    My Trip Report

We just returned from my 30th b-day weekend trip about 2 hours ago without the 1 bag we checked..hopefully it will be delivered to the house sometime tonight. This trip trip report will be a day by day summary. If anyone would like more detail info on what we did, liked, or disliked just ask. We are very much food and wine people and eating is one of the main focuses of our trip.

Thurs 2/11: checked in to Encore about midnight...guess it was really fri. morning but we left Richmond, Va, connected in Atl. I met the coach of the Pitt Steelers (Mike Tomlin) while we were waiting to board our connector, no one else recognized him so I didnt bother him for a picture to attract attention to him. with every one panicking about snow in the morning. Glad it didnt affect us. At check-in we were upgraded to one of the panoramic suites. We were there back in May, maybe this influenced the free upgrade, I didnt see much of a difference in views, but it did have a great south strip view. Room # 6036.

Fri 2/12: after breakfast from the cafe in Encore (got our morning snack their every morning and brought it back to the room) we ventured down the strip to pick up our show tickets for the week. Had lunch @ Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in MGM..very good...pizza w/ wine...I did take pics of every dish we ate all weekend..I can send these if anyone has specific questions about what we ate...caught about 4 songs of the Big Elvis show @ Bills...I have to do this everytime...for dinner we ate @ Botero inside the Encore. we did the 6 course tasting menu and it was great! caught the 930 show of KA...loved it! sat in section 202 per the recommendation of Gregrio who knows his stuff!!thank you......you really need to sit up and in the middle because the stage and performers are constantly moving all over the place.

Sat 2/13:walked up the strip to see Riveria and Sahara for the first time..won $20 on a single pull of a penny slot machine...the wheel of fortune one with the giant wheel you sit around...had lunch in Wazuzo in Encore...very good...the entire Wynn property was decked out for the Chinese new year celebration...had dinner @ Table 10 inside Palazzo..also very good...stooped for a drink @ Double Helix wine bar afterwards...then headed back to MGM for the 1030 Crazy Hore show...also very good...the theatre seating isnt the greatest..you have to share a very small table of 4...so get there early so you can pick your seating at the table.

Sun 2/14: my b-day...30th....went downtown for the first time finally...hit a 4 of a kind on video poker in the Freemont...that was nice....after walking around went back to Palazzo for lunch at Lagasse's Staduim...the ultimate sports bar...food was good...tv's every where...has a book inside....awesome...even has VIP rooms which would be awesome for a party for any big event...that night we had dinner @ Alex in Wynn.....best dining experience of my life!!!! hands down....also the priciest but it was awesome...it cost almost the same as my per person hotel and airfare charge but it didnt matter...the sommelier took in cellar room and showed me their collection of Petrus..for all you wine guys....we spent over 4 hours their that evening....the hotel was also crazy for the chinese new year...they had a parade running thru the entire place...fun experience

Mon 2/15: late morning....but we walked around city center/ Aria for the first time....very confusing inside....very smoky for a "new casino" too....we ate at Julian Serrano..spanish tapas place...very good...and very reasonably priced.....then walked to Ballys for Jubilee...we really enjoyed it...classic Vegas cheese....but thats what we wanted to see...very entertaining....finished up back at Encore...ate some sushi played some more video poker then called it a night.

Tues 2/16: woke up...8 am flight......as I am typing this still waiting for my luggage...but another great Vegas trip!!!!!

Thanks for posting! I hope you get your luggage back soon. I have never stayed at Encore or Wynn, but after going there for the first time last week, I think I could get used to staying there.

Sounds like a reat trip. Have you tried Botero? If so, how would it compare to Alex's?

We tried Botero our first night...it was very good....the 6 course tasting menu is what we decided and the food and service was top notch...it is hard to compare it to Alex because of the high expectations we had with Alex but they are both very suitable for a nice night out. In a previous trip we tried Sinatra and enjoyed that as well

RVA, FYI - I know it's an hour +/- drive for you but the Norfolk airport has SW non-stop flights to Las Vegas w/ great flying times in both directions.
