    My Trip Report

I made a last minute trip to Vegas at Thanksgiving as the Wynn made me a nice offer which included my normal comps of Tower Suite room, limo and food for my entire trip but an added incentive of a $1,000 slot voucher. I had been there recently but it was too good an offer to pass by.

We had our family Thanksgiving on Saturday (which consisted of me doing most of the cooking) since my daughter always spends Thanksgiving with her fiancée's family. I couldn't convince my son to join me on my trip so he watched our animals while I traveled to my favorite vacation spot.

I left Chicago at 12:00 and arrived amazingly early at 1:30 Vegas time. The limo driver met me at the airport and I got the pleasure of riding in the Bentley. I could never spend that much on a car but I sure love riding in one.

I checked in quickly and received a Parlor Suite which I have been lucky to get on my recent trips. Here are some photos I took with my cell phone (I forgot to take any of the bathroom or the view.)The bathroom is very large with two sinks on each end of the rectangular room and also a makeup table next to one of the sinks. It has a glass enclosed shower, a jetted tub, enclosed toilet room and a walk in closet with a chest of drawers. I could live in this room easily if I had an unlimited supply of gambling funds!

One of my coworkers went to Vegas last minute too as he got a great fare out of Milwaukee $89 each way! Along with a nice offer from NYNY with free play, he jumped at the chance to go. It was a solo trip for him too. He arrived on Tuesday and left on Friday evening.

After I got settled in my room, I called my friend and asked if he would want to join me to play at the Wynn. He was at Planet Hollywood and had been losing at NYNY so he was ready for a change. He had never been to the Wynn so I was excited to show him around. I got my ticket voucher for the offer and played five- play $1 video poker while waiting for my friend. I won 4 queens but played too long and lost half of my $1000. Luckily, my friend appeared to save me from gambling more of it away. I first showed him my room during the daytime so he could view the golf course in the daylight. He loved my room too.

Before we started to gamble I took him on a tour of the Wynn and the Encore. I took him outside to walk to the Encore so he could see how beautiful the pathway from the Wynn to Encore is on the outside. Much to my surprise they have torn up the front of the Encore and are building a beach club with pools. What! I cannot envision what it will look like. I do know that Steve Wynn usually makes things beautiful but the entrance to the Encore WAS beautiful and is under a year old. Apparently, no traffic was coming through that entrance. It was a dead spot and the employees who worked there were not getting any clients and they depend on tips. I still cannot imagine a beach club in the front of the beautiful Encore.

Since we couldn't enter there, we had to walk to past the demolition area to the back where the VIP and regular guest checkin's are. We started our gambling at one of the video poker bars overlooking the pool area. I played $1 video poker and within a few minutes of starting hit 4 Aces for $800. Nice way to replenish my free money. I wanted to conserve my win so I played another Triple Sevens game on that machine and won a bonus of 1000 credits at the quarter level. I forgot to take a photo of my Aces. My friend wasn't as lucky so we stopped and continue our walk back to the Wynn via the Esplanade.

He likes to play Let It Ride which I have tried before without success. We played for around three hours. I started with $300 and left with $2300. I didn't think I would write a report so don't have notes but I know I won some three of a kinds and a full house betting $25 on all the spots so that's how I won money . I hadn't eaten much so I invited my friend to join me at The Buffet for Thanksgiving Dinner. He had never eaten there so he was happy to try it. The line at 7:00 was unbelievably long. It extended out the entrance down the hallway past The Café for as far as we could see. There is no way I would have stood in that line for several hours for my dinner. Fortunately, I have the privilege of going in the VIP line so we only had to wait about ten minutes. I like The Buffet but I still think the Bellagio buffet is better with regard to food selection. At least it was when I used to stay there. It could have changed in the past year and a half with all the financial struggles of MGM.

We had an enjoyable dinner and then I took my friend to see my room in the evening because it is beautiful with the night sky and lights of the buildings. We talked for quite awhile as we normally don't have a chance to do that at work. It was very enjoyable. Around 10:00 we decided to hit the casino again to see if we could continue our winning streak. My friend had been down for the trip until our session of Let It Ride where he won back his losses. He was pretty pumped about that.

He was willing to try Crazy Four Poker which we played for a couple of hours not winning a lot but holding our own. He returned to NYNY and I think I played a few slots before going to bed. I hadn't touched the money I brought. I won back the $1000 and more because of Let It Ride so I was up for the trip by $345 by the time I went to bed at 2:30 a.m.

The next morning I played Crazy Four Poker , my favorite table game, and didn't do that well. I didn't take notes so I don't remember specifics. After that session, I took $200 to play $5 video poker. I had a few good hits and was up a small bit when this happened:

I was dealt four to the Royal Flush and on the draw was given the Jack! I have won one other $5 Royal Flush on Memorial Weekend three years ago and it was with clubs too. That time I held the Queen and got the other four cards on the draw. Needless to say I was pretty happy about this. I took most of the money in a check with some cash to play with if I needed it since I was there for two more days.

I sent a text message with the picture to my friend and called my son. I stared at the screen for a period of time as they do not make you play off the win at the Wynn properties. They even told me I could take a picture of my win. This is very different from my win in Indiana where they actually had me play off the win which is $25 a spin! Also they do not allow photos of wins but I sneaked them in anyway.

After that I played my extra money in the machine and was up to $400 but got greedy and lost it. That's when I decided to go to the mall for a break. I had forgotten it was Black Friday so it was extremely crowded. I walked around looking for a new pair of shoes to replace my FAVORITE clogs which recently split in the sole. I am very attached to them so I am very disappointed. I bought a pair of shoes but returned them before I left Vegas as after walking in them in my room decided I didn't like them.

When I returned I got a call from Socalgirl as we had discussed meeting while I was there. She came over for the evening and had a lot of fun talking and playing slots and crazy four. We were up and down with no great wins for the night. After she left, I think I played a few slots and then went to bed around 3:30 a.m. We were meeting again on Saturday to gamble and see the show Human Nature.

The next day in the morning I played Crazy Four and won a bit but played it back! I really wanted to conserve my money so I walked to the mall to return my shoes and to enjoy the sunshine since we often lack it here in Chicago. The late hours were catching up with me so I called at the last minute to get a massage. I was lucky as they were able to schedule me with my regular therapist even though the spa was really busy. After the custom massage, I felt like new person and ready for the evening events.

Socalgirl met me at my room as she was giving me a lesson on how to scrunch my hair, LOL. I have changed my hairstyle from always blow drying it to the curly girl hair style. I am still learning how to do it and she has been doing it for several years. I am sure this is not too exciting for most of you but it is what we did before going to the performance Saturday evening at the Imperial Palace Showroom. She drove us which was nice not to walk in the cool evening weather which had turned a bit rainy.

We had time before the show to play some slots at Imperial Palace and I earned 20 cents for my efforts. I played with $100. I was losing until I tried a penny slot that Socalgirl has had luck with (wish I could remember the name, drats!). Anyway I hit a bonus round and won back all my money plus 20 cents.

I had gotten tickets for us on the Goldstar site. There were VIP seats for half price. However, they were not in a great location. We were on the main floor at the farthest table to the right. Because of the way they perform we were able to enjoy the show bu t I was disappointed. If you use their site, be sure to call the box office and ask about the location of your seats before purchasing them. I am normally very good at selecting seating even when it is discounted but not this time. However, I digress. The show was fantastic. These guys are very talented. We both loved all the Motown music. I highly recommend seeing their show.

After that we went to dinner at the SW Steakhouse at the Wynn. The food was very good but I had waited too late in the day to get seated where you could see the water show at night. I had eaten there before in the warmer weather when the patio was open and we were seated with a great view of the show while we were dining. It is a lovely experience .

At the end of dinner, we went to Encore to gamble. Tried Crazy Four without success. Then we played various slots mostly penny video slots. Socalgirl was winning and I lost at every machine. I left her to find a Megabucks but was attracted to another Video Poker Bar where there are the huge red sparkly roses on the wall. I was playing DDB $1 video poker when I won this:

Now I was back to even again! Socalgirl wasn't having as much luck at this point so we went back to the Wynn to play Crazy Four Poker. We had a fun table except for the working girl and her "boyfriend" who were winning every hand betting large amounts of money while the rest of us were lucky to get a hand. We finally tired of seeing them win and left. Socalgirl returned home and as I was walking her to VIP valet through the VIP entrance/exit this is what we saw:

It was around 2:30 and I was leaving in the morning. I should have gone bed but instead I played $5 Triple Diamond for a really long time. I started with $100 lost it, put in a ticket voucher for $260 and got it up to $1580. I was sure I was going to hit something big. But alas I foolishy lost it back. I still had most of the money from my jackpot so I decided to try $25 Triple Diamond slot before going to bed. Have had some good wins in the past trying this. I hit the single bars for $750 and thought it might be in a cycle. However, I lost it. I should have gone to bed but I decided to give one more try on the $25 Top Dollar Machine next to it. I hit the top dollar symbol fairly quickly and on the third offer won $2125 for my second WG2 for the trip. I played it a bit more and won another top dollar round of $750. After that I decided I should quit while I was ahead. I forgot to take pictures, too tired.

