I have done a few trip reports in the past but they have always been after the trip when my memory has been shot and I am extremely tired from blowing wads of cash and sleeping 4 hours a night

I think this time I am going to do a live trip report which should keep me out of the casino for a few hours haha. I am going to start my trip report before arrival in Vegas to get the basics out of the way. Here goes...

Dates: 4/3-4/7

Hotel: Wynn 4/3-4/6(still need to figure out where I am staying on our final night)

Crew: My gf and I

Bankroll: still set at $1,000 but still thinking about increasing

GOC(Game of Choice): Craps and roulette are a given. I need to find another dice controller!!! I haven't seen a heater since my first trip to Vegas as a 21 year old and this guy at the Paris rolled for an hour. I made so much money and didn't really even understand the game. I'm sure there will be a BJ session and I would really like to play some VP and baccarat but those two games are big maybe's.

Goal: Make it rain...


Other thoughts: I might need to up my bankroll because on the Wizard of Odd's free play craps, I can blow through a grand in a few minutes

 

$1,000 for 4 nights at the Wynn with best case minimums of $10/hand roll might entail a high risk of ruin depending of course on how many hours per day you plan on playing.

If you play tight and low you could get by but it would be tough to make a play aggressive enough to "make it rain".

Maybe start slow and increase bets as you get on a run.

I've upped my roll for this upcoming trip. The last two was 1200 for gambling for 4 days and 5 days respectively. That was ok because we were doing a lot of touristy shit and the gaming time was spread out.

This time its up to 1500 for three days. 500 bucks a day. 300 for craps, 200 for roulette and a hundo for whatever.

You're right - when those craps tables are cold the money burns fast as hell Nothing sucks more than being at a point-seven-point-seven table. Gotta find a heater and ride it.

Where do you shoot craps at mostly?

 

I would so be all over upping my bankroll if the gf wasn't coming. I need money for restaurants and shows and crap like that. She doesn't gamble, so keeping her entertained is pricey. I'm going to see if I can't move some money around next week. I usually avg around $1k per day on most trips.

Favorite places to play craps include the Wynn, Bellagio and for some odd reason the TI.

 

Amen to that. If I could cut out the high priced food and shows and shopping then I'd be in heaven.

I've never shot at those places, but I will check 'em out.

I like Royale, Bills, Paris and Mirage..all had good vibes.

 

My wife and I will also be in town 4/4-4/8, staying at Bellagio. I'm looking forward to some early morning sessions of BJ and craps with a daily bankroll of around $700. If I can hit one good run I would like to move up to a $25 min. table.

 

Bellagio has that great $10 table with an awesome crew right on the walkway over by the cage. One of my favorite places to play craps.

 

I just booked the final night of our stay at the Bellagio. I'm actually a little excited because I have never stayed at the Bellagio before and they actually had the best offer for one night. I'm sure their standard room is nothing like Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Palazzo but for 100 bucks and $50 in food/beverage credit, I think it was a good rate. Venetian wanted almost $300 for 1 night or 2 nights free... Crazy! I guess MGM-Mirage is starting to come around.

 

I just opened up an account with Citibank today for my Vegas bankroll. Count it! I got $100 for being a new customer and $50 for being a referral. I think the plan is to keep tossing in hundo's till I leave for my trip.

 

BeeeJay, that the same tables I play on. Even the wife knows where I'm at , because she comes over to get chips to cash in so I don't blow through all my winnings. Still can't figure out how she knows I'm ahead. Because of all the yelling and screaming at the hot table. She looks to make sure I'm on the right one. Sometimes I like that, gives my bankroll a little pushin for the cushin. Garry

 

Bellagio is one of best places in town to roll dice - good dealers, plenty of space, good locale within casino.
Before BJ got in my blood, craps was the game of choice and Bellagio was my No. 1 playing choice.

 

I just purchased 2 gift cards from Bellagio and Wynn with the intent of allocating my restaurant and entertainment funds a little better. I have not been to my apartment in a few days but I should also have a Palazzo gift card waiting for me there as well. This way it's not like "wait wait one more bet and then we'll go to SW..." so I can sit there with my woulda coulda shoulda face.

 

Update: The Palazzo gift card came but it has a Discover logo on it, so I guess it's not just for the resort. The shipping was like $12!

I have just over 7 days left!!! Ugh...the weather here in Chicago is horrible as usual. This place is such a drain sometimes. I know midwesterners are all about Chicago but what makes this city so cool? The sales tax is the highest in the nation, the weather sucks, it's dirty, the people here are mean and it's not really a melting pot of cultures like NYC. I wouldn't be surprised if the Census revealed the city was shrinking.

Down to just under 4 days!!! Wooohooo!!! The crappy part is I might be getting sick. Go figure. I haven't been to Vegas since June, already had a cold a couple weeks ago and now my nose is runny/stuffy and I keep trying to cough up congestion from the back of my throat. I'm HOPING it's just allergies. I had itchy eyes earlier in the day so that's why I am thinking it could be allergies.

