    My Trip Report

how long: 2 nights, short and hopefully sweet. after vegas we are going to phoenix for the weekend and going to the 49ers/Cardinals game on Sunday.

who: my wife Brandy and I. I'm dropping Maggie off tonight at my parents and then going to my jiu jitsu class.

She is going to be miserable for the next 6 days having to get walked multiple times a day. she is old and blind/deaf and usually enjoys sleeping all day and licking my wife at night. I'm talking about Maggie not me.

where: well vegas duh, but staying at the Plaza.

how: jetblue i think. i can never remember till my wife asks what gate as we drive to the airport and I have to check my phone.

why: I freakin work too much (thanks covid) and we needed a vacation. close to our 5 year wedding anniversary as well.

what: BJ. playing mostly at the plaza and perhaps a little more downtown and maybe TI. besides blackjack, I'll be doing what any husband does in vegas, try to balance gambling and drinking to excess with not pissing off the wife enough to ruin my chances of getting laid. A tale as old as time.

the wife is getting a massage at the wynn on thursday. we are going over to Resorts World Wednesday night and dinner is planned at Brezza. likely going over to skybar at waldorf astoria after dinner for some cocktails. i really love the view here and fun people watching too. My entertainment will come from watching Brandy walk in heels. seriously even sober it can be a humorous (for me) adventure. Thursday we have a cabana at the Plaza pool.

this will be updated semi live. im trying to keep it simple so I actually follow through with this report. enjoy!

I hope you have an awesome trip! :D

so we're in the air. alarm was set to 545, I awoke at 540 and got the espresso machine on. On working days I'll make the boss a quad (2 doubles) latte but on non working days like today it's a double cappucino.
    20211006_055909.jpg 20211006_060922.jpg 20211006_061322.jpg

im pretty terrible with the bullshit latte art as you can tell. i try, sorta.
I hauled out the one larger suitcase to Patty, my Prius.
    20211006_062822.jpg
Patty was creatively named based on alliteration of course. So when my wife bought her new electric volvo a few months ago one would assume she would be named Vickie. Ha totally wrong! we already have a Vickie in the family! She is our robotic vacuum who I love dearly. Named in honor of the hero of Small Wonder of course.
    Screenshot_20211006-092356_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20211006-092455_Chrome.jpg

So her Volvo was of course named Selma. Like Patty and Selma I also love Macgyver.

I drove to RDU. on shuttle with Brandy and now masked.
    20211006_073120.jpg

Security and the like were uneventful. Jetblue. half empty flight. Oddly only 2 people paid for the exit rows. So being the opportunist that I am I of course told my wife to ask if we could sit there, thinking they needed more able bodies to help get the corpses out in an emergency. The sorta sexy stew' told her that those were paid seats.
While I certainly respect capitalism, I would think they could use more than a guy resembling Uncle Phil and a woman who looks like she thinks she suffers from fibromyalgia to work the two exits rows. I am an expert on safety of course, because I too use Facebook (or as I call it, the book of faces).
Anyways we're in the air. Here's Brandy and my ugly but luckily masked self. See ya in vegas. 20211006_090439.jpg 20211006_090449.jpg

I hope you enjoy my Blink182 concert tshirt from 2002. Still fits.

for those playing along at home, the flight playlist will feature the Naked and Famous, Iron Chic, and then likely some Killers as we descend on to Las Vegas.

Oh good, I’m not the only one. We installed a pool this summer and I named the robotic pool cleaner Polly; Polly Polaris.

so the flight was fine. i worked for most of it, jetblue free wifi was actually solid for 3/4 then shit the bed.
we landed 30 minutes 'early.' hoozah right?! yea we all know what happens next. delayed on the tarmac for I wonder how long.. yes 30 minutes.
    asshats.

tram to get luggage and then a lyft.

we took the lyft to Letty's de Leticia's Cocina, or as I call it, Letty's. tacos. this is legit, authentic tacos in everyone's favorite spot- in the shadow of The STRAT [osphere]. Kiddy corner from the Gamblers General Store. We went here in May and thoroughly enjoyed it.
    20211006_122813.jpg 20211006_122824.jpg 20211006_124424.jpg

We shared 5 al pastor tacos. usually I can eat this amount and then some but it was around 1230 and we have a dinner reservation for 5.
    more to come.

