    My Trip Report

OK, bear with me...first trip report.

My spring break is different from my kids, so my wife actually let me go alone. I guess I'm already lucky!

This was my first trip. Went with 5 friends who are regulars. I was like a kid in a candy shop! We stayed at the Barbary COast. My buddies like to stay there because it's convenient, small and right in the middle of everything. I loved the location and the breakfast, but will stay elsewhere next time. Just a little too low key for my taste. Great Bloody Marys though!
We arrived around 3:30 in the afternoon after our flight from Indy. From the moment we arrived, I was totally blown away. My gambeling experience to this point had been limited to a few trips to the boats near Cinci. I couldn't wait to get going. Played a bit at the BC, then started down the strip, after a quick sandwich at Harrah's. Had the Italian Stallion at the cafe at the sports book.MMmmmm. We ended up at the MGM around 10:00 after stopping at a few places along the way. Things were beginning to get a little fuzzy by this time. Anyway, I sat down at one of the bars to take it easy and play a little video poker and relax. After putting in $20, I hit a ROYAL!! $1000.00! What a way to start the trip!I didn't cash another travelers check the rest of the week!
Other Highlights...Saw "O" on Monday. GREAT show. I was blown away by the entire production from the "opening" of the curtain until the end. Ey-yey-yey!
Went downtown one night and played $1 craps at the El Corteze. That was an experience. A retired elementary teacher from Columbus gave me and my buddy a lesson in how to play. She was great. Like she was teaching her 3rd graders. Very patient and very friendly. Hope I have that much energy when I'm retired! Thanks Sandy and Walt! Later that night ended up at The Palms. Talk about a study in contrast! Checked out the ghost bar(great view) and then Played Black Jack until the sun came up. Had a GREAT dealer, Linda. Got back to my bed at about 8a.m. with an extra $250.00 in my pocket! By now I think my "vet" buddies were getting a little perturbed, because I was the only one winning.
    Random thoughts...
Loved the lobby at the Bellagio, but didn't enjoy the casino..BLAAAAHHHHgio. Thought NYNY was great. Would like to sty there next time. Also thought the casino at Paris was great. Was unimpressed by the attitude of the Hard Rock. They seem like they are trying abit too hard to be cool. Take a lesson from the Palms! Had great time at the bar overlooking the casino at the Alladin.

Too much!!! I'm rambling. Can't wait to get back...even if I'm not as lucky next time. What a great town!

  2. Glad to hear you had a good time. It's always fun to win, but especially on your first trip. Do you Vegasitis yet?

We're already planning our next trip. My wife had no desire to go before, but I think she's coming around.

Outstanding!! Sounds like you had a great time!

Here's something to consider.....think about making your Spring Break trip with your buddies an annual event...everyone knows it's the same time every year, and after a couple of years, it's a bonafied tradition, and now you Have to go! hahahaha been working like a charm for me for years! hahahahaa of course, I go other times of the year with my wife, but those trips are very different from the trip with the guys.

    LvTerry,
Great idea! I just need to find some friends who are willing to go with me. All my friends are fishing junkies. I guess I could tell them about Hoover dam. It worked for Randy Quaid in Vegas Vacation. :D [IMG]

They could always play that goofy Reel 'Em In machine!

An annual spring break trip with the guys....that's a brilliant idea.

sounds like a good trip. we use to go every six months up to the time turned 18. just went for the first time since i was 18 (5 years) in january and other than the weather, it was great. id love to go w/o the wife, but she made it a point that i cannot go to a state where prostitution is legal w/o her. i second your thought about staying at NYNY. here are some tips if you do stay there:
    1. request a corner room. they have 2 windows and the best view.
    2. if they mess up and call you at 10pm there time (1am my time) to tell you that your in the wrong room, tell them about it to their face (ask for the manager). then tell them you want upgraded to a better room and some comps (got us a 700sqft suite with some freebies).
    3. DO NOT TRY THE 20 TRICK. it does not work there. they say its a violation of the rules to accpet a tip if your working the desk.

if you have any other questions about NYNY, e-mail me at [email protected]

i have a few pics of the suite we had and all as well.

    ;)

ps, trying to plan my next trip out, but if airfare stays the way it is for the time i can go, im staying home.