I'm still debating on my flight. The late departure, 2 hour layover in Minneapolis and plane I have never been on before(CRJ900) has me wanting to book a super expensive non-stop flight. I just want to be there already! I was even thinking of just booking a one-way non-stop for my journey to Vegas and keeping my current Hotwire booked flight for the return but Delta says if you skip one leg, it cancels them all. WTF. Also, the gf is being a pain and says I have to pay for her non-stop flight as well if I change. There goes my whole bankroll!!! Errr...

Has anyone ever heard of this skipping one leg of your flight and having it cancel your whole roundtrip? I don't know about Delta but I am pretty sure I did that on United once without a hitch. I should just ditch the gf and leave on Friday after work non-stop...lol

 

Yes, this was one of the changes as a result of 9/11 to help ease terrorism possibilities. I think they found that persons of suspect interest were only buying one way tickets. If you ever buy / use a one way ticket, you will also find that you will go through extra scrutiny at the airport. May be easing up on this lately, but this is how it has been since the 9/11 airport changes.

 

I was in travel for 26 years and yes Delta will cancel your return flight if you do not use the outbound.
If you do not check in you will be listed as a no-show and your complete reservation will be canceled--and that is how all the major airlines are-not just Delta.
And having booked the flights with Hotwire really gives you no leeway.
If booked with Delta directly you may have been able to change the outbound flight for a fee.
You may want to call Delta and see if they will let you change the outbound to a different time--but unless you get the right person it probably will not happen--

Update

Wow, what a day! I’ve been looking forward to my Vegas trip for awhile. I have been on the grind at work since November and I found out I was fired today. Of course it was one of those “we really like you but maybe your talents would be used best somewhere else” excuses. I felt like I was in the movie Up in the Air. I skipped Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years’ and my birthday for this company and this is the thanks I get. Furthermore, they knew I was about to go on vacation so I am undecided if it’s worse to hear you are fired before or after. The truth is that this company is managed poorly and is driving itself into the ground. I am one of the few brave enough to stand up and say something to the owners.

I left my old office and just wanted to get out of Chicago. My Vegas trip was suppose to start on Saturday but I needed to get out of that city. I walked up Michigan Ave and immediately started hitting the phones and booked Friday night tickets for my gf and I for $800 one-way. I mean it sounds crazy but being fired and having no income can make people do crazy things. I was able to get a free room at the Venetian with $10 match play…lol I’m still on the plane to Vegas so I wonder how the Venetian will be. I’ve never been a fan of Venetian/Palazzo but they came through when I needed them. I have stayed at the Palazzo, so I wonder how the Venetian will compare because it’s obviously older.

I feel like making one carny bet as soon as I get there. I guess roulette sounds like the obvious choice but now I am thinking about all the table games to choose from. $100 on red sounds right about now… The first roulette table I spot so I can be like that guy from the UK that bet his entire life savings of $100k on red. Hmmm more updates to come…

 

10:04 AM Vegas time and still in bed. We went to bed at 4 AM last night which was kind of rough because our bodies felt like it was 6 AM. Of course I am up at 9 AM wanting to hit the shower but maybe a little rest would be nice.

Last night was really fun. I managed to only lose $240 for the night in gambling and that included buying drinks at the bar and cigarettes. Yeah yeah I know you get free drinks while playing but the cocktail service was on the slow end. I MUST SAY, $100 of that $240 was blown on my arrival carny bet. I still had my suitcase in my hand, whipped out a hundo and tossed it on red....BLACK! Ugh... Oh well... I played only at Venetian last night, too. BJ was an instant burn but I had really nice small hits playing VP double double bonus and the Big Wheel. I know you guys think I am crazy playing that big wheel but I hit the 20-1 with $5 on top.

A few thoughts about the Venetian... When we arrived, we didn't get that normal let me open your cab door for a tip treatment so whatever and the line was huge with no invited guest check-in. At check-in they said they could get me into the Palazzo but I would have to wait an hour for the room. WTF. Who is checking out at midnight? So I have a normal king suite at the Venetian which looks almost exactly like a Palazzo room in my opinion. The view is crap but I will only be here for one night so I can deal.

Oh and the cab driver tried taking me down Las Vegas Blvd on a Friday night. What a piece... I told him the road behind the east-side Strip and he drove on Paradise with a frown.

Enjoy your trip....may as well live it up!! They do have an invited guest check in at Venetian, it's the counter to the left of Registration. The pool at Venetian is better than Palazzo if you plan to do some pooltime!

 

I guess the invited guest registration closes after midnight.

I just woke up from going back to sleep. It's 12:53 Vegas time and now time to find some food. Maybe Dos Caminos and a carny bet before...lol
