    My Trip Report

I could never understand why people would post a pre-trip plan but know I understand. I cant wait to leave (Third Trip) [IMG] and I have to share me excitement with everybody else. Trip is from May 10-14. [IMG]

Transportation - Limo to and from airport, flying Southwest and renting a car from Dollar or Enterprise

Room - Staying at the Monte Carlo for 4 nights ($306)

Attractions - Plenty of gambling, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, Mystere (2 row, center) [IMG] , Big Shot on top of The STRAT , Rick Thomas or Mac King [IMG] , Fitzgerald's lounge acts, Hoover Dam, Binion's WSOP and plenty more.

Eats - Paris Breakfast Buffet, Aladdin Dinner Buffet, Fat Burger, possible steakhouse, Grand Lux, La Bayou [IMG] and other suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks for all the opinions, suggestions and tips. Everybody [IMG] has been very helpful for planning this trip

  2. Good Luck Dukie!

I'm leaving on the 11th staying thru the 14th. Staying at the Trop this time. This is my 6th trip in 5 years. Don't have anything really big planned, just plenty of gambling, time by the pool, and walking around.

Ritual every year has been once we arrive at our hotel, check the bags and find the nearest bar and order our Bloody Mary with a chaser of Beer!

    Extra spicy of course!

Have a good trip & good luck!

    Hey Dukie...

When you're at the WSOP, give Binions snackbar a try. A greasy burger and a bowl of their famous chili is a meal to remember. And raise a glass for me while you're there!

If you could, please give a report about the tables at the Monte Carlo. Blackack rules and limits--plus the use of CSMs, Autoshufflers, or shoes, and of course the minimums and odds at the dice tables (I'm fairly certain they're $5 minimum with 3x4x5x odds...)

Good Luck and have a great trip!

    Mikey

Dukie, I probably don't have to tell you this but....don't eat the greasy burger and chili before you ride the BigShot.

Dukie, Play in the Aladdin slot tourny and you can get the dinner buffet for free. It will cost you $25 to play, but you will get the buffet(worth $20) and $10 on the slot card for certain machines in the casino. Also if you haven't already signed up for the slot card at Harrahs then go and sign up and you will receive vouchers for Mac King at Harrahs and Ronn Lucas at the Rio, all you have to buy is a drink. Both shows are afternoon shows and are great for the money. I wish I was going with you, have a great time and win big. [IMG]

For the longest time I thought I had a "problem." Not a gambling addiction, but a Vegas addiction! But then I found my own little support group right here at travel2vegas. [IMG]

    Anyway...

    Dukie,
Personally, I would skip the shark reef unless you are really into that sort of thing. The walk is substantial and the exhibits are no more spectacular than your average zoo and not worth the $15 or so it costs. But to each his own.

You mentioned breakfast at Paris. If you are looking for a snack instead of a buffet, try Lenotre. Outstanding pastries!

This goes without saying, but have a great time!

T-39, T-227 and trying to talk my wife into T-76 to see the Famous Mikey in action!

I don't play blackjack but I think CSM is Continuous Shuffling Machine

    Dukie...

There's a difference. Continuous Shuffle Machines (CSM) are the devil. After each hand, everything is reshuffled, and you could theoretically get the exact same cards every time. It's used to do two things...discourage counters and speed up the game. Also, with a CSM there is NEVER a time when the count is favorable to the player (i.e. there will never be a time when there are more face cards than low cards in the deck).

Autoshufflers are fine...they just speed up the game a little bit and keep the dealer from having to hand shuffle a six-deck shoe (although, the LV Club uses autoshufflers on their single-deck game)

Once again, props to Hoya... ;)

By the way, Hoya, if you don't play blackjack, and haven't learned craps yet, what exactly do you do besides drink??? [IMG]

Oh yeah, video poker. My bad...

Drinking & nickel slots covered my first 4 trips to Vegas. Then I started with the video poker. I am trying to learn craps, have started practicing video poker again (I have a version of JOB on my Palm so I can play in line at the grocery store :D ) but I still love those nickel slots. I consider the money to be part of my "entertainment" budget because of course I know they're a horrible game for an "educated" gambler to play ;)

Plus sometimes I sit out by the pool and sometimes we go to shows or shopping [IMG]
