    My Trip Report

We just got back and poor Alan had to work last night. However, I do not go back until Sat. hopefully I can get this all written by then.
I was going to write a condensed version but how can you really squeeze all you do in LV in a few words?
So I will write up as much as I can remember and hopefully you will enjoy my report.

    11/3/08 day of leaving home
Stayed Sunday night in Akron Ohio. We were flying out of CAK and decided to stay overnight. About 2hr drive from our house in PA but saved a bundle of $$$ flying from there. Delta flights from Akron to Atlanta to LV. 90 min layover in ATL, just enough time to stretch, bathroom visit and sandwich up at a deli shop. Arrived in LV about 15mins early. Flights just fine, no delays and had carry-ons so off to the
car rentals we go! Dollar rental Express member so we bypass the counter and straight to the kiosk.
Rented a compact and got our first score of the trip. Upgraded to a really nice SUV...Ford Edge. Plenty
of head room for hubby who is 6'5". Great Zoom! Off we go to our hotel for the first 2 nights...Bally's.
Had a free couple of night offers from HET and booked for here. Had never stayed at Bally's before so wasn't really sure what to expect. We had a south tower room booked but we were upgraded? to a north tower king room without even asking. Room 785...overlooking the monorail and Bill's. Big oversized room with blue velvet loveseat and chair. Very clean and the bed was comfy. Off we go to play.
Bounced around from various games, was surprised to see alot of $5 tables on the strip, not only here but other casinos we popped into for those days we were on the strip. Played for a long time on the Texas Holdem game...$100 buy in, fun table and dealer and walked with $350 when the smoke cleared.
Up to the room for some sleep.

    More to come....

Great start. Looking forward to reading the rest. Nice score on the upgrade at Dollar. Hoping to do that as well in a few weeks.

    Trip Report Part 2

    11/05/08 off we go!!!
After a good night's sleep we start walking up the strip to the flamingo. had a 241 for the buffet so we ate breakfast there. Sat right by the windows so we had a nice view of the birds and vice versa. SEMA was in town so there was a lot of folks zipping around for that. I don't remember the Flamingo being that pink! We walked up to Harrah's and popped in. Played Pai Gow for awhile, watched some really odd folks walk by...don't people check the mirrors before they leave thier room? As we headed back to Bally's we cruised into Rob's place of employment. There he was...Falcon Rob...standing at the craps table. After I introduced us we stayed awhile and played craps. I did pretty good and knew just when to walk...with thier $$$...LOL! I made sure the crew was taken care of...I always like to get them in the game...good karma. Great to finally meet Rob and say HI! We went to the food court there and had a few slices of pizza...I know I know, not the best but was a quick fill. While waiting for Alan to come back from the restroom I played Press Your Luck. When he came out the machine was going bonkers and my credits were going up. I had absolutely NO idea how and what was going on but when the meter finally stopped I was looking at $200plus which wasn't bad for $20 into the game. CASHOUT! Went on back to Bally's. BTW, the weather was just grand, at least to us. Sunny in the 60s and 70s, little windy but we enjoyed it. Back at Bally's I was playing Hold'em in the party pit. Now there was a group there from Canada and they were fun to BS with until... I started winning. I was placing bets for the dealer and hitting the bonus fairly regularly. My chips were increasing and thier slightly snide comments were getting more frequnt. Even the dealer and pit boss noticed it. I just smiled and kept going. When I finally left the table I had my first $500 dollar chip and several black ones. The dealers thanked me for the bets...only one tipping mind you... and off I went to find Alan. I told him what went on and a few minutes later we looked over and the table was empty. Wandered over and found out that the canadian group lost even more after I left. They thought they would get the GOOD cards once I left the table. Wrong! So day 2 came to a close.

    More to come...

I love that hold em game. I made my first trip to Vegas in July 2007 and was coincidentally playing at Ballys also, bought in for $100.00 and ended up walking away with a $1000.00 chip (purple I think). Of course I had to sit at that table for close to 9 hours but the table I was at was just outside the Indigo Lounge so for about 6 of those hours I got to listen to some good old school Motown music from 2 bands. Great TR so far, look forward to the rest.

