    My Trip Report

Hey everyone, I've been a fan of the site for awhile but haven't posted yet, but figured I may as well start with my first TR here. I'm a 24 year old college student, but thanks to a generous mom who loves to travel and gamble, I'm able to afford to gamble and have a great time when I travel with her, like I did on this trip. The format for this will be in sections since I like TR's better where people can get to certain sections quicker, so here it is and I hope you enjoy.

    Flight

I flew on Sun Country from Minneapolis to Vegas, always a solid airline, and they have a great deal where for $99 you can upgrade to first class at the airport, and there happened to be two seats available each way so we chose to take advantage. Being 6'3 the extra leg room is really nice. The meal there was a surprisingly good game hen, and on the way back a good hot turkey sandwich. The free drinks aren't too bad either!

    Hotel

This is my third stay at the Wynn Tower Suites, and I really like them. I had just a normal room, 5105, with a strip view. Two minor complaints were that first the airflow created a little whistling sound by the window and door whether the vent was open or not, and on Fri and Sat night I was able to hear a little music from the club in my room at like 3AM. Neither noise was too bad though, so no real problems.

I really like the Wynn a lot, it is super relaxing and chill, and the staff is incredibly nice and helpful always. The only thing I would say bad about it is that if I were coming with a group of friends and wanted a more exciting and energetic place to stay, I would choose another place. But for this trip the relative calmness of the place was nice and relaxing, not to mention hardly any kids which is always a good thing.

    Comps

My amazing host at the Wynn hooks me up with RFB while there, which gives me access to the nice little lounge near the Tower Suites lobby. They have little snacks like small sandwiches, nuts, fruit, and cookies all day, and pastries in the morning. Also the best part is that they have a basically limitless supply of alcohol that anyone can use straight from the bottles, and some pretty nice stuff too, along with plenty of mixes as well as beer, wine, and champagne.

I also get airport transportation in one of their amazing Phantoms. I ate at a lot of nice places this trip and my food went above my daily RFB, but my host took care of everything, and I even think I was a bit overcomped.

    Food

I ate some great meals on this trip, but as weird as it sounds going to nice places every nice got almost tiring. The whole routine of showering, putting on nice clothes, and sitting there for up to three hours is something that I will for sure do less in future trips.

Room Service-I just got this the first night. Some potstickers, chicken wings, and cookies. Everything was okay but nothing I'd go out of my way to get again.

Tableau-We went here twice, and it is a solid place for breakfast. I got the tableau breakfast one day and the sausage benedict type thing the next. Both very good breakfast items, and try their fresh pineapple juice and oj.

Alex-Went here on Sat night. I can't say enough great things about this place. The service is amazing, and respect when you dont know something or multiple things that are on the menu. They also wont even serve tap water, just fiji is the worst they'll give, but it is free with the meal so no worries, which I think is kind of cool. They have two options here, both around $150 a person, and let me tell you it is totally worth it. As much money as that is just think about how often you lose that quickly gambling. They also had a white truffle meal running about $400 bucks a person but I don't think I could really appreciate how good that would be for that much money. Dinner lasted almost 3 hours, and was the highlight of the trip food-wise.

Sinatra-My first time trying this, just decided to check it out after hearing good things about it. I had lamb chop and mom had the taste of wynn menu with the scallops. Both were very good, so I'd for sure recommend this place for a (slightly) more reasonably priced alternative at the Wynncore. They played a lot of old time music there, and although I liked it, I wondered if the staff got really sick of Sinatra playing almost all day every day. hmmm.

Mesa Grille-Went here for Sunday Brunch. Very good menu. Their toast/pastries they give everyone are redic. I had some kind of breakfast sausage tortilla thing which was great, and mom had very good mahi mahi. Great place, not too expensive, lots of good flavor and spice like Flay is known for.

Wing Lei-My second time here, the first I got the duck tasting menu which was really great. We just got a few different things here, the app sampler, fried rice, beef and broccoli, and a sweet prawn dish. Everything was really good, but the prawn dish was really incredible. They were super juicy and huge too. I like this restaurant quite a bit.

Julian Serrano's-This is the new tapas place in City Center from Picasso's (Bellagio) executive chef. I went here for lunch because I was a big fan of my meal at Picasso a year ago. All of our small dishes were alright, but I was pretty upset to find out that they didn't have any chorizo(sausage) left, so those dishes were out, which really sucked because like 1/5 of their menu was with chorizo. I really wasn't too impressed with anything. It was all okay, but nothing special like I'd come to expect from him. The place is pretty cool looking, and actually Chef Serrano was walking around the place talking to some women who supposably worked at Picasso in the past, or he's just a ladies man, who knows. I'd like to try the place again in like a year or so maybe at dinner to see if they've improved, since I had high hopes for this place.

Bartolotta-First time here, very nice seafood/italian restaurant. I was actually pretty hammered when I went here, so details are sparse. I do remember getting a lobster dish which was very good (spiny lobster I think). My mom got a steak, which I remember being a bit bland and not too exciting. They also had a great strawberry specialty drink here. I feel like I'd like to try this place again. They also had a special Top Chef LV tasting menu with recipes prepared from the show which is cool.

