I'm your age, and I've done three trips to LV, two of them solo, since the pandemic eased up.

If you stick to the well-traveled areas you should be fine. City cops and hotel/casino security are everywhere. Just don't do anything stupid like go walking around the iffy areas at 0-dark-30.

At least in the center Strip area they keep the winos and such under control.

Be streetwise and use common sense. Watch your bag like a hawk! Don't flash yer cash! If you just cashed a big ticket or lotsa chips, ask for security to escort you to your room, they do it all the time.

Well, the elevators to pedestrian overpasses won't smell any better than before. I would much sooner walk around in Vegas than in Seattle, sad to say, and I used to like it. I think February is a perfect time to visit Vegas.

there were some residual upticks coming out of COVID - as there were in most metro areas. much of that has subsided.

there were probably more issues than you realized in the past, and less issues than the click-bait internet articles of today make it seem to be. just because something is getting more attention doesn't mean that it's actually more prevalent.

i'm in my early 40s, so younger than you - and i've spent most of my adult life living in major cities - so perhaps not the best case study, but i've never felt worried about my safety and well being while in Vegas.
