    My Trip Report

Met up with some high school buddies to celebrate in the year we all turned 50.

I stayed at the Mirage on a 4 night comp with $250 Freeplay and $150 resort credit.

Win #1: first class upgrades from Delta. Great way to begin this trip!

Got to Mirage around 11:45pm to check in. They were oversold and didn’t have my Tower Deluxe room on the upper floors that was confirmed repeatedly prior to my trip. I got thrown in a 3rd floor room for the first night….which meant that I would have to change rooms the next day for the room I booked. They threw another $100 resort credit at me, but still a pain in the arse.

Hotel: Mirage has always been my home base. I love the location and vibe of it. The place is showing it’s age, but still clean. Rooms were clean, but still show their mileage a bit. The oversold screw job left a bad taste in my mouth and I might switch locations on the next trip.

I ate breakfast at the Pantry each day. Great fuel, and quick service. I had dinner at the Still twice. Again, great food and service (sat at the bar each time)

Gambling: not a good trip for me. I couldn’t find a hot shoe to save my butt, but no complaints on table minimums. I could always find a $15 table, and they had a few $10 tables on the weekday mornings. Slots were tight for me, no major wins there.

Now to my list of random observations, in no order.

    1. Crowd size. Decent, got real busy Friday and Saturday night. Never got overwhelming, though.
    2. Demographic. Last time I was there was mid-April. I would describe it then as a trailer park carnival….lack of respect, weed everywhere, scooter gangs, lots of trash. This visit: Cleaned up significantly, reflecting a more typical cross section of pre-covid. I saw 1 scooter gang, fewer bums, less weed…
    3. Masks. I know there is a separate thread for the topic. Masks were a joke. Inside, very little policing, unless you were at a table or VP bar. Half the people walking around inside were not wearing them as they were walking around. I post this observation for those your info, whether you are pro or anti mask. I don’t care which side you stand on, but either side may find it useful in planning their trip. Half of our group backed out of the trip because they didn’t want to deal with masks…they regret their choice after seeing our pics!
    4. Circa downtown. We went downtown one morning. Circa is a great place! Spacious, clean, sweet sportsbook…well done.
    5. Taxis. Never a long line at hotel or airport.
    6. LV Blvd escalators for crossovers. All up escalators were functional. Only 1 down escalator was out of service. That has never been the case on any of my trips.
    7. Sidewalk showgirls. Most of them didn’t belong in those outfits….I guess that the more you drink, the better they look….I clearly did not drink enough.
    8. Vibe. Vegas seems to be rebounding. Still some restaurants with limited hours, but energy is gaining. This is my third trip since covid hit, and I liked what I saw.

See you in March to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday!

With respect to #7, I refer to to the words of that great philosopher Blutto from "Animal House" - "My advice to you, is to start drinking heavily"!

Really appreciate your TR, I had been looking at mirage to possible switch to so this is helpful. Also love a right to the point TR without the unnecessary lead up (if I have to hear one more self-important “work is so busy” or “getting in a workout before the flight” lol).

I did have one question- did Mirage have 3:2 BJ at the $25 level that you happened to see by chance? If not, any intel insofar as the min for 3:2?

    Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the summary. I am not that bothered with Mirage (or any hotel) showing its age as long as it is *clean*, so am pleased to hear this about one of my favorite places to stay.

I didn’t play at $25 tables, but heard chatter that some tables there had 3:2

at Circa downtown, we hit a $15 table with 3:2 and no side gimmicks. Regular blackjack? It was great

How did you find the cocktail service at Mirage while playing? Last few trips I found it very lacking compared to my first trip to Mirage 2016.

Table service seemed to be better than slots, but decent overall

That is so true. Some people need to give us more useless information about their personal lives than necessary. Talk about Vegas please. No one cares about your workout regimen or job situation. Well said LB9. :nworthy:
