    My Trip Report

Finally writing my first trip report and starting in Atlantis to get a feel for it before the Vegas trip for the new year. This board feels like family (and can be crazy like my family so there that) and I hope to pay it forward with this report and some useful information (though I am realizing I already forgot to take photos of my drinks and (very small) wins.

Flight left DMV this morning at 9:20, landed at 12 and was at Atlantis by 12:45. We are lucky enough to be A list on SW and sat in the second row so we could get off plane quickly and be first at customs. I had contacted several ride services before we left and Jeromes taxi service was the cheapest ($42 plus we gave him an $8 tip).

Checked in and woman told me we were scheduled for a harbor room view and I was like “um, no reservation says water (ocean) view.” She said she would see what she could do and gave us 9th floor but room would not be ready until 4. No problem, there is a casino here! Famous last words. WOW. The slots were tight. Got $75 free play as part of the CET room diamond room promo which lasted about 10 minutes if even that. Three $100 into the machine, dropped bet to 50 cents and managed to make that last a little longer. Went back around 3 to see if room was ready, it was not. Happened to ask if our room was one of the remodeled ones and it was not. I had heard the remodeled rooms were much better so asked if we could switch. The woman said there were no kind beds but if we could do queen she had something available on the 16th floor. Score! Room is great (will take a photo tomorrow when it’s light outside), below is a picture of the view from earlier. Spend the evening exploring Atlantis and slotting around. Slots did not give me anything but they took my money more slowly and that’s a win in my book! We had eaten a big breakfast so for late lunch/dinner just split - burger, fries and a beer at the burger. Food prices on the menu seem reasonable (I had heard they were astronomical) then we got the bill and we were like “oh yeah, it’s like another 30-40% with all the taxes and stuff.” So that burger, fries and beer was $28. But it was for two of us so no problem.

One last thing before I call it a night - the drinks in the casino can take a long time to come but they are good and they give you a good amount. I got a Bahama mama in a tall glass and a Baileys on the rocks in a whiskey glass that was filled to the brim. It was delicious!

I went here in August for 5 days, I was given a comp room direct by Atlantis, I gambled every night on tables and slots (over 6 hours each night), lost over $17k, spoke to a casino host to see if I could get some back end comps to cover my $1k room charges (food and room fees etc), I was told that I had not played enough / lost enough to earn ANY back end comps, apparently my play only covered the cost of the comp room for 5 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will never be returning - good luck!

You said Atlantis. I thought Reno.
You said customs. I thought, huh?
You said Ocean View. I thought, double huh?
You said CET offer and it finally clicked. Beautiful place. Enjoy and I hope the gambling turns around!

I hardly gambled but lost what I did. I remember the buffet being outrageous. Something like $230 for 3 adults and 1 child and some ridiculous up-charge for kids over 12 years old I think.

I love it there - but you have to know going in that food cost is gonna be outrageous

While you're there I suggest seeking some conch fritters if you want to go off-property. I think we ate them at Viola's but it was a while ago. Very spicy! Very good.

Good morning Nassau! It’s a beautiful day and we are about to walk the mile and a half so into town (hey that’s like walking the strip right?) to grab some breakfast. A few photos from the room and the bath products. Before we left I was searching for bath product info - I wanted specifically to know if they had conditioner (so many hotels have started to use two in one shampoo which does not work for me) and they do. They also have a legit coffee maker with tea and gave us two very nice water bottled at checkin. There is a water station on every floor to fill it up. This is a really nice touch. Also, as a side note I have realized that trip reports will most likely be good for our marriage as I get ready quicker than my husband and am usually waiting impatiently for him to be done. Now I can post updates as I am waiting!

May I ask what tower are you staying at? Looking to go on late February, it would be our third trip, stayed on the Royal Tower both times. I found they are much better with upfront than backend comps and I agree food pricing is mind blowing. Love the place, but service lags overall. Enjoy!

We are in the Royal East tower. Housekeeping let me sneak into the room across the hall (thats the harbor view side) and take a photo which is below. That view is a lot better than I thought it would be, probably because it’s high up. The renovated floor also seem to be a lot better. As for service, I grew up on an island so am used to the laid back, you’ll get it when you get it attitude. :)

Lovely walk over the bridge in 75 degree weather. Found a grocery store (I love going into grocery stores in foreign countries to check them out!), items were pretty standard to what we have in the US and prices were, for the most part, comparable to Hawaii prices (where I am originally from and where I return to almost yearly). So the $6.99 for a gallon of milk seemed reasonable though I was a bit shocked at the cranberry juice and creamer! Random photos from the walk and grocery stores below. 15CB1AE3-78AA-439D-801A-D81436E53EA4.jpeg 7B3E1809-86A9-4493-BBCC-1E6BC24A7EEE.jpeg 4CD3DB93-B3BF-41C4-91B3-86773C087BE4.jpeg C387CB09-55D7-407E-A179-86A28D9DDFFD.jpeg 46539657-B64C-49C1-B200-C7FF852F7E78.jpeg 60B80E8B-341E-4D3D-BF2D-8A34DF7407C7.jpeg 0DE6C67E-E244-4F3B-ABAE-0C4F359DD2BD.jpeg

Almost forgot - we also stopped by a liquor store and got these. $16 for 5 beers. I am always amazed how a $100 can slide into a slot machine so easily and I don’t even blink an eye but if someone asks me to pay $5 for a bottle of water or $10 for a beer, I about have a heart attack. Thanks for the TR!

