    My Trip Report

I usually take notes and write the trip report when I return home, but I will be updating this TR daily this time.

Flew from College Station Texas via Houston and wasted three hours from the second we landed at LAS to the time we were dropped off at the Golden Nugget. I suggested a taxi ride as it would be quicker, but was out voted in order to save a few bucks. All I will say is there were alot of angry, rude, and petulant people who swore never to take the Executive shuttle again. I, being tired and cranky myself, stated that the time wasted had always been the same for me and the man driving the shuttle had no control over the number of stops he had to make and how long we had to wait at lights. I dislike the shuttles and always get out voted when trying to suggest a taxi, so we'll hope for better later in the year. :wink2:

Best friend and I walked around downtown, her first time in Vegas and many visits for me. She expected much worse from the Golden Nugget as her husband, excuse me, ALL KNOWING HUSBAND, warned her of the condition of the downtown casinos and hotels. I will only say that she was surprised and the hubby was informed of the superior condition of the Nugget. :nworthy:

My friend had told me that this was merely a vacation for her, to read, relax, sight-see, and at most, she'd gamble $20. She knows I am a slot player and we agreed to do our own thing and meet up for meals. I really don't like this type of vacation, but my husband wasn't available to go with me and I DESPERATELY NEEDED a little slot-time, so she was chosen.

I hit the Fremont, Four Queens, and a few slots at the Nugget to show my friend the different winning combinations, bets you could make, and the like. She had some free play with her new players card, lost $2.50 and immediately stopped playing. I went on my way, lost $185 over the course of the evening as is typical my first day back in Vegas, so I decided to look for particular machines that 'spoke to me' before I headed to the room. BTW - the $185 included the shuttle and return shuttle, a buffet, a new purse, Walgreen's shampoo, conditioner, water, toothpaste, soap and a few other items.

While I walked around the Nugget on my 'First Night Massacre' I remembered that I won a good sized bankroll the last time I was in Vegas on some machines to the right side of the bar. So away I go to find the same bank of machines. Unfortunately, everything had been rearranged, as is typical in Vegas, so I decided to dump my remaining TITO into a random Monopoly machine.

To the right of the bar, MONOPOLY the 4th machine from the left on the bank of machines against the wall - I put in the TITO, spun a few times, hit a great bonus round with a ton of free spins, choose this character and that character, and when it was all done, I had won $1281.00 on a PENNY MACHINE, at $3 a maxed out roll. I cashed out, grabbed the TITO, and immediately went upstairs to show the friend. :Þ She crowed about it and wanted to know how much I had lost before I had won that... I hate to admit that that Kenny Rogers song started playing in my head... 'Don't count your money til the playin is done'. On the downside, on the phone call to her hubby, he suggested she take the winnings from me so that I wouldn't blow them. Well, THAT will not happen. :grrr: Each of you should realize by now that taking non-gamblers on a Vegas vacation is a mistake, it's too bad that I have yet to realize this. :rolleyes2:

Anyway, I will get the exact machine number tomorrow. Some people think slots are all random, but I like to play on winning machines, and I like to share, so it'll be posted tomorrow sometime.

More to come as it happens.

    Monopoly Slot Machine #1234

I went downstairs to check the machine number and to play for a bit more and the machine information is:

Monopoly Jackpot Station #1234 - it's the 4th one to the left on the wall.

In addition, I played and won $978.69 :nworthy: on:

Heehaw #1115, which is right behind the roulette table, the machine to the far left. I hit two different payouts, very much like a progressive, 5 corn and a 9 corn payout.

Either my friend is good luck and I should feel bad for complaining about her dislike of gambling or my new purse is good luck! I'll take her to breakfast and lunch tomorrow JUST IN CASE!

Okay, forget it... the friend just said - and I quote, 'I don't know why you even went down to gamble again, you could have easily LOST the money you played with'. Hmmm, that's what you call it GAMBLING! LOL!

I got a picture of the TITO - removing the barcode and pertinent info, hopefully it'll attach right!

I did a trip with a non-gambler once. I actually couldn't WAIT to go home.

She would "judge" me every time I put a dime down. The worst part, she was "clingy" She would sit next to me while I played a slot..or worse, STAND behind me as I sat at a table..like a bodyguard. I would just start to feel like I was getting into a groove, and she'd be sighing behind me.

At least YOUR friend lets you go on your own. I had a permanent shadow for 3 days.

Nevada has liberal gun laws. Buy a gun, kill your friend....and enjoy the rest of your vacation in peace.

