Barbara Mandrell/that 70's show guy/ Y&R star I always love to look in the store at Caesers just in case someone famous is there. We met Barbara Mandrell in Gucci and I got a photo with her. It was several years back when she was performing at the Mirage I think. We met & got a photo with Mrs Chancellor of the Young & the Restless at the airport on our last visit. One of the curly haired boys from that 70's show was 20 feet from Mrs C at the airport but there several teenagers waiting around so no photo or anything but it was funny. I am getting SOOOO old and laugh that I used to hound the rockers for autographs at or after concerts and stuff. He was very polite and was taking photos and signing for all the girls. We are heading to vegas again for the first time in a couple years over Nascar weekend. I am hoping to BUMP into Jon BonJovi who is playing at the MGM on the Saturday night. Is he a frequent Vegas tourist? If so where might I stalk him? I mean FIND him. Do they stay where they are playing or usually head out of town right after the concert? He is playing at the MGM. Please email me direc tif you have any clue. Mary [email protected]
Now there's a celeb i would love to meet. at her age i think she is so beautiful and elegant...classy and talented. a lot like dolly parton, who never let fame and fortune go to her head. i personally would love to get a picture of me crunched in between her 3 sisters.....WOW
Any good celebrity stories? Does anyone have any good Vegas celebrity stories? Gambling at the same table, hanging out in a club, ride in the elevator, next table at dinner? I've seen lots of celebrities but no close encounters that come to mind. (This question comes up as I am watching Dateline and see Michael Jackson at Caesars)
I've only had two celebrity sightings in Vegas. At MGM, I was walking towards the check in desk with all our luggage and see this really huge guy in front of me. Someone comes running from behind me and runs up to the guy, as soon as the big guy turns, I see it's Evander Hollyfield and the guy running was just saying hi to him, asking for his autograph. Hollyfield signed it and went on his way, saying a couple nice things to the guy while he was walking away. And, I saw Pauly Shore in the security line at the airport. Some dude was talking to him in line and Pauly was obviously annoyed but still being really cool to the guy. The line became a buzz because Pauly was in line. He was just one person in front of me (the guy who was talking to him was in front of me). Oh, and Ron Jeremy at the airport once as well. In the waiting area to get on the planes. He was alone but I choose not to go talk to him. I wish I would have though.
Was in line at a gift shop on my second trip to LV (15 years ago maybe) behind some guy with longish grey hair holding a little dog. Seemed sort of odd for a man to be toting a dog around like that. This was before Paris Hilton or whoever made it the in thing to do. The guy bought some snacks and left. The cashier then said, "oh, did you see George Carlin?". Just then he turned around, almost on cue, and I got a good look at him. Also saw Jesse Jackson going in or out of the Toni Braxton concert at Flamingo three or four years back. He was taking pictures with people. Total fake smile, could tell he didn't want to be in that situation. Once in Reno they closed down a craps table I was playing on and turned it private. I waited to see who was coming to play and it was Patrick Swayze and his wife. She's quite the gambler. He was just hanging out with the entourage mostly. Word is they used to fly in every few weeks so she could get her gamble on. Handful of celebrities in Lake Tahoe during the celebrity golf tournament a few years back. The one notable was Mark McGuire a couple years after he retired. All my wife and I could talk about was how he looked like a deflated balloon in the t-shirt he was wearing. It was like he didn't buy new clothes after going off the juice. He was swimming in this shirt it was so small. Thing is, this was a year or so before the steroids scandal broke so we just thought he turned into a couch potato after his playing days.
I never see celebrities in Vegas. Dan's been with me and spotted some playing in the casino, but I never notice. I've met enough famous people that there are few that would really get me excited about it. I still doubt I'd approach them. Maybe I would "Kinnear"* them though. My only celebrity run in was in Reno. A few of us girls were there and one of us was playing craps. Cousin Larry from the late 80's sitcom wanted her BAAAAAAAD. He was feelin no pain and it was hillarious. She was totally into the dice and it took about 10 minutes before she leaned over to my other friend and asked if he was flirting with her. Hell, he was practically mounting her. *Any knitters here? To Kinnear someone is to sereptitiously take a celebrity picture with your cellphone. I guess it doesn't have to be a celebrity, but a cell phone pic taken under the arm/ over the shoulder/ down from the hip. Stealthy. Thank you Yarn Harlot!
A couple of years ago I was at the Fitz for the Super Bowl, I met Bob Lilly and Daryell Lomonica and actually watched the game with them at a small party on the second floor. I'm a huge Cowboys fan so that was a real treat for me. I also met John Thompson at the MGM.
Once I was taking a leak in Caesars in the mens room behind Cleopatra's Barge and the guy next to me was that craps guy from the movie Casino. (The guy whose chips Sharon Stone throws in the air). I didn't offer him a shake though. He runs a mens clothing store in Caesars, we go check him out from time to time, see if he's there.
A few years back, we stayed at Paris Las Vegas. During our stay, Whoopi Goldberg was performing there, as well. One evening, we were riding the elevator down to the casino from our room. As the elevator doors opened, a couple of people started rushing in instantaneously, without waiting for the other people in the elevator to unload. The two rushing in were Whoopi and some guy, who I assume was her agent. Whoopi and I came face to face, almost running into one another. She was a lot shorter than I expected, and seemed to be "zoomed" out or something.
Across the casino floor, I saw a big, big guy that looked like Shaquille O'Neal playing craps one Saturday night at Planet Hollywood. Had a small group of friends around him but because no one was making a big deal of him, I didn't think it was really him. Plus they weren't dressed flashy or anything. Just shorts, T-shirt and sandals...no bling that I would assume playas like that would be wearing. Next week, I read in Norm's LVRJ column that Shaq was indeed spotted inside PHo. I still can't get over how I messed up not recognizing a 7 foot giant. I would have gone over to at least take a better look.
Tori Spelling in Mandalay Bay Magic Johnson in Bellagio Nicky Hilton at the Palms Janice Dickinson at Tao Played BJ at same table with Keenan (can't remember last name) from SNL cast Lots of pro football players that DH says the names to and I have no idea who they are Sat right next to Joe Montana at N9NE at the Palms...he asked to try our appetizer
I saw Mike Tyson at the Forum Shops. He was in a store that was closed off so he and his entourage could shop undisturbed. A large crowd of people was gathered outside to gawk through the glass. Other than that the only "celebrity" I've ever seen was Richard Kiel (the guy who played Jaws in some James Bond movies - he was also the big guy toward the end of Happy Gilmore) at the airport.
"Ed McMahon's Million Dollar Madness" We had an invation to meet Ed McMahon at the Vegas Club a few years ago. We went and it was great. They had a little party for him and you got to sit with him for a few minutes to ask him any questions you wanted to. They were introducing a new slot machine of which I never got to play. It was called: "Ed McMahon's Million Dollar Madness." He was a very nice man to talk to. RIP Ed. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_pwwi/is_200504/ai_n13601516/
I have only one good Vegas celebrity story, and I've told it many, many times. Played at the same blackjack table as Telly Savalas at the Dunes on one of my very first trips to Vegas. He was performing there at the time. Was just a pup then, so very excited by it all.
I saw Shane Sparks at the Miracle Mile Mall last summer but if you are not in the dance world, I'm sure you don't know who he is. We go to the SEMA show every November and I see tons of Nascar drivers and drag race drivers there for meet and greets. Last year, we saw Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Carroll Shelby, Jack Roush, John Force and Ashley Force. Oh and last year at the SEMA show, I got my picture made with Nelly. He even said to me when I told him I was taking it to school to show my kids that it would be the coolest thing I ever did. Last year at the show we were in line to meet Clint Bowyer when this young girl announced to everyone that Dale Jr was there. She claimed she had gotten a personal email from him. She was a liar but the crowd rushed in anyway and Clint Bowyer thought it was all for him.
