Getting to Vegas from Canada

Aeroplan and switch health just came out with test kits you can order:

It appears that the $149 RT-Lamp kit is one you could buy here, take with you on vacation, and do there. Apparently you need a data connection as you must complete it over a video call, after which presumably switch health will give you documentation to return.

One more option for the arsenal. Handy for those without rental car who don't want to pay the Reviv ransom. And cheaper than a shoppers PCR so I may look into this for my Buffalo day trip if I do it and rules dont change.

 

And a $40 rapid antigen test for those of us that don't live in AB or ON.

Who can come to Canada

Pre-entry test result requirements
All travellers 5 years of age or older, regardless of citizenship or vaccination status, must provide proof of a COVID-19 negative molecular test result to enter Canada or proof of a previous positive test result taken between 14 and 180 days.

Rapid antigen tests will not be accepted.

Accepted types of molecular tests
These tests are considered acceptable molecular tests:

• PCR - Polymerase chain reaction
• Nucleic acid test (NAT) or Nucleic acid amplification test (NAATs)
• Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP)

 

If this works and you really get your results in 45 min.. then that is awesome!.
Cheaper (US dollars) and you get results way faster.

If anyone tries it please let us know how the experience went.
I am still hoping they get rid of testing by my next trip in February but this could be a nice alternative if they don't

 

I would have loved to try the Switch health kit. We are traveling next Tuesday to Mexico for 10 days. I suppose I could go for the express shipping but the resort we are staying in does on site testing (135 USD each) so we will stick with that option for now. If anyone else goes this route for sure let us all know.

 

Where in MX will you be? We'll be just north of PV ... the cheapest test I can find is pushing $200 USD.

Did you know MGM properties in Vegas offer in room covid testing for travel by "Community Ambulance services". Our neighbours just returned form vegas to Canada and testing was arranged at front desk.jAppointment time arranged, testing with results within 45 minutes, ready to travel!!. They did not know if caesars offering same process. Cost was just over $200 USd per person. Sure saves a lot of hassle..

 

@vegasgolfgamble that was mentioned in this thread along the way. I am unsure if there was a firsthand account of the process though.

 

Word on the street is Orleans is charging $90 with a 24 hour turn around? I will try to find the link unless someone can beat me to it.

First post here has the list of recognized testing locations that are confirmed and links to them.
Anything else discussed is either not confirmed OR you have to "trick" the system by putting in an address that is not yours.

If the Switch Health is confirmed I think we should add it to the list.

Can confirm Work Sites lab at Orleans, $ 90.00 for 24 hour results, ours were back in 12 hours. Can drive thru or walk up. Great staff, area a little odd. Look for blue tent on street level of parking garage.

 

Has anyone tried using the Walmart tests in Ontario or Alberta for their pre-US test? The site has an icon that seems to indicate they’re suitable for flights, but it doesn’t give many details. They’re just under 20 bucks, so figure that might be a good option for people.
