  1. Trips to Vegas: August 2004, November 2004, June 2005, August 2008, July 2009, This Trip

The Cast: Me (Jen, the Birthday girl and the super excited one)
Hubby (Michael loves Vegas but not as much of a gambler as me)
Middle Sis (Lori fun but also the control queen of the group)
Lori's Hubby (Helder resident non gambler aka my boss)
Oldest Sis (Terry is the penny machine queen)
Terry's Hubby (Cory aka Yukon Jack which is what he drinks from
morning until bed while in Vegas)

Headed out of work at noon on Friday for a fast hour or so drive to the Fresno, CA airport. Hubby and I rode with Lori and Helder with Terry and Cory following. Arrived early, guys parked the car while the girls waited with the luggage. Had a little snafoo through security. BIL Cory had knee replacement a couple of years ago. He had a Dr. note but they still gave him the runaround for a while after he beeped. (Nothing like Vegas on the way home though) We were way earlier than planned so we grabbed a table for a quick snack since none of us have had lunch. An order or nachos, chicken strips, cheeseburger, Jack & Coke, Yukon & 7, Sam Adams, and 3 Bloody Mary's later..... 172.00!!!!!! Yikes!!! We should have waited for Vegas!

Arrived on time and we were supposed to have a limo from The Palazzo picking us up. There were two Palazzo drivers there but neither of them were holding my name up! Hmmmmm Walked back and forth by baggage claim a couple of times and decided to call. I get the please continue to hold....yada yada so I wait. In the meantime, Sis Lori grabbed one of the other drivers and he made a call in to base. Alas our driver is a few minutes behind but on his way! Tom shows up, we cram our 6 butts into the two rather narrow bench seats facing each other. A couple of us are a little wider than that limo required I think but we managed. Off to the liquore store for some stock for the weekend. 2 12 packs of Coors Light, case of water, bottle of Jack Daniels, bottle of Yukon Jack, Diet Pepsi, 7up, Sugar Free Red Bulls and we are off! Invited guest check-in was a little backed up, received my 2 free comped suites, 650 in slot credits, 150 dining credit, and we are hitting the elevator!

Suites are beautiful just as I remembered. We have adjoining rooms but we booted the 4 of them over to the other one so we had our own room. Freshened up a bit and headed downstairs for some slots. We are all slot players. I play all slots.. penny, $1, $5, my sisters pay mostly penny but some nickel, BIL Cory plays penny and Helder doesn't normally play. First night was pretty lucky, not W2G lucky but we all did pretty well.

I hit a Top Dollar machine over towards the back wall, kind of by Grand Luxe and hit bonus after bonus on that. If you aren't familiar with those machines you are offered amounts and you have 3 opportunities to either take the offer or decline. I hit that bonus at least 10 times and the majority of the time it was 175.00 offers. I cashed out over 1000.00 up. In the meantime, the non-gambler Helder decided to hit a nickel machine and won 500.00! We were happy for him. Played some random machines for the next few hours, most of them were good to me. Hit the Glinda bonus a few times on WOZ and cashed out 800.00 up. Headed into the High Roller room, played a dollar Goldfish at 25.00 a spin, hit a bonus and won 750. Not such a great win for such a rich machine but it was fun. Played a few more 5.00 machines and moved on. Had a late dinner of yellow tomato soup and grilled cheese at the Grand Luxe. All in all it was fun and we all went to bed ahead.

Saturday morning we woke up around 7. 7 is pretty much sleeping in for me as I am usually up getting ready for work at 4:45. I laid out all of my tickets on the bed..(should have taken a picture!) I had 145.00, 841.00, 336.00, 1087.00, 221.00, 432.00. Good start to the trip! We all got ready and met downstairs for a trip over to the Wynn. Helder stayed behind for some breakfast at Del Toro but we weren't hungery yet.

I had a birthday free play offer from Wynn for 150.00. We headed over there and I got it added to my card. My sisters had never been to the Wynn and we all walked around and checked out the scenery for a while. I spied a bank of blazing 7 progressive $1's. Love these old school machines! Even though these were a newer version. I didn't hit the progressive but I did pull off 3 red 7's twice and mixed 7's once for a total of 800.00. Played a Tabasco and a few others.. not much going on in this casino.

