Oh, DUDES. I scored on shopping today!

The plan was to find a new nightstand for my room, a sound bar for my TV that didn't cost $215, andddd get a console for the living room. Patio furniture, since I actually have a wonderful view and plenty of room, was a pipe dream.

First score: Best Buy. Early Black Friday deal:
Got this LG soundbar for half off, retailing at $300, but I got it for $149!!
    20211121_160603.jpg

Then, we cruised over to World Market, cause it's fucking World Market.

We loomed at some rad chairs and some rad other things, and then! Then! We found this clearance section that was hidden. There was a sturdy grey side table on sale for $49.99. Normally priced at $200!
    20211121_121354.jpg
    20211121_121402.jpg
    Shit, better buy it.

    20211121_162618.jpg
    Cat-approved, clearly I made a good choice.

    20211121_143743.jpg

Then we cruised to Lowe's, but on the way we saw Big Lots. One thing I've noticed out here - all the stores are fucking huge compared to SoCal! Especially LA, our Big Lots, Home Depot and Lowe's were small. Out here, the stores are larger, and vastly improved selection!

Yesterday we were at Lowe's and I fell in love with a patio set, but today, we went to a different Lowe's that had other things. We found some bitchin rocking chairs for a good price, that were better than the set I saw previously! They look great on my patio - just need a little table.
    20211121_161042.jpg

    20211121_161020.jpg

Then, we saw a electric fireplace TV console at Lowe's, similar grey color, but more asthetically pleasing, and for $50 less than Big Lots (on sale for $199). Snatched that sucker right up.

M was kind enough to throw the fireplace up my flight of stairs into my apt, and we have not assembled it yet. But it's gonna be fucking greeeaaaatttt.
    20211121_160546.jpg

This was my best find of the day though, at Goodwill. It will complement my kitty pics on the wall.

Place looks great! A soundbar was one of the best purchases I made.

"Bitchin rocking chairs" is a new one...

Cat socks in Vegas! Good morning VMB!

Even though it's Monday, figured it could be a day of rest for M ;) We plan on day drinking and eating all the food in town! Or maybe I'll just eat all the food. It'll be greaaaat!

At some point I gotta stop at my place and make sure Jackson hasn't opened every single cabinet door in the house....

That looks similar to a piece I got at Big Lots recently. If betting was allowed on VMB I'd set the over/under for assembly at 3 hours and then take the over.

We were seated quickly, our server Ver is funny and nice, and we got our beverages quickly also!

    When in Vegas, we feast!
    20211122_102955.jpg

First sm round for me: amazing beer can chicken with a spicy mop sauce, a riff on Eggs in Purgatory, and of course, Angry Mac (goes great with the mop sauce!!!).

Oooh man this food is so good. I'm still eating.
Chicken mountain from earlier - YUM

    Round 2:
    20211122_105810.jpg

Vegetable samosa was tasty! Just like what I've had at some East African restaurants. The mango chutney was insane and so so good. I love mango, but it had a spicy kick like maybe an addition of ginger?! SO GOOD! Eat ITTTT.
    20211122_105418.jpg
    20211122_105423.jpg

Of course this San Diego kid had to get tacos and guacamole...I always do. The carnitas weren't out of this world, but they were good compared to your run-of-the-mill tacos in the world. And I mean shit, if you fuck up braised pork, you should rot in a hole. Man, I love pork.
    20211122_105446.jpg

    20211122_105442.jpg

The guac was delicious. A simple blend of sm dice red onion, cilantro, lime juice, and quality avocado, garnished with a corn relish. Sign me the fuck up, I'll take 5.

These mimosas are fucking delicious friends! Perfect balance of sweetness from the OJ and bubbles. I spent like, I don't know, too long talking to M and less time eating.

The people next to us are talking about $0.29 coupons "like at Albertsons"? Uh hello, get the Albertson's app! You get freebies and coupons all the time! The Vons program is called Just4U and they send me free stuff like weekly! It's great! /endannouncement

My mom just called to coordinate after-Thanksgiving shenanigans. Having divorced parents as a grown-up can be a pain in the ass, but I'll make it work! I think we're gonna do shopping and grab a nice dinner before I fly away.

Stole some of M's chia seed pudding earlier (IT IS GOOD and good for you goddamnit!), so I went back and got more:

I told myself I didn't need more chicken but, survey says that was a lie.
    20211122_113448.jpg

Also tuna crudo was so fresh and good! The blood orange honey with Pistachio and the thyme was excellent, everyone played well together.

Excellent choice of face masks. Also, get the Smith's app, too.

What did they do with the chicken? I see some sauce, but was it just grilled, or for they do something else?

Imagine my dismay when, after finishing that last plate, I made a fuckin' beeline to the cold bar for more Chia Seed Puddings of Joy (x2!), only to find that they had been replaced by pfft, the Shrimp Cocktail Invasion of '21. Rude.
    20211122_115210.jpg

But I got this delightful salad, the arugula and the apple cider vinegrette (how the hell do you spell that?!) played very well together.
    20211122_115149.jpg

    20211122_115155.jpg

I also love the Mason jar salad thing. Totally ranted to M about that hahaha.

Salad + cheese course before the dessert finale.

    The dessert finale!

First up, Oreo mousse. Hello. Glad I grabbed two, fucking amazing!
    20211122_121723.jpg

    20211122_121729.jpg

Some Oreo strategically fell into my Molten Chocolate Cake, guess that's next....
    20211122_121803.jpg
    20211122_121800.jpg

As we moved onto the tropical fruit section of our dessert course.... if you like a taste of the tropics, straight up, I highly recommend The Mango Thing. It's so so good. Creamy, fruity, with that tropical kick that you can't get from straight mango. Whatever the crunchy topping is on top? It's delightful. Great crunch and a nice pop of flavor (what flavor? I'm too inebriated to describe).
    20211122_121645.jpg
    20211122_121649.jpg

The next lil cake was a trip to Asia, and it was a different kind of tropical. The green tea and the Yuzu layer were fantastic.
    20211122_121556.jpg

    20211122_121606.jpg

20211122_123535.jpg I can appreciate the artistic touch of the white chocolate garnish too, thank you BoH pastry chefs!!!

The coconut panna cotta was good. As I was wrapping up my meal, with a mimosa and a half to go, I thought, "It's just panna cotta, I can have it another time," - but the inclusion of coconut milk takes it to another level. I assume it helps with the gelatin too, because the texture was perfect. The addition of vanilla beans (I see you, specs that aren't black pepper!) is welcome and adds an overall warmness to the dish. The berries were a nice touch that added to the lightness of it overall.

    20211122_121853.jpg

    20211122_121857.jpg
Cone party tasted like a chocolate orange whaaaat

    20211122_121933.jpg
Also a fabulous presentation here, with a pronounced coffee flavor. Again, applause to the BoH pastry team. This shit doesn't just "appear".
    20211122_121930.jpg
    20211122_122247.jpg

    20211122_122138.jpg

    20211122_122651.jpg
Yum it's lava cake, tasted like flourless though, nice and light
    20211122_124914.jpg

    20211122_124907.jpg
    The magical spoon! It's fabulous.

Now, one and a half additional mimosas later, I'm slapping on some headphones and am outta here!
    20211122_124856.jpg

Fuck all you suckassssss we got there at a good time.
