    My Trip Report

Flew out of Manchester (LOVE THAT AIRPORT) on an 11:15 am Southwest non stop flight (cost $5...thanks to hubby gifting me his free trip). Took less than 30 mins to check bag and get through security. Trip was with Mother in Law ...she turns 80 next month, I turned 50 last month...hence the 2 Old ladies title. Plane was full so we had a nice stranger sitting between us. 5 hours and 40 minutes later we landed...tried to sleep a little got in a few winks.

This was Weds. Sept 10th...we were off the plane quick (3rd row), ladies room, baggage claim and our bags were off quickly, no line at the cab stand, quick ride to Paris, no line at Platinum. It was before 3 pm, room was ready, given room 2780. Redone room, 2 beds, smoking, view of fountains, eiffel and pool. Room was comped.

Walked over to Bellagio and had their dinner buffet it was after 4 so paid the big bucks. First time eating there...food was good but for the life of me can't remember the regular food...all I remember is the deserts!!! I am now in love with Creme Broulle sp?, I don't care how you spell it, I want to live on it for the rest of my life...also had the Bananas Foster, Flan and bread pudding (couldn't find any sauce for it though). Showed MIL the conservatory, updated my MGM card (magnetic strip wasn't being read last trip) played a little...lost. (standard for this trip)

Bally's, Paris played lost....MIL was suffering from the east coast time diff so we were in our room for the night by 9 and she was out like a light.

Thurs morning stopped at the cage to cash the $50 certificate HET had mailed me for spending too much money back in April. Went to Paris breakfast buffet (first time) very good, used comps. Walked down the strip, slowly making our way to the Wynn...first time at the Wynn(yes, this is a try new stuff so a lot of first times). We signed up for card did our free play, got more free play after earning 25 points. Off to Wynn's buffet ...yes, for first time. Food was very good, but breakfast and lunch on same day was a killer. Made our way back up the strip. Playing at Harrahs, Flamingo and Bills on our way. Heat, travel hangover, old age definately caught up with us this trip. Crashed in our room for a few hours late afternoon, hit the shuttle to Rio. MIL won I kept my losing streak up. Crashed back at Paris by 10...I'm telling ya, we are getting too old for this chit.

Friday am..Paris buffet on comps again...shuttle back to Rio, MIL won, I lost. Hit Bills and Paris in the afternoon, grabbed a small sandwich at Nosh late afternoon...we were still full from the past 2 days buffets. Went to Planet Hollywood (first time playing there) early evening, I finally held my own for awhile, loved their machines. Slot person came over and asked us to sign up for their rewards card, did that and went upstairs to do the 6 pm slot tourney, I won a flashlight. On our way out it finally hit me. We were the oldest people in the entire casino. I know they market the place to young people, but I found it funny when I noticed everyone there was under 40...we were never made to feel out of place though. Walked the strip south and stopped at McDs around 9. Back to Paris and I'm finally winning, nothing big, but better than the suck in the $20 and give you nothing, cashed a few hundred, eventually gave it back. Back to the room and my turn to crash.

Sat am..Paris buffet comps again. Played a few hours was winning, started playing stupid gave most of it back... I know better, just didn't care.

We decided to skip shows since we only had 2 full days and we both were suffering from it's hot, I'm tired. Sat by the window every night watching Bellagio fountain show. Good think I bring earplugs, I can see how some people may not want the premium rooms. You can hear the boom from the show all night long. Lesson learned...first time doing a "quickie" trip, 3 nights from the east coast...will never do it again...with the travel exhaustion will stick with my 5 night vacations. At least you feel like you have time to rest a little, on a short trip you feel like you have to go go go cause it will be time to leave before you know it.

Checked out at 10:30, no line at Platinum check out, no line for taxi, got to LAS way tooo early. Checked bag...short line, security...no real line. Hit burger king and the slots while waiting for flight time. Flight home not full so had the empty seat between us. Slept at least 2 hours. Flight home is quicker than flight out 5 hour flight time coming home.

Yes, I know this TR is boring. I can't help it. Free flight, free room, ate half my meals free, they gave me $50 to come back. I don't know how to explain it. MIL and me got along fine, I just didn't find it exciting. I did notice less people, I never stood in a line for anything the entire time. I arrived tired and never got over that, so maybe that was the problem. It is also the first time I've gone to Vegas twice in same year. I just didn't feel the excitement this trip. Maybe going with hubby is more fun...I will be going back next April as always. I would stay at Paris again, I had played here but first time staying. Rooms and hotel are beautiful and great location.

This was my 7th trip and my 7th different hotel. :ssst: Who knows which one I will pick next year.

I know the feeling of trying to get everything done,

..before the time runs out! Much like you, I do not like it, and won't do short trips (East Coast too) anymore.
    ;-)

You sure did pack in a lot very quickly, though, and I found myself reading the whole report without taking a breath! LOL

Short trips are fine if you're close and not going thru multiple time zones. It just seems like you always have to do something and there's very little time to just relax.

I hear you on the short trip from the east coast......we returned late last Saturday after only 4 days and I barely slept the whole time we were there.....just too rushed a trip and too much to get in - back to 5 or 6 days for us next time too!

You packed a lot into 2 days! We tried a 3-4 day trip once...you are right. You feel like you are a few steps behind on everything. That's why we are there for 7 days in Nov...Yippee!

I enjoyed your trip report; it wasn't boring to me :) The wife and I have been doing twice a year for a while now, but have found it a bit difficult now in these economic times...and I think it was time to slow down on Vegas a bit anyway. We're due to go back again in April now and will probably do once a year. I think it'd be weird going without her as we seem to like to do the same things; maybe you're the same way.

    Short but sweet!

Back-to-back buffets?!! You chicks are fearless, I'm telling you...fearless. I agree with you about the Bellagio buffet. I'm always in awe of their desserts.

Don't ever apologize for a trip report. I think everybody here loves a report no matter where they fall on the trip report spectrum. Long, short, busy, lazy...I know they ALL add to my anticipation of a next trip.

I alway enter sweeps for 2 night trips. But I would have to make arrangements and extend it a few days lol. I could not do just 2 nights. On the Planet Ho tourney you mentioned is that the one that just runs all day every day where you try to get 5000 points to win a prize? Or was this something different?

I guess it is the everyday one. They gave us a slip to enter when we signed up for the card and the next time was only 20 minutes away...so we did it. I did have over 5000 points...but someone else was higher, and the board had higher totals than mine, so I never went back to see if I "won" anything. I figured I didn't win the hour so I probably didn't win anything. The flashlight is cool though...small about 3 inches LED, bright with a PH on it, I keep it in my purse...great for travel.;)

Was fun...I have never done a tourney in Vegas, I receive offers...timing just is never right. I have done them at Foxwoods in the past. I don't know what the ones you have done are like...but at Foxwoods you go for 15 or 20 minutes...carpal tunnel city in both arms by the time I was done. LOL.

    Great report!
I can only take Vegas once a year and prefer a week long trip with the wife.