I went to bed around 3:30 after packing since I was leaving at 1:15 the next day. In the morning, I got up at 9:00, had a muffin and tea from the VIP lounge for breakfast. I played Crazy Four Poker with a dealer I really like but was not winning. It was up and down but then down so I stopped around 12:00 to go eat lunch since the airlines doesn't feed you anymore. I had a nice brunch at The Buffet. Checked out, got my boarding pass from the concierge and said fair well to the Wynn:(

I was delighted to get the Bentley back to the airport with a driver who is originally from Chicago. A really great guy and we always have good conversation traveling to and from the Wynn. I am happy to report I returned with $19,000 of my jackpot. I played enough of my own money and some of the other wins to satisfy my host (I hope) and still had a winning trip. I have been very blessed this year with nice jackpots and enjoyable times with friends in Vegas. It is a wonderful combination!

My flight home was uneventful. Returned home to cold and wet weather so I missed Las Vegas immediately. Looking forward to my next trip already!

PS Spell checked this but usually manage to miss something, so I apologize for any errors. Also, I finally got a digital camera but forgot to keep it with me. My pictures are with my cell phone camera which are not as good a quality.

That horse shoe is firmly implanted, you lucky girl! Nice report, beautiful photos and GREAT wins!!!! I'm trying to remember - does Wynn have a high limit slot area? I've only played $5 out on the floor and haven't been there in over a year...

First, in my title I meant that this is my first time to post a report on this board.

Thank you for all your generous remarks.

BGVegas- I am sending you good vibes for your trip. You are staying at my home casino. I LOVE the Wynn.

Mycatspot - Wynn has a beautiful high limit room. It also has the most $100 slot machines I have ever seen in any casino. Additionally, it also has a few $1000 slot machines and I believe one $5000 slot machine. For the last two trips one of the $1000 machines which is a Triple Diamond slot has had the same two triples and I believe a double bar on the screen. I checked the payout schedule and it was a win of $250,000 or maybe it was $500,000. That would be one exciting event to win that. I don't know why they haven't reset it. I only occasionally try $25 slots in the high limit room. I have had some decent luck a few times but I definitely only play a limited amount. It seems you either hit in a few spins or you could wipe out a bankroll quickly.

VegasDiva- yes, this trip was very rewarding, if only this would happen every trip I would retire to Vegas:banana:

BackInVegas - appreciate your congrats. I just looked at the title of Beeejay's thread. Wow, he is there for an extended time and moving around to many different properties. I hope he does well too. I will have to read about his adventure as I see he is posting live from Vegas.

Excellent trip report and pics! Loved that you kept most of your winnings and had a great time with the shows and gambling. Wynn / Encore is my favorite place to stay and I play poker almost exclusively at the Wynn. I stayed the first month of the Encore and those rooms are incredible, though your Tower Suite room was even better (and you can't beat the Bentley service). I should play more on their machines but I like to play at the bar and they charge for drinks, the only place in Vegas which does so. Sorry you had to return to our crappy Chicago winter.

Can you explain further what you mean by having to "play off the win" in Indiana? Are you required to play one or more hands after a hand pay? What is the rational behind this? Also, why are you not allowed to take pictures of your machine win in Indiana? Casino privacy? If it is just the machine, what is the difference. I have not played at the boats here for over a decade beyond a few poker sessions as I save my gambling escapades for Las Vegas.

    S,
It's good to see Wynn is still taking good care of you! I think it's great you hit ANOTHER big royal. Hard to believe it's been around 3 years since we met at the Bellagio.

There is nothing better than reading such an upbeat winning TR right before a trip. Thanks for posting!

    Thanks Don D!

Viva Las Vegas- thanks for the kind remarks. You must live in lovely Chicagoland where the weather changes every two seconds:)

Yes, it is a stupid practice to charge for drinks at the video poker bars at the Wynn. If you have comps though, you can just charge it to your room. As you probably noticed in my report, I don't drink so it is not an issue with me. Of course, they would charge me for water or coke too which is just stupid in my book.