Congrats on the win, I'm leaning toward agreeing with Rick here, holy crap, I know you needed to get away, next time I'd go solo though, as that 'friend' would be bringing me way too down on a trip. Get her drunk or something, or just get drunk yourself. Hope you are able to blow it off, as I doubt I would be able to.

    Lesson Learned...

Thanks for sharing. It is a reminder to all of us that taking along someone who doesn't "get" Vegas may be detrimental to the trip.

I was afraid my wife was in that category the first time we went but we also had two or three shows to go to (George Strait and Celine Dion). She would have been okay with that alone. We could have worked past her not liking the gaming because she would have had the concerts to attend. Without that, it would have been bad if she didn't like Vegas...

All turned out well...she got hooked on slots and now I am the voice of reason...

I won't be taking along a non-gaming friend based on what I've learned here...I'll take them fishing or something! No drags allowed on my Vegas time!!

I know what everyone is saying here. I brought a lady friend who was not intersted in gambling at all, even though I informed her, that I go to Vegas to gets my gamble on. She said no problem as long as I take her to a nice place to eat, and go to the pool. Anyway, I am sitting at a $1 machine in NYNY, and hit for $300. As soon as it gets done clinking away, she reaches over me and hits the payout button. As I look at her with crazy eyes, she grabs the ticket and runs to the change booth. I was so angry!! Needless to say, she is no longer my lady friend!

Great work so far. I would turn the volume down on what your friend and her husband have to say. If nobody gambled she wouldn't even be in Las Vegas because it would be a small town in the middle of the desert.

Great report and some nice wins. I'm guessing the luck is your new purse! We have non gaming friends who always want to go to LV with us. I'm honest and tell them all we do is eat drink gamble and sleep a little. No shows no concerts. They still say they'd have but I know I wouldn't have fun! People are too funny.

Try to take my TITO to keep me from playing in Las Vegas and you would pull back a bloody stump! :grrr: Congrats on the wins! This is the very reason I go solo and leave my spouse at home. He doesn't gamble and doesn't want me to do it when we are there. Yeah, like that's gonna happen! :nono:

    Thanks for posting your report!

    Continued good luck to you!

My girlfriend was in the "no gamble" camp. When we'd go to Peru to visit her family they have casinos there. I won $300 bucks playing slots there and she gave me the evil eye the whole time, saying I was there too damn long and throwing money away. That was when we were relatively new.

Now we're looking at our third trip coming up and she's slowly moving into the world of us degenerates, although she has much more restraint that I will ever have.

She likes Big Six, Roulette and Casino War.

    Now she's learning blackjack.

Just 1 question, you said your 1st win was $1281 on a penny machine, and you got TITO, I'm confused, any win over $1199 is a taxer?

Paying taxes on $1200 or over single play

Nope, a TITO came right out of the machine for $1281.00. I think the exact wording is a that you are taxed on a 'SINGLE PLAY $1200 OR OVER', I had been playing and building up a pot. If I had won a SINGLE pot, like a progressive for $1200 or over they would have probably been on me because the machine would have locked up and an attendant would have been needed. And if I am wrong, I was PRETTY LUCKY! Should have taken a pic of that TITO as well, but didn't even think about it until after I had won on Heehaw.

Looking forward to more of your TR!! Brings back memories of my first trip to Vegas, I went with a non-gambling friend, who also turned out to be cheap, miserable about everything and just weird, now I go solo!! There's nothing worse than having someone over your shoulder when you're playing. At least she's not joined at the hip.

    Good for you my dear!
thanks for the machine locations too. i'll make sure to hit them in 2 weeks!!!! (can't wait!!!!!!)
My husband does not gamble either but he has no problem staying home with the kids and wishing me luck:kiss:

My first few times in Vegas was for work and i discovered i can have great fun being and gambling alone and taking in the sights. now i go just for fun 2-3 times a year. I usually decide on dates based on hubby's weird hospital schedule (we usually know a couple months in advance) and then I get the word out to selected friends. I always warn non-gambling friends that we will each do our own stuff and meet for meals, drinks and shows...if they want to tag along with me they are welcome but they are free to do their own stuff.

My bestest is when I go with a couple of gambling buddies...we all gamble separately but we go to the same places and meet up regularly to compare notes and drinks :drunk:

For my upcoming trip we said "no shows", just gambling and drinking and eating. We plan to hit Boulder highway for the first time and downtown, but also some strip and off-strip properties (gotta keep those free offers from HET coming, I guess:woohoo:)

I've never done a trip report but i will try to do one this time.
