    My Trip Report

Well my wife has made it clear in no uncertain terms that I have seen the last of Vegas for some period of time, and given my work schedule it will be at least 6 months, but could be much longer so it is a good thing this trip was an all-time classic.

I haven't got too much time to share in the details but a quick overview by catagory:

    CAST OF CHARACTERS

    Bart aka BeeeJay
    Borat we'll call him
    Jason & Cheri
    Tanya & Gabe
    Krislin & Jeremie
    Will & Erin
    Eddie & Rebecca

a lot of friends had to cancel due to layoffs, those who did come seems like brought their wives to make it more salable as a trip. The wives who came are all a blast though so no worries.

    TRAVEL

I sprung for limo from my home to O Hare and back again, aisle seats on AA, Wynn house limo to Encore tower suites. Rented a Cadillac Escalade from Avis in Encore for drive to golf.

    HOTEL

Stayed at Encore with buddy whom we will call Borat, in a resort panoramic view double queen room while putting sister and bro-in-law up in resort king across the hall. my room was RFB for 2 and we were given rooms on the very tower suite end of the resort tower with our access granted via the tower suites lobby and our keys had the stars on them allowing line passes and access to the tower suites invited guest lounge. the whole Encore tower suites setup is outstanding. It is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The double rooms are nice, I like them better than the kings as they are bigger and more open.

    DINING

McDonalds---usual stop at O Hare airport
Wynn buffet lunch---with Rebecca and Eddie, fantastic as always
Botero Dinner---with Eddie, bone in filet with crab was truly amazing
Room Service late nite---drunken order of general tsos chicken hit the spot
Pool Lunch---$16 chicken wrap had microscopic amount of chicken but good dipping sauce
Sinatra---Filet was ok, gnocchi ok, fun watching old lady in white blouse spill red wine on herself and chair.
Zoozacrackers Sandwiches---awesome deli food we took to golf in a cooler
SW Steakhouse---Filet with crab oscar and many side dishes were outstaning, better service this time.
McDonalds breakfast---old school breakfast burritios were edible.
McDonalds Lunch---false advertising on double big mac shown on video screens, available only outside US.
Drug Store @ Wynn Cafe---nothing open late on tuesdays so had a chicken panini--pretty good!
Wynn buffet breakfast---awesome meal to finish the trip
Burger King---usual stop at the Vegas airport.

    ENTERTAINMENT

Hatton-Pacquiao fight----back row seats provided comped by luxor, was fun for one time thing, glad free.
Le Reve---did luxury VIP package. it was just the right amount of show. seemed good, not my thing.
Golf at The Chase @ Coyote Springs---Best $100 golf round I have ever enjoyed, outstanding course.

    GAMBLING

Just ridiculous results for the amount of play. Two $4,000 W-2's. A couple huge runs on craps and blackjack. Lost $3,000 in first 15 minutes in Vegas, then flipped to the positive for about $15,000 over the remainder of the trip, returning with $11,700 net profit for the trip. Could not have had more of a Horseshoe up my ass for the minimal level of play.

    SHENANIGANS

Security was required for our party multiple times due to people passing out in the lobby, wandering into multiple restricted zones, etc. There was a wallet cleaned out by an aggressive female/grifter....lots of shower and hot tub pics. LOTS of time spent at the European pool. Rode elevator with Ashton Kutchar who asked about our golf clubs, I did not figure out who he was for a minute as I was pretty cashed out from the golf.

    SUMMARY

This final Vegas trip of the cycle was one of the best yet. Despite minmizing exposure, I was able to stay well within budget and hit two video poker jackpots, 20 blackjacks, and numerous hard ways and high-lows on craps yielding a nice low 5-figure profit. As the room was up front RFB, we tagged Wynn/Encore for $4,500 in room, food, and beverage...thanks primarily to a real pounding of the pool and the $18 drinks there. Wynn comped ALL of it, except $420 in tips and $90 my sister charged to her room, which was not RFB.

The Chase at Coyote springs is well worth the drive and I can't see playing anywhere else in Vegas as long as it is $100. I'll probably skip the shows and fights in the future as they are grotesquely overpriced.

The Encore Tower Suites is the best hotel in Vegas. We got to be friends with a lot of the staff.

The general overall service in Vegas, even with the birght spots taken into account at Encore, makes me sick for the amount being paid. The companies are already gouging you with overpriced products, then add in service charges, and included tips, plus the expectation of additional large tips for very slow service with a poor attitutde and it all spells a big turn off for me. We spoke with some Europeans about this issues and they travel a lot to Asia and cant say enough about how good the service is there and how bad in the US. Again there are lots of bright spots outside this norm, but the norm over 12 vegas trips for me is an "entitlement attitude" among the service staffs. The worst offenders are the pool sluts, then the restaurant staffs, and finally the room service staff. They are far too often slow, snooty, and incompetent. The bellmen, security, taxi, cashiers, etc are as a rule extremely efficient and also appreciative of even small tips. I would never pay to eat or drink at any of these gouge high end pools or restaurants or room service. I hate to even do it for free because i have to tip some A-hole for sucking. and remember I am talking about high end places, the service and quality just goes down from there. We saw a coin-op ice machine at IP! Have they no shame?

Due to a great group of friends i had one hell of a time this trip. I got 3 hrs of sleep max per night and was probably one night from a hospital check in and loved every minute of it. Getting a lot of free crap and winning a ****e-load of money helped a lot. Still this was a wild and crazy group and luckily we stayed out of the backrooms and jail cells.

Loved the report and video. Glad to hear that someone is leaving Vegas a winner. One thing I've learned about tipping is that if the service is bad, slow for no reason or unattentive you get no tip.

BeeeJay, I'm one of your biggest fans and love your lengthy Trip Reports.:nworthy:

Since this was one of your better trips, I'm hoping that at some point in the future, you'll get to writing a more detailed report for us poor suckers that live vicariously through. PLEASE.

Sounds like a lot of good things happening, would love to here about the wins, and you're usually great with the pics. A few hot tub ones would fit the bill.:evillaugh

Congrats on your wins anyway, but please find the time to dish the dirt.

actually I am 5 trip reports behind:

    Feb 2009
    Mar 2009
    Mar 2009
    Apri 2009
    May 2009

there is no June trip planned as I am retiring and taking at least 6 months off from Vegas, possibly much longer cause I am so sick of it.

That said I currently have reservations for:

    June 2009
    July 2009
    August 2009

....geez, need to spend a trip doing trip reports!

I'm a little confused on the above. So are you going to Vegas anytime soon?
Or do you have a different trip planned for those dates mentioned?

Great trip report and video!! Congats on the wins. That "no trip in June 6-month hiatus" is the shortest damn six months I've ever heard of, lol. Know anyway to make the what seems like 6 months of winter in Canada fly that quickly?
