    My Trip Report

I just noticed that today is April 24th.

That means I will be in Vegas 3 months from today!!!

Yeah, and I'm watching 'Casino' on Encore right now, too. When they showed that part where they walked into the old Pioneer to shake down the bookie, I swear I could almost smell the place.

This next trip, however, we're not gonna stay downtown, and try to spend time at different places, and avoid the whole Binions/LV Club/Imperial Palace rut we seem to find ourselves in.

Well, I will be travelling from the UK to Vegas in early July. I will be there between the 6th and 13th July, and also the 19th - 21st July. I hope it's NICE AND HOT because I can't get enough of Las Vegas heat! Hmmm, I must be a European.

I still do not know if I will be able to go. The job situation is up in the air at the moment. If I can get this straight before the middle of June and wrangle a couple of days off--I will be there! Besides I want to learn how to play the dice game from the KING of Dice himself! [IMG]

Yes that july trip!!! Only, I will be there with the misses, during 4th of July weekend! To stay at RIO and see Fleetwood Mac at MGM... Mikey, nothing wrong with your "rut"! - See my post to 6/5 games... and why I never wrote a trip report on March Madness 5 night trip! Your report was much better and a happier ending than mine!

    Hey Kenny--

ALL trip reports are good ones, (Well, maybe except those that don't use punctuation, capitalization, or spell-check and run on for an entire single paragraph...)

I know how you feel about the whole 6-5 thing, and I refuse to spend a dime in a casino that offers it. It sucks that your friend has been drinking the Harrahs Kool-Aid for so long that they are now a True Believer and support such crummy rules. Besides, there's nothing worse than gambling just to 'earn comps', except maybe being tethered to somebody who's doing it...

Anyhow, thanks for the updates, and enjoy the concert. I know for a fact that MGM has good blackjack rules. The Rio, sadly, does not.

    Hey Scott,
Actually Fleetwood Mac is July 5th, Sat. night...
Darn, you are like less than 24 hours too late. Is there any way you could come a day earlier? I just booked the tickets and for the lower $85 price the "best available" was L200's in MGM which was way up in the corner. I take it they are near sold out? does anyone know how you can find that out?

    "Hey Mikey",

You are so right about the tethered thing. Guess what, I am cutting the rope! When the misses and I go in July, we are going to do "a mini" coupon run and will take your advice on finding the better BJ rules. Just curious? what is the Harrahs Kool-Aid? The comp thing? or the drinks at command? Another question - Have you ever been to any of the Station casinos? Are they any good?

    Hey Kenny...

I've only been to the Main Street Station, that I remember. I may have gone into the Palace Station a few years back, but I'm not sure.

MSS is pretty nice. Better odds at the craps tables than the 'canopy' casinos on Fremont Street. Also, it's a bit nicer inside then say, pretty much everything on the the street except the Golden Nugget.

I mentioned 'drinking the Harrahs Kool-Aid' as a dig at all those people like your friend who have been suckered by their slot club and gamble there blindly. Basically, I was referring to the poor souls, like cult members, who have been spouting the party line for so long that reality has nothing to do with whatever they're saying...And you know how them cults like to serve Kool-Aid...

Basically, if somebody is an annoying True Believer in any cause, we joke that they've been drinking the company Kool-Aid for too long...

Anyhow, it sounded funny when I typed it.

having a PHD in smack, I'll offer my expert opinion on the origins on the phrase "drinking the kool-aid"...

Back in the 80's the Jim Jones cult, which I believe had migrated to South America, committed mass suicide by lining up for kool-aid laced with some kind of poison...at least several hundred died.

In the early 90's Jim Rome would refer to the kooks in San Francisco who believed that Joe Montana was the only great SF QB, while sneering at Steve Young, as Kool-aid drinkers, as they all belonged to the cult of Joe.

one side note....there are STILL plenty of Kool-aide drinkers in No-Cal. Sad.

Thanks for the definition. I will definately stay away from the Kool-Aid and you are so right about the friend that I unfortunately stayed with. He was drinking way too much of that Kool-Aid! I am suprised he has not keeled over yet. Although the $5k he dropped in March surely put him closer ha?
