    My Trip Report

I wrote this report on another board that I am a member of so I decided to post it here too. It is rather lengthy so it will be a continuing report. I had a great trip and love sharing the journey.

I left Chicago on December 30 at 12:00 and it was snowing. Flight arrived 30 minutes early and was uneventful. As you can imagine the airport was a zoo. Instead of my driver meeting me at baggage claim, there was a woman who collected my bags and met me at the lower level where my limo driver from the Wynn was waiting for me. He was the same driver who drove me at Thanksgiving and I was lucky to have the Bentley again. What a treat!

My room was ready immediately. Since it was such a busy time, I didn't get the Parlor Suite but I did have a King room in the Tower Suites overlooking the golf course on the 56th floor so I wouldn't have the night club noise (supposedly). Not only was it NYE but a high limit baccarat tournament was still in session (2 week event) so all the suites were sold out. I didn't take photos on December 30th of all my wins and am not sure why I didn't. Later in this first section I do have one picture of a win that day. My other wins were $900 on the Megabucks in an attempt to become a millionaire, 4 Aces on a $1 machine for $800 dollars, several $265 and like amounts on the $5 Wheel of Fortune. Played my favorite Crazy Four Poker and lost. My initial bankroll was $2000 and at the end of the evening I had $600 remaining. Not a great start but I had four more days to recoup and hopefully win.

On Wednesday, New Year's Eve I met friend who lives in Vegas for our New Year's Eve adventure at The Party. I asked her advice about my dress and accessories and maybe I should have kept my mouth shut. She took me on one unbelievable shopping spree. I bought the most expensive shoes I have ever owned and they were actually 75% off at the Shoe-In at the Wynn Esplanade. I also bought stockings I never knew about for a price I couldn't believe but the promise is they are the best feeling stockings and most durable I will ever own. Then we went to the Fashion Show Mall for makeup freshening, shawl purchase and jewelry. We found the makeup lady she likes at Nordstrom to freshen our faces for the party. All the makeup spots in the mall were saturated with customers wanting to look beautiful on NYE. I have never worn dangly bracelets but after a conference with the jewelry lady and my friend, I purchased three glittery bracelets to add to the one stretchy bracelet I had planned to wear. I got new earrings and a necklace which were glittery. I already had a glittery ring and brooch on my dress so I felt like a glitter queen later that night when I was dressed for the party. The shoes are what I would call stiletto heels so I had some practicing to do so I could walk normally. It was quite an adventure. As you will begin to notice, I love flowers so here is the first photo, my gift from my host:

We gambled a bit before going to the party and didn't win much as I recall. I didn't keep notes. We went to The Party at 9:00 and we were quite fancy if I can say so. Here are photos about this event:

Some of the photos are blurred, but I wanted to show as many different shots as possible as the room was so delightfully decorated. There was fun music during the dinner which was not that tasty as you would expect. The end of the evening was a procession of children with the flying butterflies but I only caught one good shot because of the movement.

We left at this point to go to my friend's room to watch the fireworks as she had a strip view. She actually had a perfect view of Treasure Island one of the several casinos roofs which shot fireworks at midnight. I will only include a few shots as they aren't terrific. My camera is new and I wasn't prepared to locate the fireworks feature in time.

On December 30 I won this on video poker:

On New Year's Eve I won this:

The first wins of the 2010 were these:

Later we played Crazy Four Poker and I again was losing. My last hand of the morning I decided to double all my bets and won a Straight Flush which earned me $3700!!!!! Hooray, I started the New Year with a bankroll of $5,032.

To be continued as there are five more days of reporting to come. I am still worn out from my trip and returning home to freezing, snowy weather. And tomorrow is my birthday which happens to also be my friend's birthday. How ironic that we have the same birth date as we just met last summer. Now I am just rambling because this has taken a long time to write. More to come.

    Nice Day 1 report

    Happy Birthday!

Happy New Year! What a way to start if off. WINNING.

Oooo, shopping at a resort. That is NOT cheap.

How many people did they have folding the little Origami butterflies?

Back in Vegas -thanks for the generous comments and birthday wishes. It was on the ninth.

I see why you would think those are butterflies since The Party decorations were all about butterflies as it is the Wynn/Encore motif. But the cranes are made by my daughter. I always bring them to Vegas with me. It was my friend's idea to sprinkle them over the invitation to make the picture fancier.

Several years ago on a birthday trip with my daughter she made some for us to sit on our chips when we played at the table games. It became our good luck object. It has now become a tradition to bring extra with me to Vegas because gamblers are a superstitious group and people started asking where they could get one. I give them to people at the tables I play at if they ask. Also many of the dealers have asked for them too.

I normally don't shop in Vegas and if I do usually it is at the Fashion Show mall only because I need something. That shopping spree was very unlike me but fun at the same time. My friend's career has been in retail so she is a very astute shopper. Whereas I like nice things but don't necessarily enjoy shopping. It usually is on a need to basis ;)

After resting in the morning as I went to bed at 6 a.m. I played a bit of Crazy Four and lost my money. My friend wouldn't join me again until the evening so I played some video slots:

I don't recall the remainder of the day but I do believe it was spent trying to win at Crazy Four Poker and not succeeding. Also I kept playing Video Slots despite the fact they didn't really like me so I lost at the too.

    January 2

At the end of the day on January 1, I had played back my wins due to my continuing love affair with Crazy Four Poker which had not liked me since New Year's morning. So I started playing video poker again. Here are the early morning wins on January 2:

I went to bed after 3:30 and my friend also returned home. We would meet again in the evening for dinner at Sinatra's at the Encore. I really don't recall my morning play but I do believe I tried Crazy Four again and lost because I was now out of my money and starting to take markers. I had a massage in the afternoon which was wonderful. Later I played video poker and some other machines before meeting her and won this on the $5 Pinball machine ($375):

    On Video Poker:

We then had dinner at Sinatra's. The food was delicious and the ambience of the restaurant was lovely.

After dinner was more video poker:

Followed by another attempt at winning at Crazy Four Poker at the Encore which failed for me. My friend fortunately was having a good session but I left to stop the bleeding. Video poker had been liking me better so I headed for the Encore Video Poker Bar overlooking the pools. It was extremely busy as it was around midnight. The first machine I tried was dirty and I couldn't get the bartender's attention to clean it so I hopped over to the next bar on the end machine. I started hitting and then I won:

This was a huge surprise as I thought I was playing a $1 machine. Woohoo, I was somewhat out of the hole from losing on Saturday. Then we returned to the Wynn to try our luck at Crazy Four again. I lost so we played some video poker and I won this:

Then I won this on Top Dollar after one of the pit bosses and my friend said many of their friends love this game and play it exclusively:

I was happy to end my day with a second jackpot. To be continued.......
