    My Trip Report

This is a long post with Pics so sit back , grab a coffee and hope you all enjoy!
Bit of a Back Story ~~ I had been to Vegas June 30-July 4th with a g/f to celebrate our 50th bdays , this had been my 5th trip in 4 yrs...... when I got home and started reading more TR's and other tidbits here on VMB (I had just found and joined this board in April this year) , made me all wistful to go again ...... I'd never taken 2 trips in one yr before , check out my AirMiles pts , got an offer from Mbay for 2 free nights , with an upgrade to suite if booking for Nov/Dec , and had several choices under HET ~~ figgured out we could do this, however hubby didn't have a valid passport as his expired 2 yrs ago~~ we hadn't been on a trip via airplane together in almost 7 yrs!! was long over due So one Monday in August about a month or so after getting back from Vegas, got approval for time off for vacation (knew hubby would have no probs as he still had 2 weeks left) ~ I went ahead and called AirMiles booked our flight ~~ Leave Calgary via WestJet , direct to Las Vegas on Saturday Nov 14 @ 815am arrive in Vegas at 956am (vegas is one hr behind Calgary time) , leave Thurs Nov 19 at 7pm and arrive in Calgary at about 1045 that evening ~~ about 2.5 hrs in *the air time* and maybe 5-10 mins to taxi in/out and takeoff/land , so not a bad flight time at all!! Total cost was $185.00 per person (taxes and a Service fee) for the flights and I had 5 nights hotel all comp'd ~ Nov 14/15 @ Mbay, Nov16/17/18 at Paris ~ yay, more $$ to gamble with :evillaugh ~~ also, two of my g/fs (J and S) were flying down on the same flight as us, I first went to Vegas with them in 2005, again in 2007 and 2008 ~ they were staying for 7 nights ~ 2 at Bally's, 2 at Paris, then 3 at the Hotel at MBay , hopefully NOT in a broom closet

Day 1~ Saturday Nov 14~ our flight leaves at 815am via WestJet, I like this airline, they are on time and smaller planes ~ a 737-700, nice leather seats, that recline, and TVs in the back of the seat ahead of you~ I bought a set of earphones (for 3.00) on my first trip and have used them ever since, just keep them in the suitcase....
http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Westjet/Westjet_Boeing_737-700.php We also went thru the duty free shop to pick up ciggys and a bottle of Crown Royal for hubby , also known as A
I had booked our boarding passes the previous morning as we can do that within 24 hrs of the flight ~~ I chose Row 2 , seats D and E ~ The hubby, isn't to keen on flying so I made sure he got an aisle seat and close to the front of plane... I got the middle and as it turned out, the window was empty , so I moved over after take off.... made it nice and roomy for us both! The flight went smooth , but crappy TV programs at 8am on a Saturday morning , got to watch some old Bugs Bunny/RoadRunner toons tho  landed around 955am , then off to the baggage claim area, A's eyes were a bit buggy , altho I had told him there were slot machines all over the airport hehe , he went for a smoke while I waited for the luggage, he was back before the luggage lol , then off to the taxi line , where only a few mins wait...The warm weather felt nice!! ...J and S were off to Bally's and we were to meet them about 6pm at Raffles that night...... cab ride went fast , straight down Tropicana, and was $18 with tip ~ got to the desk and only waited perhaps 10 mins, ~ got room 25-233 , with a great strip view , looking straight down the strip! At time of booking the room , with my email offer of a suite upgrade, I realized this was just a regular room with a lovely strip view, not the 750 suite as promised......must ask why ! Love the bathroom, had double sinks, and a TV , a nice soaker tub , nice standup shower with lovely showerhead and a toilet in its own lil room , with a telephone!! hmmm is that to call housekeeping and ask for more TP?? :evillaugh We unpacked a bit of stuff, freshened up , A had a drink of his crown royal , sure why not at 11 am lol its Vegas baby~~ :evillaugh , we hit the Casino for about 90 mins and Iwas up $40.00 , A was down $100 , off to Raffles for lunch as was close to 2pm and needed food!! A had a clubhouse , it was huge , I shared one of the sections, and also had the baked potato soup , that was very very yummy and tasty , A had a beer also, and total bill was $32.00 including tip , we billed to the room hoping to have some charges removed at checkout~ off to explore the hotel a bit , then head to Tram to Excalibur and Luxor... played our way to the TRAM hehe ~ got the TRAM to Excalibur , played a bit there, then walked thru , to Luxor, looked around there too, and played ~ I found one of my fav penny slots, the Big Cheese Mouse Caper (or something like that lol) got some bonus rounds... got back to Mbay and we were both us $200.00 in total yay! A plays the slots too , we dont' do the table games .... he found a few he liked, like the Goldfish, Money to Burn, and another called ReelEmIn , with 4 ppl to play , sorta like those Monopoly or eBay games ....met up with J and S , they went to eat, we were still full from a late lunch, then I went with the two of them , up to MIX in the Hotel , holy schmoly whatta view!! and the bathrooms are crazy too, facing open glass windows , but then who's gonna be a Peeping Tom at that height rofl ..... J and S heading back to Bally's and A and I played a bit more, different slots, tried Dean Martins Wild Party but he wouldn't sing to me at all!! had one 120.00 on him in June lol , went for a late supper at raffles ~ I had the beef dip and A had steak sandwich , and a couple beers ~ was about $62.00 with tip .. again billed to room ~ back up to the room at 1130 (was 1230 our time and we'd been up since 430am )
had a wonderful sleep , the king bed was just the right softness or firmness, and very comfy , no noise from other rooms or in the hall.....realized i forgot to ask about the suite lol but was too tired .........