I did the walk over the bridge in 2019. Quite a walk (esp. for someone who's afraid of heights) but totally worth it to get to places without resort prices.

Are the daily slot tournaments back?

My husband only plays craps and I almost exclusively play slots (with the occasional foray into craps with the hubby). Craps tables start at $15 here but there are a LOT of people betting black chips all over the place. Though neither of us are way ahead at the moment, he has been at the table for four hours and is currently ahead while I have been slotting around for the same time and am only down $25, which I consider a major win. Slots seem much better tonight (they always do when you can stay close to even!). 39E9A686-8927-4E14-BEA0-51C47F6C4602.jpeg

Sounds like you are doing fairly well.
Glad you got moved to a better room, but was it what you booked?

Only time we visited there was a day trip from cruises....
Visited the casino on those days, it was too tight for my liking & haven't been back.

Wish you lotta luck. Hope you clean em out. :D

( I also thought you were talking about Atlantis in Reno! til I read your report)

So here’s the odd thing - my reservation says “royal tower water view.” But when we checked in she said we had the harbor view not the ocean view. I told her the reservation said water view from which I thought was the ocean view. I may have been wrong but we got the ocean view and I am glad we did! I should also probably change the title in my post - I did not even know there was an Atlantis casino in reno though I do now!

So I probably should have headed back up after my earlier post when I was almost even but did I? I think, dear reader, you already know the answer. :) I actually ended up joining my husband at craps for awhile as the table was only $10 (on a Saturday night! There were 5 other tables with higher limits though). Bad idea. Lost a little money then thought I would play a little slots to hopefully break back even but it was a no go. Still within my daily budget though so, again, thats a win! Tomorrow will be more pool/beach time, a nice dinner at NOBU and, of course, more gambling!

Hello again. We are up at 9 am for our COVID test to return to the US and the line is a bit long. This is the first time we have been out of the country since January 2020 and we were expecting a bit of leg work but it was not too bad (and comparable to when we went to Hawai’i last Christmas to see my family. Thankfully though, unlike that trip, to get to the Bahamas we could take a COVID test anywhere up to 5 days before arrival (when we went to Hawai’i last year you could only take the test at an approved State of Hawai’i health provider three days before your arrival which meant that, even though we live in a major metropolitan area, we had to drive 40 minutes to some town in Maryland that I had never heard of and fork over $140 each in order to get the tests done in time). Once we had the results of the test, we applied for the required Bahamian health visa/mandatory insurance ($40 each), and uploaded the results, our vaccination cards, and passports on their website. It was pretty easy except the passport jpeg site was bigger than their max (25mb) so I had to figure out how to resize it which was a little bit time consuming (may be easier for some people but took me 20 minutes!).

We need a COVID test to return to the US and Atlantis provides those and remind you to schedule an appointment (and tells you when you should) when you check in. It’s also on the weekly guide kf events. Overall it seems pretty straightforward though we will see how long it takes us to get through this line! (Which is now twice as long as when we got into it 10 minutes ago.)

My wife and I were there 2 weeks ago and the line moves fairly quickly. We were in the Royal Harbor Ocean View on the 18th floor and were lucky enough to get a walk out balcony. If you plan on eating at sit down restaurants such as Olives or Carmines in the village I definitely recommend trying to make reservations.

Took us a little less than 30 min from start to finish to get tested and already got the results back! Afterwards, we had a total scare as our neighbor texted us that one of our windows was open. I KNOW all the windows were shut when we left so I had a friend go check it out. Turns out the window has one of those features where it can fold down and in (for cleaning?) and they say it was very windy yesterday so it must have blown in. Whew! We were seriously worried for a moment that we would come home to a ransacked house. We will need to check the window latches and possibly replace the window when we get back but that certainly beats the alternative! With that out of the way my husband went upstairs to nap (unlike me he can put away a few drinks and did so last night at the craps table), while I went to play with less than excellent results. Sadly my phone was dying so he brought it upstairs to charge which is why I have no photos of my incredibly marginal wins (I think my best was $30 and the work $3.42 on bonus at $1 bets) or the dauly slot tournament (with free entry) where I placed a dismal 5th out of 6th. I don’t know why more people did not sign up (1st place was $100, 2nd $50, 3rd $25 and everyone else got $10 fir participating) though I will say my arm still hurts from hitting the buttons so fast. Is there some trick to these tournaments? I have done another one once before on a cruise (with similar dismal results) and my arm hurt then too!
