    My Trip Report

Got home a few hours ago and the family is asleep! This trip was a do-over from the very dismal trip @ Vdara over Valentine's Day.

    Friday 5/7
Bella (DD) and I flew out on SW Airlines early afternoon. Bella is 8, and this was my first time flying solo with her. Vegas is super easy as for us 50 min flight. I was so flustered from dropping a bottle of red nail polish before leaving for airport ( not a good start), almost put the dreaded laptop AND liquids thru security in carryon! Agent was so nice, could see I was flustered, and just me to take it easy, it was fine. Went thru security and off to gate for an on time departure to Vegas!

Bella has to pre-board b/c of her nut allergy. I have to wipe down everything with a Clorox wipe and give crew a form stating her nut allergy. Yes, we are the reason on certain Southwest flights, you get pretzels instead of peanuts. Sorry all, but my child's life, well, you get it. Any case, I noticed a very strong nail polish remover smell coming from one of my carry on bags. I thought "wonderful, I threw one of the rags or something from the clean up of earlier nail polish disaster pre-trip ( see above)". Others around me had started to notice the smell as well. I explained what had I did before leaving for airport. Board plane, smell intensified. Did thru bag, determine it is my sweater, give to agent to throw away. Easy, problem solved. Ummm, not exactly.

So this freaking smell is getting stronger and stronger. To the point people are making comments. Thank god no one knew it was me! Proceed to find out, I had another bottle of nail polish in my purse ( who know how it got in there!) and earlier, Bella and knocked over my carry on and it landed just ever so perfectly on top of purse to yes, sheer off entire top of bottle and spill entire bottle of nail polish inside my brand new Louis Vuitton purse. Purse that was also sitting on top of my lap, which now my dress has yes, a nice pink nail polish stain on it. Seriously? Is this how we are starting off trip? So I ask flight attendant for a bag so I can clean up this mess before entire plane becomes high of nail polish fumes and we get kicked off plane.

She gives me a bag and when I ask for napkins, well, that was too much. She said after we take off. Again, really? Thank goodness I had my handy Clorox wipes and a angel of a woman sitting next to me to help! Mess cleaned up, crisis averted, off to Vegas we go!

    Palazzo/ Prestige Floor
So, we check into Venetian and I ask if I can pay to upgrade to the new Prestige level floor in Plazzo. Turns out, yes I can. So I pay the extra $100 a night and get a 2 queen room. Perfect! So Bella and I trek thru Venetian over to Palazzo to the "Prestige" floor. Have my complementary glass of champagne ( SO needed), and head to room. Wow! Beautiful, awesome, room. Clean, beautiful ,new, just wow! And the customer service, second to none. I put it right up there with the Four Seasons. The Prestige Floor with the lounge we really did enjoy. The happy hour alone was worth it ( more on that later). Even Bella exclaimed " this room rocks!". We decide to hit the lounge to check out the snacks before hitting the strip. They had some snacks out and bottled water. Good enough.

From there we hit M&M ( missed last time), Planet Hollywood and our traditional trip to Build A Bear in there, and just walked around. A few things we noticed:
1.) Dont know if the recent full moon had anything to do with this but we saw: Batgirl, Supergirl, the Joker with a play knife and kissing random people, a man with a live python, a Star Wars Storm trooper, strange men wearing full latex like body suits that covered hands and feet ( totally bizarre), and 2 men needing full medical attention on the strip all this before 5:30pm Friday night. We hit Vegas ALOT, never seen this many odd people walking around ,seriously, it was wierd!

2.) There was NO traffic on LV Blvd. Friday night usually packed, we counted 2 cars at one point, again strange.

3.) Very little action inside casinos, malls, ect

The economy's impact could be seen.

So, Fred (DH), texts me only to say flight is delayed b/c of LAX traffic. Oh, well, Bella and I headed off to Strip Burger to use one of my Restaurant.com coupons. She had the 3 mini burgers ( no bun, just the burger), I ordered a bunch of stuff to bring back to the room. By this time it was getting late. Fred called about 7:30 to say he was @ the room. We headed over there to eat and relax in the room. We went up to the Prestige lounge for cocktails/ desserts later. It was a nice way to end the day.

    Saturday 5-8

As this trip was part of my birthday gift and Mother's Day gift, I was given free realm to do whatever I wanted, and that my good friends was gambling! So I hit Palazzo for some slots, bust. Went over to Venetian and played Deal or no Deal penny slot. I always looked down upon the penny slots, not sure why, but I did. I played that slot for over 3 hrs, and won over $500! Went back to room to hit the happy hour with the family. Fred had tried to take Bella swimming. With the "Prestige" floor comes free access to the Azure pool. No one told us that pool was 21 and over, which is fine. Fred said the "normal" pool was so packed they had to wait over 30 mins just to get in!? Shouldnt the "Prestige" floor have some pull on this? They got in and she sort of swam. It got so crowded they left, sunburned and all. We all changed and headed upstairs for Happy Hour.