    More Pics~~ Mix Bathroom

The *cubicle* was pie shaped and you walk in and toilet in middle of room , facing the window so you can sit down n ummmmm do your business, whilst taking in the south view of the strip!! was kinda freaky ..... all I could think of was James Cagney in White Heat, blurting, I'm at the top of the world , Ma!! We couldn't go out the balcony in the main bar, as a private function was being held there, lovely restaurant area too .... never did go up to the Foundation Rm tho ...

    Day 2 ~ Sunday Nov 15/Day 3 ~ Monday Nov 16

Day2~Slept in until 9am, got showered, n dressed and out the door by 10am..down to the Casino for some Baileys Coffee......played more slots, now down about $150.00 and from here its downhill all the way l , then off to Shark Reef, enjoyed that , I had seen in back in 2006 with our daughter(whom I took to Vegas for her 21st bday) A really liked it too ...... back over to the TRAM to Excalibur, then to NY NY , A grabbed a beer on the concourse over to NY NY , he was in awe of being able to drink on the strip while outside!!
over to MGM and had lunch at the Rainforst Cafe, I had a coupon for free appetizer, we chose the mozza sticks, I had the BarBQ wrap and A had the Bar B Q burger, both very tasty ....... I'd been there a couple times before but he'd never been at one, and enjoyed the animal sounds/and animations and the fish aquariums ..... headed out and saw the Lion exhibit , but those silly Lions were doing what Lions do best, Sleeping!! , then over to M & M store , picked up a few things, then back to MGM /NYNY and played for about 3 hrs, grabbed a Haagan Daas icecream cone, had a 2 for 1 coupon I got via a link from this board (thank you thankyou) , back to the room for a bit to refresh , went back down to Casino, and Luxor and Excalibur too, to play more slots, now down about 300.00 over all , this includes any wins /losses ....... A had also signed up for Players Club, so will be interesting to see what , if any offers he gets! back to the room and in Bed by 1am ........ again I got so busy I didn't inquire about the room lol or was too lazy to as we were comfy where we were .......also, if ever staying in a Mbay room be mindful of the *bar* its very sensitive ~ lucky for us we never bumped it and got charged

Day3~ up by 830, showered and decided to just check out and head over to Paris, and eat there , leave bags at Bell desk if need be...... went to the Players Club desk ........we had over 90.00 in points but could NOT use toward meals??? said comp's were based on previous play, I said I had 36.00 when we got here, could I use? never did get a clear answer!! :grrr:
Went to desk to check out, tried to use the card there, but no avail..ended up paying about 95.00 for the two meals , charged to the room sheesh!! in Oct 2008, I was checking out of Harrahs after 5 nites, and we got a lot deducted off the room then by swiping the TR card thru the machine, ~ oh the comp times, they are a changing!! Took Cab over to Paris , where we had another 3 comp'd nights, No wait at checkin and we were able to get a room right off!!~~ got Room 40-459~ had requested non smoking but clerk offered me both , and A grabbed smoking as hes a smoker and I quit back last spring , inquired about a strip view, but those rooms were $55.00 more per night .......didnt' try the $20.00 trick tho , altho told A about it , how I read from this board, but wasn't sure if I could pull it off lol ......
room was with 2 Q beds, a basic room but clean and even tho a smoking room, was clean smelling ~ had an big closet thingy with two doors, for hanging clothes, a safe, an ironboard and iron, with Old style TV in the middle aka NOT plasma lol and 3 drawers below...... a nice table n chairs and the bathroom was not fancy but i liked the walkin shower again~ unpacked a bit then down to Letoure, for a quick bite to eat, I had a ham n cheese in pastry , and we each had a coffee.... off to Casino to get A a TR card, then were meeting J and S again at 1230 at Mon Ami Gabi , as they were at Paris for 2 nights.... had a wonderful seat on the patio, facing towards the new Aria/Vdara/city Centre complex , wow has it ever grown , will be nice to stroll thru it, ~ A had the steak sandwich, said one of the bestest ever he's had ........I had the seafood crepes, yummy shrimp and scallops with a nice white sauce with peas , S had the same as I,and the soup of day, cauliflower/cheese, did say was a bit bland , and J had the seared salmon with potatoes ...... All of us enjoyed it, also saw the fountains go off a couple times, A really enjoyed that ...... was hard to tell was song tho from across the street over the noise of the ppl and traffic ....but did figure ione out to be Hey Big Spender, . back into the Casino for a couple hours and I lost A!! I had gone to the restroom and couldn't find him lol but found J and S and hung with them ....back to the room to refresh and ended up having a 2 hr nap lol , the old legs were tired from all the walking went over to the Bellagio, and saw the fountains, at night, was beautiful, heard David Fosters.... Winter Games. . Work: Composed for Winter Olympics. Year: 1987. Length 3:00 ~~ which was cool because those games were held in 1988 , here in Calgary , strolled thru the Bellagio, over to the Conservatory , pointing out the glass thingy's in the lobby and along the way , and also saw the chocolate fountains at the Jean-Philippe Maury Chocolate shop , right around the corner......back into the Casino for some games, I hit a couple bigger wins like 70.00 or so , then over to CP and I showed him the lobby/statue of David/Cleopatras Barge and other assorted architectural designs, the forum shops were closed so couldn't stroll thru there, played a bit at the casino , back down again lol
strolled back over to the Paris, via the walk way, that is beside Bills, then over to Ballys and cut thru it.... love that people mover there!!
back to room by about 130am

