Just touched down and waiting on a gate.
It was a thankfully smooth flight and I’m cool if we have to wait a bit for a gate as long as we are safe on the ground.
Have I mentioned I’m not a great flier??

That final approach to Vegas still ranks up there around first place for me as the best part of any Vegas trip! May the gambling gods shine upon you!

A great idea to make this trip before starting a new one. Best of luck to you and hope you win big.

Blurry images of the Lyft ride here.
Uber wanted fifty bucks but Lyft was only $17.00...seemed like a no brainer to me

Went downstairs briefly as the money flew out of my purse faster than I would have liked.
Hit a couple of small wins to make the loss not as bad but I decided I was too tired to be losing money this fast. I decided to come up to bed and start fresh in the morning... well, later this morning.
No food in this place open after ten as far as I can tell. Good thing I packed some snacks. I'm having a balanced dinner of turkey jerky, Belvida and a protein bar. Breakfast of champions!
Tomorrow the plan is to walk down the street to the Walgreens to get some provisions and then hit the casino to see if I have any better luck in the light of day.
All in all, still very happy to be here and ready to get this party started... after a good sleep.

    Good morning beautiful people.
I am running on four hours sleep this morning. I was back up in the room by two but I wasn't able to get to sleep right away. It's not often that I am in a strange bed without my husband so it took a bit to get to snoozing last night. I'm not saying that I'm afraid of the boogeyman, but I did sleep with the bathroom light on last night.:haha:
I realized that I took video of the room last night when it was still in good shape, but forgot to take pictures. I'm sure you all have imaginations so please enjoy these pictures and imagine that the room is still clean.
    IMG_2907.jpg IMG_2908.JPG IMG_2909.JPG IMG_2910.JPG IMG_2912.JPG IMG_2913.JPG IMG_2914.JPG IMG_2915.JPG IMG_2916.JPG IMG_2917.JPG IMG_2918.JPG IMG_2919.JPG

I've been down to Starbucks because I woke up feeling a bit queasy this morning. Turns out my dinner of snacks was NOT in fact the breakfast of champions and my body was demanding actual food. A quick latte and breakfast sandwich later and I'm feeling much better. I took a small stroll to find the gym. It's pretty tiny, but there were only two people in there working out so that is promising. I've recently lost 40 lbs and I kinda want to keep the momentum going while out here. I'm not planning on losing weight in Vegas, because that's just crazy talk, but I am hoping to at least not gain the usual ten pounds that I put on in a week in my happy place.
Alright, time to take a walk to Walgreens and see what I can find.
    Happy Tuesday y'all!!

The room provides a very nice view of the mountains! Can you see the sunrise or sunset at all, or, just the color in the sky?

Hopefully the rest of your day is awesome!

They did indeed. However at those prices, and the fact that it was just a one hour flight, I decided to pass. As did most of the plane. It was probably the sleepiest flight I have ever taken to Vegas...less than half full too.

Thanks Mike! It's pretty boring right now but I'm sure the adventures will pick up once Rob joins me.

Thank you!! Yes, if ever there was a "good" time to be unemployed and looking for work, this is it. :D

    Thanks!!

I bet if I put it on my resume and got hired because of that I would REALLY enjoy that job. :haha::haha: Thanks for the well wishes!!

    Thank you!

Thanks, hopefully the luck improves from here.

Thanks Luck! I'll be in touch for sure, you're gonna get sick of me. :haha::haha:

And that is really all I could ask for...well that and a huge jackpot! Thanks, your well wishes worked because the flight was EARLY and the room is clean. Well, for a Rio room anyway. :haha::haha:

    Thanks Julia, I hope so!!

Thanks, that would be so amazing. I'm not QUITE foolish enough to bet my whole severance in hopes of extending my time off, but a gal can dream can't she?

    Thank you!!!

Thanks Erica, from your lips to God's ears. :)

Thanks man, I hope I don't disappoint. But just in case, prepare to be disappointed okay? :haha:

Thank you. I really hope so. I would love to have a job that I don't dread getting up for every morning. I'm not sure I've ever had one of those... :D

Thanks, your wishes worked for the no delay part, let's hope they work for the rest. :D

    Thanks Tring!!