In the lounge they have free Wi-Fi which is a parents sort of babysitter when wanting to enjoy some good conversation over a few cocktails and keep 8 yr old entertained. She happily played on my Mac in Build A Bear world. The appetizers were so good we made dinner out of it. With all of our food allergies, they had something we all enjoyed and it was SO good!

We decided to head over to Wynn. Upon entering Wynn and seeing the casino, the Sex and the City slots called my name. I had read about them extensively, but had not played. Fred said he and Bella would wander and I should go play. Well, that turned into them heading back to our room and me playing solo for about 2 hrs. I was up about $500 but gave it all back. Honestly, I didnt care. This was the first trip in so long I was able to just enjoy myself and have some fun. Wynn casino was dead. I headed back to Palazzo around 11pm and called it a night.

    5-9 Sunday

Happy Mother's Day! We decided to have b fast in the lounge and go from there. Bella and Fred wanted to just "hang" in the suite. I had all good intentions of hitting the gym and Canyon Ranch Spa, I really did. That damn Sex and the City slot downstairs was just calling my name. So, off I went and wasted 2 more hours. Went back to room. Fred and Bella went over to Treasure Island and had come back already. Me still in my workout clothes now feeling antsy was instructed to "go workout" before I drive them crazy, umm, ok. Quick workout and off to the airport we went. Easy flight home, no drama, on time. No drama at home. All the pets did fine with the petsitter and were happy we were home as well.

The second part of my birthday/ Mother's Day gift is we are going to Lanai Hawaii in 4 weeks. So I have to say, I feel really blessed to have such an awesome family! I expressed to Fred and Bella how much this trip meant to me. Usually, M-F, my days are spent driving to/from school, to/from swim and doing my "Mom/wife" things. When we go to Vegas, in a short time I can go shopping, gamble and have fun! They get it and let me really embrace it this trip.

We felt the Prestige level @ Palazzo was perfect for us as we do spent a lot of time at the hotel and in our room. It was not work for everyone, for us, it did. The rooms were just beautiful. Customer service again, was just, wow!

So, that is it. Not quite as exciting as the Vdara one, but much more enjoyable:wave: Kim

Glad to hear this trip went so perfect, far cry from the last trip to LV
Good to see you got some *solo slot* time and had fun playing them, got the perfect room with no issues for you all, and had some quality family time

Belated happy birthday and have fun in Hawaii :)

Glad to hear that this trip worked out better. Interesting to note that on your trip Wynn casino was dead also. I was there 2 weeks ago, and we trekked down to the Wynn / Encore, and it couldn't have been deader on a Sunday afternoon. Like literally almost empty on both sides. have never seen the Wynn that slow before, and this was on a fight / Kentucky Derby weekend when it should have been busy?

It was almost eerie how dead it was over the weekend. There was a fight and the Vegas Uncorked. You would have never known. We got thru airport security in 60 secs on a Sun. Very strange!

We had so much fun, we are thinking of going back Memorial Day weekend. We have tix to fly there, just not home. Trying to figure it all out. We are now forever spoiled by the Palazzo! On food/ drinks for the entire weekend we only spent $100, I am totally serious. My gamble budget, well, that will remain a mystery!

Cool! I am making another quickie trip this weekend also, although I was just there 8 days ago!

I see that you live in North Scottsdale, we have a house in McDowell Mtn. ranch, near the Sanctuary golf course.

Yes it is strange as a good friend just returned and was talking about how busy it was--maybe the area by the Venetian wasn't as crowded :confused2:

We live right on the edge of Cave Creek/ North Scottsdale. We so want to move, but with the market right now.... we are the lucky ones, we are fine with our mortgage ( bought before market went crazy) home values, not so much.

So our "mini" trips keep us sane for now! We are making it our staycation place this summer. Cheap, easy drive/flight, good deals. Have fun!

I stayed at Palazzo Apr 25-30th and it was packed, even in the very wee hours of the morning. Strange it was so quiet when you went. Glad to hear you enjoyed Palazzo; V/P always has excellent customer service and really go out of their way to make you feel you and your business are important to them.

I think everyone was at the pool from what my DH told me. I am telling you, LV Blvd was oddly, eerie, quiet. Reminded me of post 9/11 when we got married. Wynn/ Encore, ghost town. Down by PH, MGM, ect was busier, the mall inside PH, dead. Still trying to decide if we are going back for Memorial Day. With our Hawaii trip in 4 weeks, having a hard time convincing DH. AZ is kinda boring this time of year. I told DH me and Bella will go and he can stay home! Short 5 hr drive or we can fly as we have tickets...

Now that we are spoiled @ Palazzo, we want to go back! :)