    Shows

The offer I came in with from Wynn included tickets to Garth, and that is the only show that I saw this trip. Let me first say outside of singing "friends in low places" drunk with friends at bars, I don't know much Garth Brooks, but am a mild country fan from living in Dallas for three years. Without a doubt I really liked this show. The small theater is great for a more personal experience, and my seats where center section, about 12 rows up in the middle, which I thought were very good for the show. They guy looks like an everyday guy but the out of nowhere starts belting out amazing music from other artists as well as himself. Without spoiling too much I'll say it was an amazing show, and the requests section at the end was particularly cool. There was a girl from Ireland that flew all the way here for the first time just to see him, and he sang a song she requested and she was tearing up, it was really special. This show is a must for anyone who is a Garth fan or even people that don't know many of his songs, because he is one hell of an entertainer.

    Gambling

I know this is many people's favorite section of many posts, including mine, so I'll try to report as much as I can remember, but there was nothing too crazy, and I'll post some of my better slot wins later in the report.

Craps-I really love craps since learning how to play awhile ago, but sadly unless you play like $500 on the table per roll, they won't really comp you much if you don't lose a ton, so I have to play some slots to keep the comps up even though I like some slots to relax too. Craps went pretty well this trip. I won about 2k overall after starting down about 3 or 4k. I usually play 10-25 on the pass with full odds and place the 6 and 8, pressing regularly. I had a lot of fun but the tables never got really into it, which is the fun part.

Slots- Bleh, slots here were nothing great. My mom lost tons of money playing penny slots like sun and moon, and adonis, but I hate that crap. I like dollar slots and once in awhile throwing a hundy into a $5 slot for fun. The first night I was down about $700 right away and I hit my one and only handpay of the trip for $1500 on a quack shot machine (see pic below). I had hardly anything else to speak of until the last day when I was playing my free play. I had about $550 in free play, and somehow turned it into just over 1k. Had some nice hits on the machines as seen in the last few of my pics. The hits on the triple double wild cherry and the triple triple diamond machines were especially nice. The first 5 or so pics are from previous trips, including the one with the wheel of fortune hit. Overall I came out a bit down on slots but overall I was even or a bit up, was hard to keep track.

    Closing thoughts

City Center-have to mention, like many I thought this place was very unimpressive. The place is a pain to get to, and Aria lobby looked like an airport. I walked here from Wynn twice, and had little desire to stick around. I played a bit here, but the casino was too dark, and was absurdly crowded just from foot traffic, so I was not a huge fan of this place so far, but am willing to give it another chance in awhile.

Slot wins-I don't know what it was, but I saw an insane amount of handpays. My mom's fav machines are close to the high limit area and the place with most of the $5 slots outside. I saw seriously at least 40 handpays just from walking around especially in the beginning of the trip. Some cool ones were 3xdouble diamonds on a reg $5 machine for $12,500, and I saw a lady hit $36,000 on a $25 triple double stars machine as I was walking by high stakes, and she was screaming, was pretty funny.

I had a great trip overall, very relaxing. I was flipping back and forth between wynn and palazzo for awhile, but I think I really like Wynn for a chill place the most. The service, staff, and dining choices can't be beat. I also like the machines and craps there. I played craps for awhile with a guy betting near table max($3k+ each number), but he lost a ton of money very fast. The bank account needs a break since I've been to vegas like 8 times in the last year, so I might take a break for at least a few months, but I had a good time and can't wait to get back. Thanks for reading, and if there are any questions about dining, gambling, comps, or anything else feel free to PM me. Thanks, and I look forward to contributing much more in the future!

I am wondering if your mom might be looking to make an adoption. My parents gave me luggage for a graduation gift from high school. No trips to the Wynn Tower Suites.

I've had similar luck with overcomping, but it sounds like you've got some "wynn trip history" and I think they look at an overall relationship more than trip to trip profitability like some of their large competitors.

    Great report and nice pics!

I'm a Wynn/Encore fan for the relaxation & service there.
God bless your travl'n loving-gambling loving mom who has allowed you to be introduced to the Vegas town during your youth.

Great photos documenting your wins. I would like to have just even ONE of those during my visit next week.
Your food reports were to the point and I had already decided that I was going to visit Sinatra.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

    UMKid,

I was at the Wynn at the Tower Suites Dec. 30-Jan 7 and saw the same Garth Brooks show you saw with the girl from Ireland. It was an amazing show and you described it well. I felt exactly the same as you about him only knew the one song of his and didn't realize what a great singer and guitar player he is. I have ridden in the Phantom too. Isn't it like riding on a cloud. I am not into cars but no one could ride in that car and not be impressed by it's elegance. Enjoyed your report! Your mom must be about my age but I cannot get my son to come to Vegas. Nice that you enjoy it with her. Very nice first time report. Loved the pictures too.

    Nice report

    One question

Do you give your mother a Mother's Day card? Or a least a phone call?

    If not, you had better.
