I won't be the first person to bemoan the slow death of the BHB and 777 Brew Pub. What I miss:

-full pay (9/6) Jacks or Better VP (or anything FP, but especially JOB)
-scratch cards (which were always $2/3/5, but fun)
-the already taken away ability to tip with the scratch cards
-777 being cheap and the perfect mix of classy/debaucherous/sporty (kinda like Brews Brothers at Eldorado Reno)
    -did I mention FP Jacks?!?

I'm looking for a replacement to post up. Strip > Downtown > Off-Strip (and there, preference for Strip-proximate like Ellis Island or Silver Sevens). Places I've somewhat liked in the past include:

-bars at Gold Coast w/FP Jacks
-Tuscany (though my experience was limited and good games may be dead; need to review on VPFREE2 a bit)
-possibility: 4 Queens (though the game that excites me is the 99.98% game... not too rich for my blood at all, but I don't want Baby Dick W2-Gs to deal with).
-I liked the Mega Bar at Circa last time but forget if the Bonus Poker was FP 8/5... it may have been 7/5 or something, but I liked it and can outdrink/out-enjoy the -EV.

Based on that limited set of data, any thoughts on what I'd like?

    Dan

Mega bar definitely does not have full pay BP or any VP. The only Stevens bar with true full pay is the 8/5 at Vue

    Did you try plaza's bars?

If you want Strip, it's not going to be full pay. I encourage you to peruse through the bartop listings at VPFree2 if you're thinking of places like EI, Silver Sevens, etc

a decent alternative may be the vue bar at the D
they offer 25c 8/5 bp with a 3 way progressive
a decent amount of play will give you comp rooms
their sister property, the GOLDEN GATE has the 25c 8/5 bp with the 3 way progressive tied in

Overall I would say D's Vue Bar. The 8/5 Bonus game is probably near 100% on average after the progressive meters.

I agree. And since the OP likes JOB best, the strategy and volatility is almost the same

Plaza has 9/6 JoB, don't they, at their bars?

Did the 777 Brew Pub close for good? I LOVED their food!

I know Strip is out for FP… I may work in some 50 cent multi line FP JOB at Cosmo and play lower pay VP at the Chandelier Bar slowly when I wanna people watch and drink hoity toity stuff.

The D and Golden Gate seem (from VMB reviews) a little “shitty casino”/lowbrow/disheveled for me. Note: I’m not a classy l’il bitch; I stayed at Bally’s this weekend (though get comped at Caesar’s too and generally prefer it).

Will establishing at the D/Golden Gate get me teasers for Circa?

Now you’re speaking my language! I like playing games damn near perfectly but don’t currently have the intellectual curiosity to commit significantly different games to memory TBH.

I’m into that. I wonder what the feel of the Plaza is like vs 3-5 years ago when I went to Vegas more. Has Fremont Street’s… uhh… resurgence(?) affected the Plaza? (Note: I don’t love all the CBD shops and (often) shitty busking/acts and noise all the time)

No, it’s open but my best understanding is limited hours, offerings, and diminished ambiance.

It’s weird going by a place and having memories gone/dead. Kinda like going to Toys ‘R Us as an adult or the “Toto, we’re not going back to Kansas” concept.

Everything evolves/changes- I feel like Millenials (who are my primary market as a Realtor) love systems/auto mix Aroon AND concierge service, so I’m hoping the old school personal touch of Vegas doesn’t disappear.

I’m gonna go cry and pour out a little liquor for Bob Stupak, Howard Hughes and Benny Binion.

When I was there in October, they had at least one with 9/6 JOB. There may have been more, but I just plopped down at the first one I saw and played for a bit. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention to where I was in the place, but it was on the back side of the bar.

I saw on the MSS website that 777 has restricted hours, but nothing about BHB. What has changed there?

No 9/6 JoB is available, so the bar's traffic is down significantly. I also believe DDB for quarters moved down to 8/5.

I don't understand why OP said RIP BHB. It's up and running as usual.
I see many bars always having far less traffic than BHB, and they are still in business.

    Up&running Not sure.
Many a trip 3-8 years ago I had to circle the bar at least twice a trip to find a seat. And I recall once getting in (maybe for the sb) really late (10ish) to the BHB. Robert was the bar back. He spotted me on the prowl and said “sit down here” pointing to the end of the bar. No machine at the seat. “What can I get ya?” Give me a space dust if you e got it. “Just one?” he laughed. And brought me 2. “I’ll find ya a seat”. And off he went.
He comes back in 30 seconds or less and had ‘escorted’ someone from a machine. I told him I still owed for the 2 dusts of space. He said “Naw, just tip it out” with a wink.
That’ll never be back. And if you hadn’t the opportunity to have experienced the homey feeling at BHB……I’m sorry.. we’ve all missed something somewhere…..

Good question... I said "RIP" because it's dead to me. :)

I just changed the title to : RIP Boar's Head Bar Full Pay VP (MSS)/most suitable replacement?

    Hopefully this clarifies the topic.