Helder showed up and we found out a friend of ours, which is also a comedian, Matt Kazam was in town doing some shows over at Palace Station. Him and his wife headed over to hang out for the afternoon and we decided that we would go see the show that night. The four of us girls got on the new Sex and the City machines and had a blast! We all took turns with the bonuses and we loved them. The shoe bonus was my favorite by far! We never hit Mr. Big but we sure tried.

We had lunch at Grand Luxe. Everyone's food was great except for mine. I had the short rib grilled cheese and it was so greasy I couldn't eat it. I had a couple of bites of hubby's Rib Eye which was excellent. Helder's chicken strips were amazing as well as the pulled pork sandwich Lori ordered.

After lunch they all headed over to the Venetian and hubby and I headed down to Harrahs where I was double booked in order to get my free play. Harrah's wasn't nearly as far as I thought it was going to be and we were there in no time. Now here is where the fun beings....NOT! Check-In was smooth, I did not realize Diamond had their own room and I used the regular line. Very very short wait. The girl realized it was my birthday and upgraded us to an exectutive suite on the 40th floor. The room was a little dated but still a nice room overall. Nice big living room with a couch and chair, no flat panel tv's, nice size dining room table, King bed with another couple of chairs overlooking the Mirage, big bathroom, two sets of double sinks, jacuzzi tub, no mini bar which I thought was strange. Headed back down to the players club to get my voucher for my cash offer. This is where it went south. The guy at the player club was rude, very rude. Stated he didn't see the offer booked with my room therefore it wasn't valid. I said I did book it with my room. He says not according to my computer. He then proceeds to look over my shoulder while I am still talking and says NEXT.... WTF! Ok so now I am pissed and ready to say screw it we are leaving but hubby says no no let's go to the diamond check in room and get it straightened out. We literally spent the next two hours and more trips across that casino than I could count for 500.00. I encountered a few nice but mostly rude people. Honestly, I don't care if I ever step foot in a Harrah's property again... they can take their free play and get creative with it. My experience at the Venetian and Palazzo blow them away and I would much rather stay there. Ultimately I did receive the offer and I basically turned around and gave it back to them on a $5 machine. We gambled a very small amount and left. I'm sure it knocked my average play rating into the ground but I don't think I care at this point. I have enjoyed my Harrah's trips to Lake Tahoe and I did email my host there to explain the circumstances. As far as Vegas, no Harrah's for me ever again!!!

Headed back to the Palazzo to play some JOB at the Fusion bar. Had a couple of Tequila's infused with grapefruit, pretty yummy, and headed up to the room to get ready for Matt's comedy show. We were told that Palace Station was 45 minutes away so we got a limo over there for 100.00. Turns out it was about a 7 minute ride... the cab ride on the way back was 9.00! LOL Comedy show was great, he was hilarious as usual. Gambled a bit at Palace Station before heading back to the Palazzo. Hubby wasn't feeling good so we headed back to the room around midnight.

Next morning we gambled a little bit, Terry hit 500.00 on a JAWS bonus and then won another 300.00. That put her even at the end of the trip. Checked out, grabbed the limo, had some lunch at the airport. We were home in our own house by 4:30 PM Sunday which was nice. All said and done, I came home about 700 ahead. It was a fun trip! Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks for reading my first trip report. Hopefully I will get better with practice!

    Jen

Loved your trip report. It was an easy to follow read. Great to hear of all your nice wins. Coming home 700 hundred up is fantastic. I too love the Palazzo. 2 or 3 days would never be enough for me.......but I have a much longer plane ride from Wisconsin. lol

JEN-what a great trip and so much fun.
You really can't ask for much more. Too bad about your time at Harrahs--I always stay there a few nights but have not had this problem--usually everyone is so nice.

Thanks for taking the time to write.

What a great start with all those tickets. Wish I could hold onto mine thru one evening but it seems as soon as I put them away, I lose and need to pull them out again!

hey ya can't go wrong with a report that includes The Palazzo, heavy gambling, heavy drinking, and Grand Lux!!!

I with you, can't wait til Harrah's goes belly up, either that or their properties turn to dust due to lack of maintenance. I save all those Harrah's mailers---in case I run out of toilet paper!:evillaugh

Nice report, that sucks on the Harrahs run around. Glad you at least got it worked out, amazes me, that they are so disconnected in their departments and no one tends to care that to the guest it should be absolutely transparent.

As has been noted before in other threads, casino monopolies bring about poor customer service!
