    My Trip Report

So....I sit several days post-mortem, with a glass of brandy (it doesnt always have to be cognac...there is good brandy) and remember and compose this for my favorite message board. I enjoy all of your TRs and try to do the best I can for you as well, I hope you approve.

Well, time has come for another trip. The specs...

Labor Day weekend arrive Saturday depart Wednesday. Booked way too late so had to take IP (gag) for first night, then over to Palazzo for rest of the nights

Background- for those who dont know me, am a low to mid-roller who enjoys life, a few good drinks, and trying to beat the casinos at the comp game. (I dont do bad. I don't expect to win (I sure as hell hope so) but I do ok for sure. I go to casinos about 80 times a year and my average cost is $85 (Confirmed by W/L statements--might actually be less with poker winnings)
I am a TR Diamond and do my damnest to pay for NOTHING.

    Partner- My poker buddy Jack

    Bankroll--About $2500 for the trip.

Flight-- SWA from PHL via Phoenix using RR credits. LONGGG flight, but uneventful thanks to earplugs and a few drink coupons.

Car rental from Enterprise, got a good deal and scored an upgrade to a Black Chevy Suburban....big pimpin.

Got to IP around 6pm after stopping to pickup some supplies for the room. (booze) Had a dinner at quesadilla at IP on the 5th floor. Surprisingly good. Jack had chicken fajitas and I had cheese quesadillas. Utilized coupon from mailer and TR credits. Some really cute waitresses, made the food taste better. (3.5 forks)

IP room......IP room, very basic.....highlight, looked out the balcony and saw a couple screwing in the hot-tub....classy Later a guy in the elevator claimed to be the screwer... I said "God Bless you" (2 ahhs) (the room..not the screwing you sickos)

Gambling at IP, played PGP for a while, could not get any kind of score and lost $50. Decided to play top dollar video slots, thought it was a good idea. It wasn't. Lost $150 :grrr:

    Day -- lost 200

Next morning, moving day. First walked over to the V went to the gold club lounge. Had a continental breakfast (thats all you need people...not ten eggs, five sausage links and four pieces of toast. I just lost 25lbs on a diet where I only ate 900 calories and still wasnt hungry. Moderation is key!) And read the LV R/J, one of my favorite newspapers.

Checked out of the IP and drove over to the M Resort. I love this place. Checked out some sports lines but didnt like any prices. I made a $20. bet on the LA Dodger game (lost....start trend here) Sat down at a Mini-Bacc table. Bought in for $200 and started betting. Dealer was dealing at HYPER-METH-CRACK speed, very nice....but too DAMN fast. Not my cup of tea, left up $12 bucks after half a shoe...just didnt feel it. Floorman said "maybe you should of bought in for $5000" the balls on this SOB. Jack thinks on his feet and says "He usally does" I said "wasnt feeling lucky" This is so true----if not feeling right----leave!!!

Stopped over at Harrahs and played some Pai Gow tiles while Jack took a shower. Funny thing happened. Mila, this pretty dealer from Saryejvo (sorry about the spelling) asked where I was staying, I said.."Imperial" but moving to Palazzo.. she said...."You'll notice a difference." Laughed my ass off. Left a $15 winner, but it was time to leave. Never could get on a streak.

Went over to check out the Trop. They have done a nice job, it was too early so no Pai Gow or Baccarat open, so I didnt gamble. I did make the trek over to MGM to do a guilty pleasure, Sigma Derby. I played for a while and made $11.00 but had a lode of fun. I was calling the races in my best Trevor Denman voice and cracking up the whole table. You cant buy any more fun for .25 (one guy won $150)

Took a ride over to the Orleans with the intention of playing DD blackjack. Could not get a seat and didnt want to play a shoe. Ended up playing craps. Now...I play conservative... Pass line, full odds, 6 and 8, and $1 on each of the hardways...(my one chase) Yes I run a casino party business, yes I can deal every game, Yes I know the odds....but DAMN IT hitting a parlay is FUN.

    But not today.....lost $165 in 17.22 minutes, a near record for a $5 game.