I wrote a report on another board (lasvegas4ever) about my trip to Indiana last summer when I discovered the Indiana Live Casino which is about 30 minutes south of Indianapolis. My 87 year-old dad became seriously ill suddenly in early August. While I was there with him and had nothing to do in the evenings after staying with him at the hospital all day except go back to my hotel room to be by myself, I learned about this new casino. I wrote a very long story about it because only people who love Vegas would understand why I would go there when I was there for my ill father who then died within four days of my arrival. I won't bore you with all the details but the day after my father died while I was handling all the details of the funeral and waiting for my kids to arrive in Indy, I went to the casino in the evening just to get away from thinking so much about what was happening. I had gone their a couple of times earlier in the week to get away from thinkning of his diagnosis and what he would be facing.

I had lost my bankroll for the night and thought I will never come here again so what the heck. I took some more ATM money and tried the high limit room. I was playing $5 DDB video poker with $300 in the machine when I started winning hands. About five minutes later, the machine froze and I saw a beautiful 4 Aces with a 2. I couldn't believe it. I said thank you Dad because it was a very welcome payout for all the expenses of staying at hotels for two weeks, one week by myself and another week with my kids which required another room. I truly felt it was my Dad helping me because he never wanted to be a bother and was very independent. But to your point, in this casino they do not allow player's to take photos which I didn't realize that night because I had left my cell phone in the car to charge. They will take it for you. Here is the picture they took that day but the person taking it didn't set the date correctly. It was actually August 9, 2009:

I was very tired at this point and forgot to ask for a check so they brought me $9,660.00 in cash! I kept it in an envelope in the bottom of my purse for the entire week as there was no lock box in my room and my bank did not have any locations in Indianapolis.

That night one of my daughter's arrived from DC so we the next day we went to the casino to kill time while waiting for my other daughter and son to arrive from Chicago. After I did what I needed to do that day for my Dad's services, we went there for lunch since I now had comps for food. She loves video poker too. I managed to keep my money because even though I gave her some to play with, this is what happened before we left:

The next four days were preparing for my Dad's funeral, the funeral and the sad business of going to his house with my brother do what we needed to do before returning to Chicago. On Sunday the day we were leaving, my oldest daughter and my son, went to the end of a big convention for gamers which was in Indianapolis nearby our hotel. It is held there every year recently and is called GenCon. Since they were occupied and I was left to drive separately to return to Chicago, I decided to take advantage of my food comps at the casino, and kill some time so I wouldn't get home alone before my kids arrived. I was being very conservative and played in their penny arcade area where you would randomly win bonuses while playing. I found a fun dolphin one cent machine that was giving me bonuses like crazy. Of course, like a true gambler I thought it would continue and I played back my winnings.

Then I decided to give the high limit video poker machine one last try since I knew I would not be returning. I decided to play the same machine. I put $300 in it and I started winning hands. Then it froze after about five minutes like the week before and this is what I got:

I couldn't believe it, one week to the day, I got the same hand on the same machine. This time I asked for a check. While waiting for the check, I played with the money I still had in the machine and when they returned with my check this is what had happened:

This time I was ready to leave so I just took the cash so I wouldn't have to wait and be tempted to play more. How lucky can one person be in one week gambling. I told the slot attendant about how I felt it was my Dad's influence and she actually understood. She just returned from Arizona to take care of her elderly parents. As I said in my report of this experience, I think only people on these boards would understand why I would go to the casino during this sad time.

Sorry, this became an almost retelling of the whole event when you just asked a simple question. The first week, they actually made me play off the 4 Aces. I was too tired to think about it or else I would have said give me $25 dollars and I will! The second week I decided to play more on my own. I don't really remember if Illinois casinos ask you to play off a win. When it is a high limit slot, I think they should just reset the machine. The player shouldn't have to lose money to erase the win.

Hope this wasn't too much of an answer for you:rolleyes2:

Thanks, R, hope you, Lynne and your son have a great trip next week.

I posted replies to Don D and Viva Las Vegas but hit the wrong button so now it is being reviewed as a report :confused2: I hope it shows up as it got very involved and I don't want to have to remember all of it again!

Thanks for the trip report. Going to be staying at The Wynn in a couple of weeks. Am also a fan of Crazy Four Poker. Do you know what the minimums were for that game most of the time ? Also, did you ever have trouble finding a seat ? I know most places might only have 1 table and can be tough sometimes to find a seat.

    Thanks again.

Mike, the Wynn and the Encore each only have one table. Yes, sometimes it is difficult to find a spot becuase the tables are full. I am hoping they will open a second table but even though it is so popular they haven't done it. The table limits can be as low as $10. Normally they are either $15 or $25but one night during my Thanksgiving trip the table minimum was upped to $100 for some crazy group of guys. I think they were trying to keep other people of the table and since they were betting big it was allowed. I am going to New Year's Eve so it will be interesting to see how busy it is then.

    Good luck on your trip!
