I am finally coming back to Vegas after almost 2 years. I was wondering how is it on the Strip in the casinos around NY NY. Is the slots area socially distanced? I had heard some casinos are not allowing smoking. How is eating are the buffets open? Anyway thanks everybody in advance and I hope I am not repeating what has already been asked and answered.

Slots are not distanced. Smoking is allowed except at ParkMGM, and to an extent at Cosmo, which technically only allows it while playing and at certain bars. Only some buffets are open and many have limited hours so you have to check; with buffets and in general, do not put complete faith in websites or online reservation systems.

There is only a mask mandate, no social distancing.
Some buffets are open, majority are still closed or will not reopen.
Park MGM is the only non smoking casino on the Strip, though some casinos do have non-smoking areas.

There is a thread that has updates on what is happening lately. One of them talks about the status of mask wearing "rules" and what is actually happening on the ground.

You will also see differing reports based on weekend vs weekday, and of course football weekends.

Lots of trip reports will help as well.

Getting closer to "normal" for sure.

Beware of scooter brigades. It was rampant in the summer of 2020, then eased up earlier this year, but they were back with a vengeance when we were there in July and October. Lots of groups of people using mobility scooters because they are too dang lazy to walk. I am totally sympathetic to those that truly need them but the groups we've encountered did not need them.

This is the first time I’ve seen someone else mention it, but I agree 100%. Full families and groups rolling along sidewalks and through casinos. I know you’re not supposed to question people in scooters because physical disabilities aren’t always visible, but there were obvious cases of misuse.

Sad to hear the scooter brigades are making a return, I'd thought the situation had kind of resolved itself with many rideshare drivers returning and most of the public transportation becoming more operational. When I visited in June I didn't see any at all. Will be there next month and planning to do quite a bit of exploring with a first timer and friends wanting to see the xmas decorations, fingers crossed for smooth sailing on the streets and not being run over by a scooter going down an escalator! :biker:

I have not seen any recently, either. The groups who stand in front of doors or escalators are the ones who bother me.

I haven't seen any large groups of scooters in over a year. I suspect the recent sightings are exceptions to the current norm

I only observed one scooter "brigade" in October. It was a gang of 3. Not too impactful. lol

We had a group of 8 of them outside our room at PHo last month. I kept hearing all this loud talking outside our door. I walked out and saw 8 of them lined up along the hallway. The people that ended up on those scooters were walking around just fine. I watched them all walk to their scooters and zip down the hall, I saw them all weekend in the casino.

Fair enough. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not saying it never happens anymore, rather that I haven't personally seen it in quite some time (and I'm on casino floors and on the Strip a *lot*). That definitely sounds incredibly annoying though, @Sparky4.

I didn't see that July, August or September trips.

driver told me scooter rental companies imposed $1500.00 security deposit and rentals plummeted.

They were quite the nuisance Summer 2020 when Vegas reopened.

I encountered a group of four scooter gang at Luxor in Oct. The most annoying and reckless group I ever seen. They ran like 40 mph from the front door all the way to the East Tower elevators, took the elevator one by one, then ran crazy to their rooms. I happened to be on the same floor, witnessed then several times. All 20 year old youths. I saw a couple of people almost knocked off by them.

I didn't see any scooters in February this year but the previous year it was crazy. All young people and going at full speed. Plus they would pull up in the slots with no seats meant to distance people and seen em banging into things.

MLife banned some of the companies from dropping them at hotels for a while, as I couldn't get one delivered for a trip that I cancelled, unless I was at a CET or non MLife property first.

Not a problem now, because the idiots just careering around on them are obviously back in the minority, thankfully.
