If you play video poker, watch out for the "max play" button. Most of the machines are set to 10 coins for the max.

I live 45 minutes away from Mohegan Sun. They seem to now always have $5 craps tables(which is a good thing).
If you get a channce try the BBQ place upstairs. Good portions and decent prices.

Stop by the live poker room and look for me. Say hello if you see me. I expect to be there Friday or Saturday or Sunday or all three.

It looks like a pretty cool complex and I would love to stay and play at the MS but at an average of about $300/night. I doubt we'll ever see the place...:rolleyes2:

Right. But during the week there are some local hotels that are not bad. There is a microhotel just about a mile away with a 24 shuttle to the MS that with a traveler's coupon can be had for $53.

Of course, you have to get this deal on the way and can't get a firm reservation ahead of time.

but hey, where there is a will.........

I solved that problem as well as the Saturday inflated cost by sleeping in my van this past weekend.
    Check the TR here:

Oh, I also saw your daughter Deanna Martin singing your old songs in the great show:
That's Italian. It included never before seen photo from her home album. She has a great voice. They were all great.

Dewy...I had never even heard of her or her shows....looks like it could be a fun evening and she's a lot better looking than me!:poke::evillaugh

    Thanks for the info:thumbsup:

PS - not sure my wife would go for sleeping in the car outside the MS...lol

I stayed in Mohegan Sun once which was nice. Sunday -thursday nights are cheaper BUT about 2 min. away from Mohegan Sun is the Microtel Inn or Best Western, both are a very short drive or free shuttle bus away and much much cheaper. Thats where i stay when i go visit. Actually going to Mohegan Sun in February and booked the Microtel Inn for $74 a night.

We're probably going to stay here one night in June, but geez are their prices high! They have some decent (not Vegas good, but decent) specials on their website but you can't book them online. I called and they're not loaded into the system for June yet. I don't have a Player's card (and you can't sign up online:rolleyes2:) so the best the clerk could do was the base rate ($249 right now, same as the website) Guess I'll wait until May and hope they have some promos still available! (the reservations clerk said they usually load the specials a month in advance)

There's a special with food credits attached - if we can get that promo, I'll probably want to do the tasting menu with wine pairing at Todd English's Tuscany.

I'm sure we'll gamble a little, but we have always hated the gambling when we've tried anywhere other than Vegas. But we want to stay there because it's on "the list"

There is a Best Western under a mile away where they have limo service back and forth to the casino at no extra charge. Rates are usually around $100. I have stayed there a couple times when the weekend rates were crazy.

If you are not looking for a bargain hotel BUT you want a great expereince, try the Norwhich Inn and Spa just a few miles up the road from Mohegan. In fact Norwhich Inn & Spa is owned by Foxwoods (at least it used to be) and before Mohegan Sun had their hotels they used to pay for their players to stay here as well as the other places around. But the Norwhich Inn and Spa is a great place, some regular hotel type rooms and some really neat condos in the back, two story townhome type of places. Their dining is excellent and the spa is world class. It is a country/resort type of setting. Just FYI for any of those that travel their and might not want to stay on the property and try something a little different.

Thanks - I'm aware of other (cheaper) hotels & motels nearby but we specifically want to stay at Mohegan Sun. We're only there one night (will be in CT for my high school reunion).

Sunni - would love to know if you hear of any specials! I'm on their Facebook page but I've never seen any room specials posted there.

If anyone has more dining reviews, please let me know!

I second that recommendation. I caught a $59 weekday rate by using those Traveler's coupons and I loved that Microhotel. I remember that the counter with microwave separated my wife and I and each bed had an overhead light that allowed late night reading.
One other thing to check at Mohegan or Foxwoods or Turning Stone is whether your booked room is actually at the casino of a shuttle ride away. Some of the casinos expand their rooms offsite. I can't remember what Mohegan does.
When that is the case, the Microhotel is the same experience.

the Sun only has the one hotel on site. If they are sold out they will refer you to the new Hyatt about a mile away. They don't try to sell it like it's on site.

You can usually get a better rate on Fridays and definately sign up for a players card. Whatever points you earn can be used towards the cost of the room when you check out.

You'll have a great time! Enjoy it.

Hoya, everything I've gotten so far is for slot tourneys , swipe your player's card..etc..nothing on room rates except suites for 50 or more people. Why I got that , I don't know...did you book a room ? Have fun !

I need to call - there are specials on the website but you cannot book them online - I called a couple weeks ago and the reservationist said they hadn't been loaded into the system for June yet:rolleyes2: She said they were done a month in advance so I'll try this week. Have a grant going in soon AND FedEx lost my matron of honor dress for my sister's wedding so I'm a little crazy this week:ssst:

Suites for 50 people, eh? Must have a party reputation in their computer system:wink2:
