“As Fontainebleau Development moves forward with the project in Las Vegas, we feel it is important to make clear that, upon opening, the hotel will be managed and operated by Fontainebleau Development. The agreement with Marriott International was made with the building’s previous owner. We value our strong relationship with Marriott International including several successful collaborations – notably the JW Marriott Turnberry Isle Resort and Spa. Having come full circle and taken ownership of the site in Las Vegas, we intend to fulfill our original vision and deliver the same extraordinary hospitality experience that our guests have come to expect from Fontainebleau Development." - Statement from the FB Development in a press release.

Leak renderings shown FB Development has been teaming up with Jeffrey Beers International, Rockwell Group, and Lissoni & Partners behind the scenes for the past couple of months.

As they say, a "developing" story. Article was updated later with the Fontainebleau statement. It will still be interesting to see what changes keep occurring with this property.

This project is Exhibit A in why rumors from resort staff aren't worth the paper they're printed on. One of my best friends here is front-of-house at Aria, and for years upon years has been insisting to me that they're going to re-start construction "within the next couple months". I keep telling him that it's not going to happen; lo and behold, it does not happen.

After all this time, I will believe this is open when I actually see them getting close.

Sounds more to me like Marriott backed out and Fontainebleau are trying to make it sound like they booted them.

Any real evidence of them actually doing anything would mean a lot more at this point than more talk of plans.

Clearly it was bad reporting by VitalVegas/Las Vegas Locally when they found out an outdated website by the Marriott that's been sitting there when Witkoff still owned it, don't understand why this is news to anyone when Marriott isn't involved in the FB at all.

I didn't believe Resorts World would be finished until they started testing the video display on the side of the building, I won't believe Fontainebleau will ever be finished until they start taking reservations.

No, the Marriott deal carried over and Marriott announced it would be a JW Marriott after the sale, and now both parties says that Marriott has exited amicably. Whether that is Fontainebleau or Marriott making that call is up to interpretation.

Does this affect anything with Koch industries partnership? I'm not sure where they stand in all of this

I will believe this is open when I'm standing in the lobby.
I haven't seen anything indicating that it changes the Koch part. Marriott was primarily for branding and operations; Koch still owns the place.

Well the odds seemed stacked against this project ever coming together, but I hope somehow it does. I’m always in full support of new development on the strip. Anything to add competition and variety is a good thing.

There are still quite a few areas of the strip that I’d say have been left underdeveloped for too long. The area between MGM and PH is an abomination and the lot south of Tropicana has been screaming for a new resort. And even with Resorts World in place, anything north of the Fashion Show mall on the west or Encore on the east feels completely off-strip.

Based on location alone, I’m not surprised one bit that the City Center development pushed through during the worst of economic times while Resorts World was a maybe for years and Fontainebleau has been in development hell for a decade and a half. Those are tricky locations to make work because there is no chance of foot traffic. When my friend and I visited Vegas last month, we went full tourist going between all the strip hotels and didn’t even come close to venturing towards Resorts World. I hope one day Resorts World and Fontainebleau actually feel like part of the strip because they will have an uphill battle until they are fully connected to the strip on the south.

That thing will be imploded before anything is ever done. The economy is going sour and nobody has money to throw at something like the Fontainebleau. Can it sit there another ten years?
