    My Trip Report

Flew from Midway to LV on Sunday morning. I'm here to report check-in times for Southwest are much faster. These kiosks help as do new boarding procedures.
Stayed at Riviera one night ($29) and Stardust the next (free with LVA coupon). This worked out great because after six trips this year, I've finally was able to define who I am - a North Strip person.
That's where I feel most at home. My shoot my craps at Sahara do sports book at Stardust and can be happy bunking in that area, even at the Ho.
On drawback - not a hot spot for great food. Did make excursions to Paris for breakfast and Bellagio (which I feel is best buffet in town) for lunch.
A note on craps - does anyone else get irritated when the game gets slowed down by shooters playing games with the dice before throwing. Especially, rank amateurs trying to be cute. Just throw the damn dice. Twice (at Casino Royale and Slots a Fun) I just left.
I guess another reason to stick with Sahara. I'm just more comfortable there and if you're shooting craps, you need to feel good about your environment to get the good vibes working for you.
I'm not a big strip clubber, in fact have never been to one in Las Vegas. However, since the brand new Sapphire just opened this past weekend and I was staying within walking right across street at Stardust, might as well walk over and see what all the fuss is about these gentlemen's clubs.
The Sapphire advertises itself as the biggest club in the world with 100s of dancers.
I don't want to sound like a prude, but going there was a waste of money and only downer of trip. You couldn't even sit there for more than a couple minutes without a girl coming up and trying to sell you a lap dance or invite into one of the "private" rooms for an even better lap dance. It was almost like you were at a picnic and you had to keep shooing gnats away.
To get the full experience, I even purchased a lap dance. What an artificial exercise, in more ways than one. A nice looking girl, but the whole three minutes was a real turn off.
Well, at least my curiosity has been satisfied. G
I could see why those types off clubs are so expensive. Besides the dancers, they had a ton of other employees working. I will say this - they did go out of there way to make sure anything you wanted was taken care of and the club iteslf looked nice.
This was also first time I've ever went to Vegas by myself. It very relaxing. You come and go as you please and do whatever you want.

wow chef, judging by the title.. I thought it was gonna be a story about my sex life.. he he he ...
I like the north strip as well, I like to play low minimum craps and it offers several opportunities. I like the "setting" of the dice.. I always give'em 3 circles, then 3 taps on the table and then let em fly... Yeah, I know it makes no difference.. but when you do get a good roll... people are like.. "wow, that guy really knows what he's doing" ... ohhh, yeah, I know what i'm doing.. that's why I'm playing at the dollar table at slots a hell.
I am interested in the new Sapphire club.... as I am headed to vegas in Feb with 30 rugby guys. What is the cover? did you check out all the different "clubs" within the club? I am trying to decide if I should send the whole crew over there for some "entertainment"... although I hate the constant harassment for lap dances myself..
appricate your help.. thanks for sharing.

Nice report. To add my input into the mix - I think it depends on how my craps session is going. Most of the time I think the people are just showing off and I wish they would just throw the dice! But when they are hot and they are hitting numbers, it's a different story.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is when they start getting into it with the stickman because they are taking too long. I've had games delayed for what seemed like forever while they go at it.

Personally when I throw, it's just make sure people are out of the way (far end isn't placing bets) and let them go.

    Hey Chef
I'm curious myself about the details of Saphire. Where exactly is it. I have stayed at the Riviera for the past 2 years and I did'nt even know that there was a strip club going in on the north strip. I'd like to know what the costs were and what you payed for the drinks if you had any. Thanks in advance for your response.

Your report puts new meaning into the phrase "feeling the love at the tables" as previously discussed by Dr. Al.

The Sapphire is directly across from the Sahara entrance on Industrial Road. To get there, I just walked from Stardust parking lot and crossed the street. Pretty simple.
Cover was $20 and I was told it's same price all day. Locals get in for $10. Lap dances $20, but you can go in "private room" 3 dances for $100. A beer was $6.
They also have special party rooms for large groups (not sure on price).
They had pleasant management folks (man there were a ton of them). The night I was there (Mon) it seemed like more employees than patrons. However, they were jam-packed over weekend I was told.
The layout consists of slightly elevated round dancing floor in middle of lounge-type area. Only about a dozen front row seats. Plenty of seating throughout though.
Girls would dance about three songs. A good rotation of girls. Another boost of the Sapphire is the 100s of girls they have working for them.
You could have a good time in there if you wanted to. But, you would also be spending a lot of money to get the job done.
Even though my experience wasn't favorable, I would not discourage anyone from going to the Sapphire. Maybe I've just outgrown strip clubs. I hadn't been to one in over ten years, but when I did go to Frank's Marquee (anybody else been there?) in Belvidere, IL it was always a fun time.

Thanks for the report chef.I don't play craps
myself, but I like to watch people play and all
of the different routines people go though before
they throw the dice. Some of the best "free"
entertainment is watching other people play craps
