions. Gambling gods were just toying with you yesterday, obviously they know that today is your day. Good luck!

Quick update. Talked to a pretty cool dealer at Venetian and he said the dude probably got chewed out because he should have told me I couldn't play without ID. He said it is true that they wouldn't have known but once they knew I was SOL. it's Nevada law. Oh well. I wuz wrong ;). Still, the guy was a weasel ;). Now back to winning cash at amazing race. Bonus time!!!

I agree - OP was out of line, and it's good habit to carry your ID at all times.

That sucks, but if the mojo was off at Harrah's, maybe the move was a good thing. I am staying at the Mirage and Harrah's in November, so don't clean em out too bad.

Hello and thanks for sharing your report. Well I think that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard for some time. Knowing me, I guess I would have asked to speak to the pit boss's boss. You can contact Doug Lang who is the Director of Continuous Improvement for Harrah's. [email protected] He was very interested in a problem I had last Novemeber at Bally's. In all my trips that was the first time I ever complained but felt compelled to!

Hope the rest of your trip is better!. I will be arriving in LV tomorrow and looking forward to it since it started raining here yesterday............

don't you need that ID on you for handpays, ATM debit POS withdrawals and potential requests from the cops during a hookers and blow sting operation?

getting carded by some dbag at IP would seem like the last reason you might need it.

obviously once you said it any of the dbag pit bosses living in fear of layoff are gonna go by the book. for a 39 yr old the guy probably could have used a letter better judgement and let it go. but he was probably trying to seem useful. there is probably quite a bit of job insecurity out there.

maybe laws are different in different states

my husband and I went to tunica ms and stayed at the Horseshoe (het property) and he forgot his id and used my players card at the bj table and told the guy it was because he forgot his id and his total reward card. they rated my card for his play, and gave us two free buffets.
