    My Trip Report

Stayed at the NYNY for 3 nights from June 26-June 29th. Room was nice but pretty small couldn’t get a strip view room our room was looking out at the roller coaster. I like the NYNY resort but it’s just too far down the strip for us.

They need to loosen up the machines a bit. It was terrible. I mixed it up and tried many variations of video poker and even some penny slots and dollar slots. Neither one of us won anything at any property of MGM. The Harrah’s properties were not much better but we at least has some small wins at some of the casinos.

It’s also worth noting that the main server at mgm corporate went down while we were there on Sunday and the machines wouldn’t print tickets and the redemption kiosks would not give cash out on tickets.(we had to wait an hour to get 5 dollars) A guy at the sports book told us that this has never happened before.

Total Rewards is an absolute joke. I was able to accumulate 3 dollars on my card while my brother got 2 dollars. While at NYNY he hit 1,000 points and we got a comped meal. I missed getting to the 1,000 point comp level by about 100 points or so.

A tip for people that don’t want to pay the unreasonable prices for soda at the snack places and food courts is to stop at the gift shop/seven eleven and grab some 2 cans of pop for 97 cents.

All in all I had a good time but probably would not stay at NYNY again since I want to me more middle of the strip. I don’t feel sorry for the Vegas casinos in this supposed rough time. They are making money and charging unreasonable prices for almost everything and the machines are so tight it’s ridiculous. Hopefully I will be able to go back in the next year or 2.

Thanks for the trip report and heads up on the slots. I've been hearing this alot, that everything, everywhere is pretty tight. Hearing about it has made me definitely arrange my plans for play. I don't ever play for big wins, but I play for fun and part of that fun is catching bonuses every now and then or playing a while off twenty bucks. If I can't get at least that much in return, I'll go to the outlet mall and maybe indulge in a spa treatment or something. Can't just give away my money and say I got something out of it :)

I'll be staying at NYNY for the first time.. I haven't heard too many positives about the place, but I got a cheap rate with some extras so I'll keep in mind that I'm getting what I pay for. Sorry to hear your trip was kind of a bummer...hopefully you can give it another shot soon.

I just stayed at NYNY and I liked it. I keep hearing other people talk about the small rooms and we had the biggest room I have ever stayed in Las Vegas. The bathroom is small compared to Planet Hollywood but it's fine. I really loved NYNY and we stayed in the New Yorker part if that's means anything. I'm sure it was one of the cheaper rooms because we paid next to nothing. We were on the 16th floor just right past the elevator. View was of the back looking out at the roller coaster, In n Out Burger, and the Monte Carlo. Never once heard the roller coaster from the room.

Only places I came out ahead gambling were Casino Royale and Bill's.

I like staying at NYNY. Most of the rooms are a bit smaller than some other places, but I don't mind the size at all. Overall, I think it's a nice hotel.

it is a nice hotel. The overall theme of the hotel is really neat and the rooms are nice but they are a little small. I prefer the hotels in the center of the strip however.

I must have had a bigger room than normal. My room was huge. Much bigger than Planet Hollywood.

Yes, if you like mid-strip, then NYNY isn't the place for you. I like south strip though and end up spending most of my time there. But, the rooms aren't the biggest.

When we stayed there for our wedding we ended up with the smaller room, strip view and yes the room was small but i like it. My father wanted non smoking and got a room on the 23rd floor, facing the mountains and his room was huge compared to ours. It all depends on what tower you get and what side you are on. We really liked NYNY and i would stay there again for the right price.

Our slot play has changed/progressed in recent years. We will put 20 in and if we don't hit anything we'll cash out at 10 and move on. If we hit we'll play longer. We usually will cash out when we double what we've put in; except when we've been drinking and then we tend to continue to play until we've lost it.

Thats what I did this trip ....... kept moving around to diff penny slots, in diff casinos , did hit a couple big wins ie put in 20.00 and won back 150.00 but reinvested promptly lol

I find the slots were tighter than ever , bet 1.05 on a spin and maybe win back about 45 cent lol

wife and I have done same as you gmoney590 on our last couple of trips.
we put 5 or 10 bucks in a machine and if we have no luck we move on and if we can double it we try to cash out unless the machine is doing really well.

we still have fun that way, have drinks and the cash goes further.