Put my tail between my legs and Jack and I went over to Aria so he could buy a ticket to Viva Elvis (Jack is a huge Elvis Presley fan...has an Elvis room in his house) So in the meantime I played Pai Gow Poker. It was a $25 minimum game and I bought in for $500. I ended up making $120 and Jack made $100. Jack also got trashed. (It's pretty damn early also (He only drinks in Vegas...his dirty little secret. I almost feel honored that he shares that vice with me.)

Went over to the Palazzo to check in. Now from one previous session (two trips ago on a $5 WOF slot, which was my maiden trip to V/P) I had been afforded what they called "benvenuto" status. 2-4 suite nights with $100 FSP or match play. First trip I played minimal and still got to book another trip.

Used the invited check in and got great service, got comp upgrade for strip view. Jack walked into the room and was stunned. He was convinced that I had someone killed for something. And of course...it was a beautiful room. Great view of the valley on the 43rd floor, very sweet. (4.25 ahhhs)

Used the FSP and got back $71 on a .25 top dollar machine. Actually had it up to $90 but was waiting for Jack and donked off $20.

Walked over to Harrahs, used the coupon Sheltie Lover posted (Thanks) for KGB burger for BOGO. I enjoyed the deep fried dill pickles and a veggie burger. Jack had the thanksgiving turkey burger..but was still pretty drunk. (3.5 forks) Example, before being seated Jack sat down at a Blazing 7 dollar machine, (jack doesnt play slots..I even asked...are you sure?) put in a hundy, hit 2 cherries. Damn.

Jack went back to the room to sleep it off, I went to the Diamond club and had a few Stoli martinis. Talked to some great folks from around the country. (Even Canadian Gaggles) Watched the game I bet, slowly got upset. Asked the bartender Robert for a to-go cup. He said, you want some more...HELL YEAH. Ended up with a 12oz vodka martini......set for the night. Went back to the room where Jack was.....really comfortable, making a big dent in the Canadian Club he has bought.:drunk::drunk:

    Day---Plus 50

Next morning, went to Gold lounge for breakfast and paper, went downtown. Registered for 10am tourney at Binions. Jack and I both wore our "I won a no-limit tournament at Binions" shirts. (Brag...I've won more than him) Played some single deck BJ (pays 3/2 but double 10 or 11 only..still not a bad game) and won $20 while waiting.

Didnt win the tournment, sat down in a cash game....they have a nice promotion, play a tourney, then sit 30 min in a cash game...you get $10 free.. not bad...didnt help. Total tourney-cash game loss. $120.

Went looking for a BJ game, couldnt find one at Fremont, Fitz, GN that looked appealing. Walked down to the ELCO. Sat down at the DD game. It had good rules, DAS, and 3/2. Sure it's H17, but good penetration. I was feeling comfortable and felt like I had a good feel. Jack lost $100 real fast and got pissed, so I left only up $40 bucks. I should have stayed but decided to be a good friend....mistake.

Grabbed a cigar from Lovo on Fremont, a nice maduro churchill. A good draw with a woody vanilla finish. (4 puffs)

Went to the 4 queens. Looked at the 6/5 shoe games and got upset. One dealer who was standing at the 6/5 crapjack pointed out the $5 3/2 shoe game with decent rules, very nice of her. I bought in for $200 and Jack bought in for $100. I held my one 2 hours before my luck went south real, real fast and ended up losing $500. Got a comp for Magnolias and got one of my favorite meals in Vegas, their Greek salad. I just love it. Call me simple, (go ahead now) but sometimes you dont need much, and just a little familiar thing will put you back in the right frame of mind. Jack had a Chik Caesar salad, also quite good (3 plus square root of PI forks)

Played the silver strike slot machine, put in eighty, got back $5 plus seven $10 strikes..including one of the coveted redcaps that are actually .999 silver and worth more than $10 by weight. I use them as poker card protectors and collect them. (They ALWAYS sell on eBay for a min of $12.99)

Went back to the strip, I used my Diamond card to get free Vinnie Favorito tickets. We first went to the Flamingo Diamond lounge and loaded up...both food and booze. Vinnie is F'n hilarous. I tipped the Maitr'd and just like Goodfellas he said "put your tickets away" and put out extra chairs for us out front. Now Jack really thinks I had someone killed...

Vinnie ripped everyone. You have to see Vinnie....repeat you have to see Vinnie. He made good fun of Jack..former cop.. "did you ever get out of the car?" to which Jack said "occasionally," (5 claps)

On the way back, Jacks daugher texted him, he said he was losing, she said... I know you will win...Play WOF. Walked into the Royale, put up $10 a head. Jack got a spin...got 30, the usual, I got one (30) jack got one (25), Jack got another one. 1000 freaking quarters...hell yeah. (yes is have a picture...am too stupid to upload from the phone. Up $125 there :drunk::beer:

Slinked back to the room. day--- loss of about 550

Next morning, same routine, went to the lounge for breakfast. Today I was going to play some poker. Went to the Mirage where they have an awesome aces cracked promotion where you can win up to $150 if you lose with pocket aces. Well when I got aces, I smooth called, and checked and called the whole way....3 spades on board, a straight out there, and still my damn aces won. Freaking $40 pot instead of $150...shit. Ended up losing $60. after about 4 hours.

Went to the pool, chilled for a while.

Played some slots at Palazzo, had a lot lost $100 on WOF and played a super fun Press your luck machine forever on $20. Had a tremendous amount of fun.

Took Jack over to the PH Diamond lounge for a super-healthy dinner of VO manhattans, chicken wings and spring rolls. Met a tough guy type who was always talkin about how many "dimes" he was betting. I usually feel the need to provoke these people, but Jack started name dropping and shit, well I joined in some, it was all in good fun, this guy was a trip. Nice guy, but just a little too self-important.

Jack went to the Viva Elvis show (5 plus claps) I played some slots and won $30 then played PGP, bought in $600, almost lost it all. Had some cool dealers, caught quads once, and the went a big pressing spree up to about $175 a hand and got my cash back. Jack played some single deck crapjack and broke even. (he lost $100 on PGP)

    Day---loss of $170

Slept and chilled. Jack wanted a "real breakast" so went went to HHAGG at the IP, I had a biscuit and gravy (1) and a side fo potatoes, very good, just a little bit pricey. Had no more comps for this.

I dont gamble the last day, (always lose) played just a couple minutes at Mcarran and won $25. had nachos to Sammy hagars and a couple of margaritas, ($40---shit)

Nice flight home and another one in the books.

    Highlights---I needed a vacations,

Lowlights-- I NEVER got on a real good run.

Total bankroll (inclusive of everything, gamby, tips, car, booze, blow (just kidding) -$920.

I hope you enjoyed, I know it is long, but it's the way I like to read TRs, lots of detail, so I post em like that.

I probably forgot some fun, but I loved this trip.

I love comments, questions and queries.

    P.S.

My uber-low rolling at Palazzo caught up to me, my new offers are only for reduced rates. I saw that coming, no surprise. My bankroll and gambling habits get me treated well at Flamingo-like properties... not Palazzo. But if they want to give it to me.......I'LL TAKE IT:cheers:

I like the details on the report

Keep writing them this way. I also play the game of not getting too much money out of my pocket when I am there. If it is comped, I use it.

And from Jasonargo's picture, I know what the Sigma Derby machine is. No idea who Trevor Denman is though.

Hardways. Those are a weakness of mine also. I call them monopoly numbers, because in Monopoly you always want doubles so you can roll again.

I did notice my last trip that every time I threw out a hardway bet, it was seven out very quickly. So I had to change my dealer bets to $1 on 2, 3, and 12 on the come out roll.

Don't worry - you will survive the Flamingo-like properties, LOL. And no accusations of killing someone that way!!!!

I always put my dealer bets on the pass line, better chance for the boys.

Trevor Denman is the track announcer at Santa Anita Park known for
    "....and away they go"

I also did my Tom Durkin impression "AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME!"

Also my home track Philadelphia park "keith Jones" with his distintive, almost nasal voice.

And no, i didnt lose bad at all, but never got a good roll, that bothered me more.

    Great report passlineman.

Your comment on not needing to eat huge meals all the time made me laugh. As a regular visitor to the States I am always blown away by how big the meals are ! It seems that in Vegas that also goes to another level.

Now I like food and drink, but seeing some people who can hardly walk chowing down huge breakfasts each morning does nothing for my appetite.

I just love walking up and down the strip each day, so being stuffed with food would change my trip. Now full of drink may be a different issue:wink2:

good luck for the next trip
