    My Trip Report

    Hi all,

Just wanted to post our mini-trip report. It was our 3rd trip to Vegas and we had a great time. Broke about even with the blackjack and VP, but had a super time. Some of the highlights included:

    - Staying downtown was alot of fun! Enjoyed several of the yard long Daquiri's at the Bayou as well as the laid back atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the outdoor bands that played. Very festive and fun! Spent quite a bit of time at Main Street Station. That place is cool! We enjoyed the atmosphere, the buffet (with the $2 extra breakfast steak) and especially the $.99 margarita's. Yummmm!

-Saw Mystere. Liked it alot, although expected more for the $190 we spend (just being honest). Ate that night at a fun place in Treasure Island. Can't remember the name. Jungle theme. Great food and HUGE portions.

    - Ate ourside one night at the Harley Cafe. Good food and great service. Saw the Bellagio Water show.

-Caught a lounge act at the Aladin that was fantastic!! Stayed there one whole evening, enjoyed their martini's and danced. A great time!

-Ate one night at LaSalsa (Neonopolis). BEWARE! Very poor food all the way around. We met friends and everyone agreed that it was "thumbs down"

-Rented a car and went to Lake Mead (took the paddle boat ride) and drove around exploring the mountains, Hoover Dam, etc... Nice to get away for just one day.

-Weather was really nice, especially by the GN pool (no wind). Very enjoyable, clean hotel. Next time I would probably split my stay and stay 2-3 nights downtown (probably Main Street Station this time...if they have a pool) and 2-3 night on the strip (Aladin or Mirage). We like both atmospheres and 5 full days downtown was a bit much.

Wonderful mix of relaxation, gambling, and fun-fun-fun!

Thank you Julie for the report, I am staying at the Nugget in May (39 days to be exact). I have never been to the Main Street Station and after hearing so many good things about it I will be looking into it.

I agree the stained glass at MSS was fantastic. All of the architecture there was impressive and unique. Does anyone know if they have a pool? If so, we will definitely stay there in the future. Remember...their $.99 margarita's (at the main bar in the casino) are Grrrrrreat!

Main Street Station doesn't have a pool, but guests of M.S.S. are allowed to use the pool at the California. They make up a special key for you (when you show your room key), that is just for the pool. The pool is very small, and very plain. The only nice thing I can say about it, is that it's wet. My sister and I were the only ones at the pool for the first 3 days we were there. If you just want some sun and to read in peace and quiet, it's great.
The most exciting thing we saw there, was some guy in the pool with a mermaid costume on, falsies and all.
There were more people walking through the pool that day just to get a gander at this guy. I think the security guards were spreading the word, because I saw more security that day at the pool than I did anywhere else on the trip.
It was pretty obvious when they would come into the pool area, take a peak at the mermaid look over the side of the building and walk out.
A little more fruit than I needed that day.
