Not sure where to post this question. I would imagine that this question has been asked many times before, but I cannot find any current post/information.
Does anybody have a suggestion on where the best/biggest/cheapest Liquor Store is in the vicinity of Downtown? (Whiskey)
I will be staying at the Golden Gate and walking.

    Thank you
    WIZARD

If it's just for a bottle, personally, I'd just go to ABC. The price will be higher than grocery or Lee's etc., but public trans will cost you money and time. The extra time and effort just isn't worth it when I'm on vacation.

We do the same when staying downtown. Prices are not that bad and you can just walk there so easily.

My thinking is that you've paid for airfare, mabe room, maybe food and probably gambling $1-5K that you might lose, so why worry about an extra $5 for a bottle of booze? Compared to the rest, it's hardly a spec on the carpet.

The gift shop on the mezzanine of California also has reasonable prices but limited hours.

If you’re looking for some highly limited whiskeys, ABC might be able to help you out and get some highly allocated brands like McCallan and Suntory at their other stores
