    My Trip Report

My wife's birthday was fast approaching and I wanted to do something special for her. Our son and daughter in law had decided to fly her out to Colorado Springs to spend 9 days with them and our new grandson Gavin. She'd be flying out on the 18th of October and returning on the 27th. Right before the end of September I get a ding from SWA for 320 rt for the two of us leaving on the 30th of October (her BDay) and returning on the 1st of Nov. Now I have to see if I can get that Friday off. Once that's taken care of I go online to book the tickets; but, wait a minute SWA is now offering double trip awards if you complete your trip by the 31st. Well, I just need 4 more trips to earn a free one before the 15th of December. So, I book the flight; we leave SeaTac at 0620 on the 30th and arrive in Vegas at 0850. We then fly back to Seattle at 1325 on the 31st. I then decide to do the early bird check in for an extra 40. I think I can convience my wife to do carry on luggage so we can get seats closer to the front of the plane. I book Presidential Limo to do the pick up and drop off; and, Capitol Airporter to do the home to airport transport. Well, my wife finally returns from Colorado Springs and sees her presents and asks what are these (as if she didn't know). I told her they were her presents and she should probably open then now because she wouldn't be able to on her birthday. She looked at me and then I told her we were flying to Vegas on her BDay to celebrate and we would be flying back home the next day. She was stunned; and then I asked her if she could get by with just a carry on that would fit under the seat. She said she thought she could.

    Leaving/Arriving

We got A18 abd 19 boarding passes so we sat in the second row aile and middle seat from the front of the plane. Our flight arrived about 15 minutes early; everything was looking up. Ted, our driver, was waiting for us at SWA baggage and said that as soon as our luggage arrived we would leave. Um, not so fast Ted, this is our luggage we can leave now. "Wow, you travel light"; yeah, well, we're here for just 27 hours why waste any time waiting for luggage. We get to the limo and have a couple of pictures taken and then were off. Ted asks if we'd like the scenic route so we can relax enjoy and drink the sparkling wine. Sure. We arrive a Bally's at about 0915 after almost finishing off the whole bottle. We get into line the check in but it's long and really not moving; so, I look at my wife and say lets go gamble we can come back later and check in. So off to donate money to the slot gods.

    Checking in

I finally make it back to check in around 1030; now, I've had several beers in me and I've got one with me just in case the wait is more than 15 minutes. It's not. I get to the counter and give the lady my cc, and players card. She looks my name up and says we have you comped for one night but I don't know if I have anything available right now. I tell her alright that I know check in isn't until 1600 and I tell her that we're just here to celebrate my wife's bday. She says that she might have something for me and asks if I want a king or two queens and I said it doesn't matter whatever you have available will be fine. She gives me the room card it's 7303 and for some reason I think it's in the North Tower. I get my wife and off we go. I tell her the room number and she says she thinks that's the South Tower; well, I tell her that I thought the lady pointed toward the North Tower elevators so that's where we're headed. Up to the seventh floor and to room 303; but, the key doesn't work. My wife says call and ask where the room is. I call on the house phone and tell them I'm lost and can't find my room. I give them the room number and the girl laughs and says "son, you're in the North Tower and need to be in the South Tower." She gives me instructions and I tell my wife she was right and I obviously have had maybe one beer too many. We get to our room and it's not delux room like we thought but more like a mini suite with a wet bar and refrigerator and a complete view of the Eiffel Tower and partial view of the Bellagio fountains. Very nice.

    Gambling

The gambling gods did not smile on us at all this trip we lost at every slot machine we played in every casino we played in. But; for the most part we did get alot of play for our money.

    Food

Nothing special we ate at BK, Le Burger and Nosh.

    Drink Service

As we all know drink service is spotty. We were tipping 5 so as long as we stayed in a cw's zone we always had a buzz going. Saturday morning we were gambling at Paris on the Goldfish game and we tipped the cw 5 and she asked if we wanted change we said no and she told us if the drinks were'nt strong enough to let her know. She
back to see if we wanted another round I asked her if the drinks could be a little bit stronger and she said she'd bring us doubles in tall glasses because we tipped so well.

    Things seen and overheard.

I know this was Halloween weekend and there seemed to be more drunken costumed people out there then I remember from 3 years ago. One gentleman was dressed up as a woman propositioning all the guys that went by.

The police were out in force on the strip. When we were crossing from Bill's to Bally's we saw 11 cops crossing from Bally's to Bill's. We also saw either motorcycle or patrol vehicles at Paris, Flamingo, and patrolling up and down the strip.

I was walking past the porn slappers at Bally's talking on my cell phone when one of them tried to get my attention. I shook my head no but that didn't deter her. She pointed to my shirt pocket and said money. I looked and my money was falling out of my pocket. Honesty and integrity is still alive and comes from people you wouldn't think about.

    Final thoughts

Every time I looked at my wife she was smilling; and, that, as the commercial says is priceless. I would definetely do this again if the circumstances were right. Because it was Halloween we received a free alcoholic beverage (Like I needed any more) on our flight home. Now, we're just 48 days away from our Christmas in Vegas adventure.