I think I was on the wrong side to get the really good views, also had a partially obstructed view by the wing, but I agree that there is never a bad view of a decent into the promised land.

Thank you! I've taken an abundance of trips in the last couple months but none of them really fun (family stuff) so this has been much anticipated.

The view of the mountains is really nice. I have yet to be here or awake to see either the sunrise or sunset, but I will keep you posted when I do see it. :)

Thanks Luck. I also brought my laptop to do some "home" workouts in the room if I don't feel like going downstairs, which I don't right now, so I think I'm going to fire one up.

Just back from Walgreens and it is a very quick walk. I was hoping it would count as my exercise for the day but no dice. :haha::haha: Not even a block up the street and an easy cross of two major intersections - boom, you are there. I think they are overpriced but I think that of all the convenient stores around major hotels. Got a sandwich and a salad for those late nights I forget to grab something before everything closes up at the stroke of ten PM. I don't want another night of eating snack food like last night/this morning. Also got some water and more snacks for the munchies but the most expensive stuff was shampoo/conditioner/face wash and moisturizer. All those things that were just a little too big to take on the plane whilst not checking a bag (though I forgot to remove my quart size bag of liquids from my backpack at security on the way in and it wasn't stopped :hmmm:).
I think I'm going to grab a workout and a shower and then head down to see if I can find any luck. I will probably stay close to home base, although a trip over to Gold Coast wouldn't be out of the question.
The real casino hopping will start when we move to the strip next week.
    Cheers!

Some airports have newer xray machines that don't require removing your liquids. Could be the case.

Not a lot of success, but enough to keep me playing for a bit. Nothing really picture worthy.
I found an old school Goldfish machine. I've mentioned this more than once in my trip reports but the Goldfish game was my mom's absolute favorite. I'm not sure how old the game is but I feel like she had been playing it at least 15 years ago...maybe more. She just LOVED it.
Once I was able to retrieve her ashes from Maine last year I put some of them in a necklace that I wear often to keep her with me. That might be a little creepy for some, but it gives me solace. I was so mad at myself last night when I realized I had left the necklace at home. I texted Hubs and he immediately retrieved it and put it in his suitcase, so she WILL be joining us for the trip, just a little later.
Anyhoo, I found one of the machines she used to love, and it gave me a couple bonuses. It made me feel happy, like she was watching over me ... not enough apparently to give her baby girl any REAL luck, but beggars can't be choosers right? :haha::haha::haha:
    IMG_2949.JPG IMG_2951.JPG IMG_2953.JPG

I filmed a couple of fish food bonus videos that I'll upload to youtube tomorrow and post them.

Then I saw the KISS car.
    IMG_2955.JPG IMG_2954.JPG IMG_2956.JPG
The sign about not sitting on the tongue gave me the giggles.

I just finished eating a nondescript pita sandwich I got from Walgreens earlier today and I'm getting ready to watch some TV and hit the hay. I only got about four hours of sleep this morning and it's hitting me very hard right about now. Plus, I already blew today's budget and this is a longer trip than I'm used to so I think I need to keep it reined in ... at least until the hubs gets here.

I took this pic for my hubs because he has a really bad sweet tooth and I wanted to let him know this was on the way to our hotel tower should he be worried about a lack of sweets in our room when he gets here.
    IMG_2957.JPG
And finally, I just got this text from the CET robot:
    IMG_2958.JPG
Doesn't effect me, but thought I would put it out there for public knowledge.
Hope you all are having a wonderful night and I'll see you bright and shiny (hopefully) in the morning!!

Have a great time! I miss that Rio neighborhood and I'm happy to see that enormous signage on the side of the Palms is still going. I know the Rio is beat to hell but I love those big rooms and floor to ceiling windows. Is the Voodoo lounge open in any form? I never bothered with the restaurant but I did like the club.

Good luck with the job search. It's a searchers market so you'll do great!

Agree … stayed there years ago and the size of those rooms is nice. But still REALLY miss that Rio seafood buffet.

    Win big … good luck!!!

Yup. That was the case on my aborted trip in December. They said to leave everything in the backpack and to just remove items from pockets and take off shoes. Super fast screening.
