    My Trip Report

I'm all packed and ready to go. My flight leaves at 9:30 tomorrow morning, and I should be hitting downtown around noon. I'm double booked into Fremont and The D again. Unless the D upgrades me to a Corner King room, I'll probably stay at Fremont despite the tiny bathrooms. A refrigerator goes a long way for me, and a 55 inch TV vs a 32 inch? C'mon...

    We'll see.

The shoulder pains from my trip last week are still plaguing me, but it's getting better so my outlook remains positive. I have no big plans this time around. I am sort of embarrassed to say that I'm doing this all over again for three nights next week, so I'm taking this trip as some Low Roller fun. A Reuben from Saginaw's will be happening, as will plenty of video poker. I can guarantee beer will be drunk and cocktails will be swilled. Beyond that, it's anybody's guess. I may try to go to the hypnotist show at Four Queens and I may try to go to Don't Tell Mama's in Neonopolis. I may do none of that.

I'm going to try and do a semi live report but probably will just take pictures as I go along and then upload everything in the evening.

    WORST. TRIP. REPORT. EVER.

So much for my attempt at a live report!

A lot of the trip was disjointed due to the pinched nerve and shoulder pain, so the idea of a live trip report just wasn't happening. I canceled next week's trip, but am going back in November, hopefully I'll be pain free by then! There wasn't a lot of gambling this trip because I just wasn't able to sit still long enough to do much.

    Monday

I got into downtown around 12:30pm on Monday. I got checked into the Fremont, and hit the casino. Within about 20 minutes I was up around $180 so I decided I was done there. I walked over to The D and checked into my room there. I went down to the casino and won around $200. Being up $380, I decided I was done gambling for the day and went walking.

Fremont was decorated for Halloween IMG_20211005_112002.jpg IMG_20211005_112121.jpg IMG_20211005_112214.jpg

There were hanging bodies scattered about, which I loved as it reminded me Fremont in the original The Stand miniseries.

    IMG_20211005_112040.jpg

I walked down to Evel Pie and got a slice and a pint for dinner. If you haven't been to Evel Pie, I suggest you go. It was one of the best slices I've had.

I was in pain so grabbed waters and headed in for the night.

    Tuesday

I woke up and was feeling pretty decent, so went over to Magnolia's at Four Queens for breakfast. It wasn't all that full, but there was a wait to get in and once seated I was told service would be a bit slow. It was okay though, not a real long wait and they were doing their best. As there were empty tables I'm guessing this had more to do with staffing issues. The wait wasn't that long and restaurant staffing in general seemed to be getting better.

I've realized steak and eggs are a Vegas tradition for me, and this time I got them at Magnolia's.

After breakfast I wandered around Fremont a bit looking at decorations and taking the pics of them above. I was starting to get sore again so I headed back to The D to play a bit.

I played off the same $100 coin in at several machines, not doing much but also not losing much. I then went to my old friend, the Quick Hits machine. This is part of a quad near Sigma Derby. This is the same machine that kept paying off the progressives for me back in June (you can find pics in my trip report back then). It didn't let me down this time either. I hit a $193 progressive and had several 'biggish' wins. I walked away from the machine with about $278.

Cocktail service wasn't that great at this point, and the chair not all that comfortable. I didn't want to go back to the room, so I spent the rest of the day in the Keno lounge, sitting in a big comfortable booth with great cocktail service. While I just ordered a Corona, the waitress brought me a shot of Knob Creek with a Corona back. A couple of those, the booth, the shoulder was doing okay :)

    IMG_20211005_112710.jpg IMG_20211005_142913.jpg

I think I was the youngest person there, and that's saying something! I ended up playing 90 games at $1 a game. This took most of the afternoon. I won $1 on the first game, and $1 on the last game, with nothing in between.

I had planned on playing a lot of video poker this trip, but I just wasn't able to sit in one place long enough to do that. I played a little here and there, but nothing for very long. The beers were wearing off, so I grabbed some Coney Island and went back to my room for another early night.

    Wednesday

This was the day I was leaving, I'd leave for my flight around 3pm. I was in some pretty decent discomfort this morning, so I went down and got a coffee at the coffee stand at the D, then went back to my room. I was able to get a late check out (1pm) so I just took it easy, drank coffee and read the news. Not all that exciting but it was relaxing. After check out I walked across the street to Fremont and had a club sandwich at the 2nd Street Grill. When I was here in June I walked out after sitting at a table for over 30 minutes, but it wasn't as bad this time. Like Magnolia's, I was told it would be an extra minute and there were empty tables. I really didn't wait that long for service at all. It seems like even though there are some staffing issues still the restaurants are doing a better job of managing it. No pics, it was a club sandwich with coleslaw. It was decent.

After lunch I played a few slots at Fremont and again did decently.

I ended up coming home with an extra $300 in my pocket, so I'll call the trip a success. This was just going to be a low roller quick 2 night trip, so even with the pain, it didn't really bother me that much. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I had a 3 night trip planned for next week but I canceled it due to not wanting to be there and deal with the shoulder pain again. My next trip is 3 nights in mid-November, and hopefully I'll be at full power then.

    Thanks for reading!

Sorry for the pain - at least you left a winner! Which Quick Hits machine of the 4 do you like at the D?

With your back to the wall, the machine on the right is the one I always have luck at. I've seen the machine next to it pay off really well, but it's never paid off for me.

Thanks for the report! I love the keno story with the bonus shot, gives me hope. Sometimes I am at an in between where I don’t want to gamble seriously, don’t want the room, want to drink but don’t want to sit at a bar and potentially socialize either. Some live keno may be in my future!

    Nice write up!

But you actually lost 88 of 90 keno games? I don't want to imagine the odds of that.

Yeah, tell me about it! I did lose 88 out of 90. Sad, right? They did assuage my losses with bourbon with beer backs though, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
