    My Trip Report

Had a great flight direct from Manchester with 3 seats shared between my
wife and me, it's so good when you have a spare tray to hold all the
    miniature spirts bottles !
We were upgraded to a Grand room at The Hilton which had a nice large TV
fridge setee etc with a golf course view and was right next door to the
sceinic elevator which hardly anyone used. We had to wait an hour for the
room to be available so had coffee and very nice cake from the reception
cafe. After unpacking we went down to the pool for happy hour and enjoyed a
couple or three cocktails served by the most unfriendly and ineffecient
bartenders ever [if you were over 30 or male they really didn't want to
know] but we didn't let them spoil our day. Next we deceided not to travel
far so went for the buffet and were impressed with the quality and choice of
food available, the free wine and beer were very much appreciated! We then
headed for Quarks bar to have a few hands of video poker and after dinner
drinks. What a difference in attitude the barmen had compared to the jerks
in the pool bar, chatty and always there to top up your drinks.Had a fairly
early night and went to bed at 12.00 since in UK time it was 8.00am. The
next few days were spent wandering up and down the strip and travelling up
and down on the monorail which my wife loves although the onboard commentry
gets a bit repetetive after the 20th time of hearing it!
Ate at the Trevis in Ceasers Palace MMMM Pizza! very nice but I can't get
over how most eating places charge minimum of $40 for a bottle of house wine
which is mainly produced within 500 miles of Vegas. In The UK a bottle of
Calafornian wine can be had for less than $25 in most restaurants and its
had to be shipped 6000 miles! We used the Hilton Paradise cafe for a couple
of meals and were amazed at the size of the portions served, one night my
wife had turkey dinner and there was so much meat that when she had eaten
all she could her plate looked as if she hadn't started her meal.
We went downtown later in the week but I couldn't persuade my wife to go to
the El Cortez despite me quoting Cameron to her! Did manage to get her to
the MSS where within 10 minutes I had 2 4oaks, shortly after my wife hit
4oak just as I hit another. In all we had 5 4oak's within an hour and set
off for the Golden Nugget where I hit $150 on a fruit machine! Then on to
the Freemont where I found 6 video roulette machines. My Brother who is a
lucky SOAB had told me if I was to play roulette to bet on 20 and surround
it. First spin came up 23 second spin 20!
Changed machine first spin 25 second spin 20!. Left Freemont with a profit
of $300 and the nights total of $600. Got back to Hilton sent the wife to
bed and yes you guessed it I lost the lot! The Hilton wasn't very lucky for
me and Video poker was almost impossible to get 4oak.
Had a 4oak at O'sheas and The Greek Isles, Yes The Greek Isles it is still
    open although very quiet.
Headed off on Wed for our flight home only to be delayed 2 hours 'cause of
    rain!
Thought it never rained in summer in Vegas
All in all a great holiday and now my wife has become a Video Poker addict
    me may return next year.

Thanks for the TR! Quarks is still around after the Star Trek Experience closed down? Do they still have actors dressed up in Quarks as people from the series?

Only one choice direct from Manchester since BMI moved to london, shame as BMI were much better than TC.

Nice wins downtown; too bad the Hilton couldn't be so obliging to you. It's crazy the money some establishments charge for a cheap bottle of wine.

Thanks for posting and love hearing from you guys in the U.K. visiting Vegas. I spent 7 weeks studying in the U.K during law school, and it was among the most enjoyable times of my life.