    Trip Report Part 3

    11/05/08 Wed
After checking out of Bally's I wanted to go see the new Eastside Cannery so off we go. A quick stop at Target for a few items and then we zip over to boulder highway. The EC is bight, cherry and filled with all sorts of new machines. Evil machines... that took my moola! Alan did well at the tables but I can still
hear the machines gleefully chuckling at me, all of them except... what's this? A Lucky Larry Lobstermania!!! And Larry did like me. So I got a bit back from him and he silenced the snickers from his cold metal friends. Thanks Larry! We left there and headed downtown for our 5 free nights at the Fitz.
Checkin was easy and we had room 2137, again king bed N/S. East view. Very clean, bed was just right and extra pillows were present. Had absolutely no issues with the elevators being slow. Hallways were clean and bright. This will probably be our new DT digs. Alas, the $$ from Larry slipped away as I played everywhere. Good drink service made my losses float away. We wandered to the Golden Gate for our players cards and then shrimp cocktails. They have really cleaned up the Gate and they put dancers in the pit. 2 VERY scantily clad ladies danced while folks watched, played and drooled. It was quite funny to watch this one group of guys trying to play blackjack and watch the girls at the same time. Girls won everytime! We went over to the Cal and played for a while and then back to the Fitz. I played some 1-2 NL poker in thier poker nook...dealers nice and helpful. Players with various levels of skill. Was there for several hours before losing my buy-in. BTW... I forgot to say that we each had a budget for each day and pretty much kept to it. No ATM visits or check cashing. When one of us was running low the other had $$ to hand over. So we did OK and what we won went into our winnings envelope each night.
FSE was as always a fun way to spend an evening watching folks, listening to bands and looking at all the souvenier shops. Time does sort of get away from you and the next thing I knew it was 3am. Time for some sleep.
    11/6/08 Thursday
We ate at the Courtyard Buffet at the Fitz. Now before you gag...it wasn't bad. Fresh fruit, omlettes made to order, waffles and wait...is that a big pan of ...OMG... BACON!!!! Crispy, hot and all that is holy on a pig!!!!! I really couldn't get good bacon at the Flamingo but here at the Fitz they MUST have a bacon guru. Yum Yum Yummy Yum!!!!! Today we played around DT then went over to the Monte Carlo for a meet at Diablo's. Met up with Sarah9nascar and a host of other folks from other boards who love Vegas. It was great!!! Today also started the final 4 rounds for the PBR and so each of the next 4 days we were at the Thomas & Mack arena for the bullriding. I am sooo hooked on this. We carry over our tickets each year so we have the same seats. Afterwards it was back to the Fitz and then more gaming and shrimps. Many malibu pineapples were consumed while playing...had to keep hydrated you know.
We were at the Fremont playing blackjack with 2 guys from Hawaii...Patrick and his BIL Darryl. OMG, these 2 were soooooo much fun and the 4 of us were having a great time. D ran into some bad luck and had to dig out his wallet. This is the insane part here. I jokingly said "all in?" and he put $200 cash in and said "money plays." I am freaking out and all 4 of us watch the cards. Face card is out for D...and then....An ACE!!!! We all were laughing and high fiveing. And D...he was cool as a cucumber. Damn! That was one of the best times we had on any trip we had to LV. Those 2 guys were so cool and fun to talk with. Finally dragged our butts back to our room and passed out. Stay tuned for more....

Very nice read so far. Congrats on the $500 chip; that had to feel good. It's nice to hear that some of the DT places are cleaning themselves up. When we were down there several years ago some of the places could use some industrial strength cleaning.

Great TR! Sounds like a wonderful time!

I can't stand the people who blame someone else for taking the "good" cards! My wife gets the same treatment at times. Nobody ever seems to mess with me, but they always seem to jump all over women when they are on a good roll, instead of just congratulating them. I'm always just glad to see someone beat the house!