    Some Pics of the Room
we wanted a King but only Q available at checkin , no worries, bathroom was nice , last pic is of a Mini-Bellagio and the fountains , displayed in the Conservatory

I hit big on Hot hot penny , and cashed out with about 160.00 up!! yay, ..... back over to Paris , at 4 to meet with J and S , we were all seeing Jersey Boys at 930 (i booked us all tickets together ) and was going to do the Peppermill but A and I were still so full ! wandered thru all the hotels on the way, just to show A as we hadn't been north of Bills as yet ~
Got to the Venetian /Palazzo and those two ate at GrandLux and really liked it .... A and I signed up for Grazie, I had signed up online already and got 15.00 free play , so off to the machines once we got the cards.... found a few games we liked and met up at the JB theatre with the others at 9, stopped for a drink at the theatre bar, A got a budweiser and I got a pina colada, that was 19.00 ~ eep lol , then off to the Show ........I recommend it for everyone!! A wasn't all too keen on a *show* as hes not into musicals but he was hooked in the first 5 mins, maybe because hes Italian and knows the *language* especially that authentic New Jersey language hehe , liberal use of the F-bomb !! We split up and A and I went to Venetian, as I had a voucher I could use at either Palazzo or Venetian ~~ played for a bit then back to Paris ~~ A really liked the decor and designs of the Venetian, showed him that 3-D walkway to the lobby , and other things , he loved the people movers once again!! back to the room by 230am

Day 5 J called me at 930, I met up with them as they were checking out and heading to Mbay for their last 3 nights...... we had a nice coffee and promised to meet up here in Calgary b4 Christmas for brunch.....we've been doing this for about 5 yrs :) meeting every other month or so to keep in touch......and plan Vegas trips :evillaugh I went back to room and A was up n ready.......played some slots, then got a 24 hr pass on the Duece...met a couple from BC and yapped with them, they hadn't ever been to Vegas before either , they got off at the Fashion Show Mall stop .. we were going to head downtown to FSE ....... stopped at the Peppermill and had some lunch...... A had a clubhouse and I had Swiss/Mushroom Burger.........very yummy .......then strolled over to the Riveria , told him several movies filmed here...... including Casino, and 3000miles to Graceland...showed A the Crazy Girls bronze *statues* and took a pic of him groping some bums hehe... called home to the kidlet , our house was still standing lol , then hopped the bus back to FSE......I was commenting on different things along the way to A , such as the pawn shops, loan shark shops, the No-Tell Motels, (yes I saw the TOD motor inn and thought of the Thread for that here hehe) and City hall where it used to be open 24 hrs for wedding licenses , the couple ahead of us turned around and said "Oh thats where we want to go!! I said "Are you getting married"? He said, " Yes, we only just met 36 hrs ago" oh my!!:confused2: They got off the bus and A turns to me and said you just helped them change the course of their lives heheh .............had an entertaining bus driver also made the trip more pleasant .... headed down one side of the FSE , went into many of the Casino's and saw The Golden Nuggets in the Golden Nugget, the Million Dollar pile in Binions, also I was up 70.00 on an Uncle Sam game! and had to quit when the Vista Vision canopy show started, It was Born to Be Wild, A really thought that was cool!! stopped in at Mermaids, and won a bit and didn't realize the machines weren't TITO, i should have clued in when I saw buckets sitting beside the machines DUH:rolleyes2: I broke the bank, ran outta nickles and had to call attendant to fill up the hopper, UGH my hands were black after that lol ~ stopped at WalGreens and picked up some munchies for later ..... pointed out to A all the old neon signs, along the way too, he thought they were very cool , also.......back to the hotel by 730pm , I grabbed airline info and headed to internet kiosk by elevators and got the boarding passes...... was in row 5, seats D and E ...back to room , got Al and then we .played in the Casino again ........ he really likes that REEL Power fishing game..... I headed to Ballys while he played that in Paris, I was up 50.00 when I met up with him an hour later !! the HexBreaker game was sweet to me!! ~ decided if we are gonna spend money, might as well get something out of it and headed to the duelling Piano bar called Napoleans.........the two fellas were very fun and kept the room rocking, many requests were to be had, and played and I even requested one, for us....... I met A 29 yrs ago this week and requested Climax Blues Band, I Love You and yes they played it :) Drinks were expensive but we had fun :) ~~ back to room by 12 midnight, and last night in the comfy bed ! Check out in the AM sigh

