Pics of Harrah's St. Louis

Not sure if anyone is interested but thought I would toss out a few pics of the Harrahs St. Louis. Our room was in the 'new' tower - or the pricier tower if you are going along those lines. They are very focused on 'Diamond' at this location. I couldn't really figure it out until I discovered you HAD to be playing a card to play. Had to swipe it when you go into the casino, where you are then making a pact with the bible belt State of Missouri that you will not lose more than $500 each two hours. I actually had to get a card with a signature strip on the back that I signed to that effect. Well, then it became easy to figure out that anyone that gambles with any frequency would become a Diamond member quite easily because you basically have to always have your card in or most of the machines would not even accept your money. I spent a few hours each of 3 evenings in the casino. 1st & 2nd night equaled out - 3rd night was a nightmare. However, during those 3 nights (playing penny & 2 cent machines at normally $1/spin) I did accrue about 1000 Tier Credits and about $30 in food comps. I thought they added up pretty well for about 9 hours of play at my low rate, and if this were a casino near my home I would be Diamond by about April Fools Day every year, LOL!!!

We did normal tourist things such as Arch, ballgame, Grant's Farm, Brewery Tour, Union Station, Ted Drewes frozen custard, Waffle House breakfast, etc. It was hot and sticky for most of the trip.

The buffet for breakfast at Harrah's was awesome. It was $8.99 during M-S. I believe around $18 or $19 for Sunday. We ate one morning and were stuffed. Very impressive and a beautiful buffet facility.

And I apologize for the mess in the room. We were too tired when we got in there to take pics right away!

Very easy to apply my comps at check-out and the only thing that was not covered was internet for some reason. In Vegas I am normally able to apply my comps to that. Also it appeared in Missouri that even for comped food items we had to pay sales tax - which you don't in Vegas. Unless she boo-booed on my bill - but it was only a few bucks for the snack bar and the buffet.

Long hallway to Casino - stores, ice cream, snack bar, buffet area, players club all before you get to Casino. Hotel elevators are a short way down on right.


Diamond Check-In area, however it was never open - they ran them at a separate line at normal counter

Wasn't much different than Jackson County on a bad dad, LOL. But that Saturday was unbearable. 3 of the 4 of us passed out in the room after Grant's Farm and a quick side trip to Ted Drewes for custard. Son went and ran 12 miles in the fitness center.................. Then we bopped 10 minutes to downtown St. Charles to a brewpub for an awesome prime rib. That Ameristar Casino has put a HUGE tower up in St. Charles. A bit out of place with the historic downtown area, but the traffic was backed up waiting to turn down the street to get to it. Only gambled at Harrah's so I knew I would get some credit back for my play.

 

Oh man, this talk of Ted Drewe's takes me back to my 'yoot'. We used to park in that old mormon church parking lot there and get a concrete late at night on the weekends. Great Stuff!

Sometimes I really miss St. Louis, but not enough to move back there. Almost forgot about the hot & sticky part. But a weekend of gambling, Ted Drewe's, brewery tours, and a ballgame sounds like a great time.

We are talking about heading to St. Louis sometime this fall and the plan is to stay at Harrah's. How far is it to downtown? We want to do the Arch and the Hill I believe which I think is the Italian section of town. The rooms look nice, I can definately see staying there. Thanks for the report and pics.

 

Figure 25 minutes to be safe. If you look at a map and find St. Charles on the northwest end you will cut south right before you cross the river to St. Charles. While you are crossing the river it is very easy to see Harrahs but a bit windy to get to it with the car. We often stayed in St. Charles anyway so distance was same. My room rates right now are only comps during weeknights so maybe I didnt spend enough lol. Although I imagine they fill up easier in cooler fall weather. So hopefully next summer they will offer me free ones again.

 

Thanks for posting the pictures jgates. I didn't make it on my trip to St. Louis this time, but it's nice to be able to get a look at the hotel if I go in the future.

Oh, btw, I've already passed along the information you sent me to another curious poster who saw that I was planning to go to this property on another message board. So, at least it went to good use for someone!

Great report and pics. Harrahs St. Louis has sure been improved since we were there in 2005. I was pretty lucky on their slots, but the buffet was the pits back then and the rooms were not much better than Super 8. I've been wanting to go back but just haven't yet. Maybe some day.