    Part 4...still with me???
    11/7/08-11/9/08
Friday morning had us going to Texas Station. I don't know why but I really like this place. Had a 241 for the boofet so we got our grub on. You really can't screw up a basic breakfast buffet and this one is pretty tasty. Lots and lots of bacon, fruit and omlettes. Bonus ...Grits!!! I love them. Afterwards we played some Pai Gow and they have PG insurance. Basically a sucker bet but you bet $1 to $25 that youo get a bad hand with 9 high PG paying off 100-1. Well, I couldn't get any good cards but I made $19 on bad hands...LOL!! Back to the Fitz for a cleanup and off to the bullriding. Later that night we ended up at the Plaza. Started playing $10 DD Blackjack and that's when it happened. You know, when you get into a zone and the cards were right? Well, I couldn't lose if I wanted to. I kept the dealer in the hand everytime with a $1/$2 and we were both in amazement. When the smoke cleared i had a tidy sum of chips and she made a nice profit. It helped that she was cheering me on and comiserating the occasional loss. I was in total shock over how well I did. If I only knew....
Saturday... Reared its ugly head. Should of stayed in bed with the sheet over me. I couldn't win a gumball that day. No matter what I played I couldn't win. I kept thinking "ok, just ride it out. everybody has the good with the bad" But damn, it was nasty. Alan was doing fine but I was a sinking ship!
Off to the bullriding we go. Marchi won the world championship which I was thrilled over. We then go back to the Plaza and there's Brenda. I plop down at her table and she is ready to help me find my mojo. Which became glaringly obvious that I left it somewhere else. Ugly! So I drag my sorry butt off to bed hopeing that the next day would be better.
Sunday! Here we go. Had to be at the T&M arena at 1130am...Jeebus!! After the finals we went to the Wynn. Alan signed up for a card and in short order had 25points. Spin the wheel!! He won 2 free buffets. Guess where we ate dinner. We played BJ there for awhile and actually came out a bit ahead. Was my mojo returning? Sat down at a $10 Three card poker table and he went off looking around. 2nd hand in I had $10 on the bonus and ante. Get my cards, fan them out and....3 tens looking back at me!!!! Yahoo!!! $300 on the bonus!!! I played another hand or 2 then colored up and went looking for Alan. Found him at a new game...Mississippi Stud. With a big pile of chips. You play it kind of like a reverse LIR. Lots of fun and you can win big or lose quickly. I really don't know how Mr. Wynn kept open that day...2 free buffies and $600 cash to us with our combined winnings. We ate very well...love the desserts and then went back to the Fitz. I kept my head above water the rest of the evening and was glad to put some winnings in my go home envelope. Night night time!

    Last 2 days!!!!!
    11/10/09 to 11/11/08
On Monday we changed hotels and departed the Fitz for the Silverton. This is a very nice quiet hotel/casino. We have stayed here on several different occasions and have always enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and comfortable and you can't really hear any noise from the freeway or construction. We went down to the South Point for some play and ended up getting a comp for the deli there. The food here is really good and plentiful. I was not doing very well with my playing but I did get to play the new Wizard of Oz game. Lordy was that a hoot!!! We left there and went over to GVR...don't know why, just felt like checking it out. If any body goes over there on thier next trip, see if you can find my ass...I lost it there! LOL!!! Back to the Silverton we go.
Tuesday found us heading over to the Orleans...6X points day and I ran a lot up on my card. Back to the Silvwerton. Our flight leaves at midnight so we had plenty of time to play and have a snooze. Ate at the buffet here and as always the food was very tasty. Used my 241 coupon so it was pretty inexpensive. Sat down to play 3 card poker and on my first hand I got a straight flush...SWEET!!! A little cash back to me.
So once again our trip has ended and it is time to go. The flight home was uneventful and we got home safely. Our 4 cats were thrilled we were back and it is now time to plan the next trip to Vegas.
    Thanks for reading.