Day 6 and back home today *sulk*

woke up about 10am , showered and went to check out....... paid up the room charges and didn't have many TR credits left to use lol , left bags with Bellman, then headed down the strip to Harrahs...... went to the Flavours Buffet, had a 2 for 1 mailer offer.... altho I stayed at Harrahs last year with S, we never ate at the buffett.........was very very tasty , I had a nice sampling of everything ....... loved the "southern food area" , fried chicken, collard greens, corn bread stuffing mmmmmmmm don't get that up here so was a nice change!! price was reasonable too ...... Then we played the Casino a bit, then over to the IP , took in the Car display, as again used a free admit for two coupon ..... very nice vintage cars there, I'd never been !! nice way to kill off an hour or so b4 the airport..... then played a bit at IP , A got a 215.00 hit on the Money to Burn game......saw some of the dealertainers, then over to Flamingo and strolled thru the Habitat area, pool area, and Bugsy memorial ~ A enjoyed that ~~ I had stayed at Flamingo in 2007 and again this past July ..... then alas it was time to head back to the hotel and get the luggage......... grabbed a bottle of water on way, and drank most of it in cab, and stuck it in my carry on!! DUH it got spotted going thru security........ checkin and security were a breeze....other than my water ......... we stopped at Burger King , then headed to gate B15 for our 7pm flight, first stopping at the duty free to get more Crown Royal and ciggys ........ flight home was nice, A watched Chicago BlackHawks snuff out the Calgary Flames and I switched channels, the window seat was taken this time so couldn't spread out .........my leg fell asleep lol ....landed at 1045... got thru Customs OK and got a cab, no problem was home by 1130~~ chatted with the kidlet for abit and off to bed ....slept in until like 10am lol

Reflections~ For his first Visit, A really had a nice time......he loved the Fountains, the JBoys show and FSE ....... never did get to Mirage to show him the dolphin/tigers......or the volcano, or to TI for Sirens show, or wander thru both hotels and play .......... we packed in a lot in 5 nights and never overdid it...... came home with 50.00 US btween it and will tuck it away for the next Vegas trip :) I'm *betting* he'll be back!

Loved the weather!! was in high 60's for most of week and just sweater weather in the evenings, its funny to watch the locals bundle up lol I'd love to be a snow bird when I grow up !!

 bye for now, and hope you enjoyed , its my 2nd TR , and I get to rambling and blathering on heh

Good report! Your Standard room looked a lot nicer than our "deluxe" room at The Hotel, we didn't even have a TV in the Bathroom!

MGM has a different way of comping, that's for sure, not being able to use the points you earned this trip on this trip.

I wonder if the marriage will last the full 36 hours of courtship?

Great trip report! With MGM-Mirage points you use them for point play so you could gamble the $90 you have. And the points do not expire for 18 months.

    Nice report

How you all sleep until 9 and 10 AM is beyond me. My body clock has me up by 5:30 Vegas time all of the time. No matter the amount of alcohol in my system.

    Glad he enjoyed drinking outside.

Yes, VIP services are being cut back at all properties I believe. No idea on the WHALE VIP services though, those might still be going strong.

Thanks for posting. Seems as though you had a great time showing Vegas to your husband.

Yes, we had a marvelous time

The only thing I didn't really do, like I do with the trips with the gal pals, is shop,,,,,, didn't hit the Forum Shops , but did walk about the Miracle Mile

Heck he won't shop with me in Calgary, why shop with me in Vegas lol

tis OK , we did lots and saw lots :) took me 5 previous trips to condense our 5 nights into the most must -do and see things