lyft to plaza. the room is a 1 bedroom suite. im not a size queen with rooms so it's whatever for me. with 2 bathrooms Brandy and I do what any married couple would do- I took the bathroom she didn't want.
    20211006_130823.jpg 20211006_130836.jpg 20211006_130856.jpg 20211006_130902.jpg 20211006_130916.jpg 20211006_133316.jpg
I then put on these snazzy new shoes/sneakers I got. Stiff as fůck but gotta break them in at somepoint.
    20211006_134349.jpg
B and I go downstairs. I get my players card at the place you get your players card. In front of me is a gentleman every father dreams that his daughter brings home with this lovely tattoo:
    20211006_135119.jpg

B is bad luck to me gambling. $10 minimum bj table. She hovers to my left as any loving/bored spouse would. I buy in for 500, quickly down 150 playing 15-20 a hand. 'Go away woman!' I think to myself. so we both turn to each other and she gets the hint and makes her way back to the room.
Music wise at the Plaza it's sorta typical 70's 80's cocaine rock. In turn, twilight zone by Golden Earring came on. I fücking love this song. Why? I was born in 85, certainly not my era. But I love the Americans. Probably my favorite show. And this song had a prominent role in one of my favorite episodes.

So the bullets are hitting the wall and while this song plays and I'm rocking out like any 36 year old white guy would, I win every hand while the song is playing. And it's not a short track. I go from down 150 to up 105. 500 buy in, out 605. score brah
    20211006_160612.jpg

    more to come.

back up to the room, it's around 3pm. in the elevator I see someone left what looks to be either milk or perhaps something more sinister.
    20211006_160924.jpg

    cute right?

Check in with the boss and I go back downstairs and play more BJ. Fairly uneventful, win $35 playing an average of $15 a hand. Between now and the previous session I consumed 4 drinks, 2 greyhounds and 2 vodka sodas. My blood alcohol couldn't have been .02. Weak drinks but my evening would make up for it.
Here are some interesting art exihibits the Plazs features, in no particular order:
    20211006_150230.jpg 20211006_160827.jpg 20211006_160758.jpg 20211006_160833.jpg

Back in the room I get Brandy to iron my shirt.
    20211006_161301.jpg
We then venture outside to Lyft it to Resorts World. It's around 430.
    20211006_162314.jpg 20211006_164443.jpg
We stroll around Resorts World and Brandy takes an interest in Gatsbys Cocktail Lounge so she has a pre dinner cocktail there.
    20211006_170021.jpg 20211006_165824.jpg

The lounge is pretty swanky. Next is dinner at Brezza. For those who don't know, Brezza essentially is a recreation of the former Carnevino. The exec chef Nicole Brisson is dry aging beef if you are into that. The menu is italian with a lot of seafood and great pastas.
Being a wine douchè I brought a bottle from home, a 2010 Alban Reva. We bought a bottle of Pecorino
    20211006_165418.jpg
    20211006_175300.jpg

We started with a scallop crudo which was fine. semi yawn.
    20211006_175517.jpg

Next Brandy had a off menu pasta which was spaghetti essentially covered in butter and shaved Burgundy truffles. She was like a pig in shit.
    20211006_180620.jpg

I had a beef cheek ravioli which was great as well. The sauce was a beef liver sauce which was well balanced by a balsamic that was dressed on top
    20211006_180607.jpg

Next we shared a steak and two sides, a spinach and their mashed potatoes. Both sides were great- the spinach still had some structure as opposed to being fully drained of its life (which is usually the case and I don't mind that). The potatoes have marscapone and guanciale added in and yea they're silly rich as you'd imagine.
Steak again was really rich. Just the right amount of too much.
    20211006_182710.jpg 20211006_182719.jpg

Being a bathroom enthusiast below is the shitter in Resorts World followed by Brezza's (or can we call it Brazzers?)

Upon departing Brezza we walk past Wally's where I spot my old pal Michael Rone working (if you go ask for him, genuinely nice mother f'er)
We then spot a show. This sorta sphere thing was really just cool as it gets. Intense music which was the right amount of loud and just gorgeous visuals. We didn't know what was going on but we were digging it.
    20211006_200204.jpg 20211006_200337.jpg

We decide to stretch our legs and Brandy is walking fine in her heels because she unbeknownst to me wore these more comfortable heels. I like the other ones better. We hike it over to TI and take a lyft to Waldorf Astoria for cocktails at Skybar. I of course attempted some upskirt photos on an escalator.
    20211006_202132.jpg

At this point we both had a very healthy buzz. She being the smart one ordered some estrogen type drink and I get a rye manhattan. dumbass. View was nice and we discuss life and contemplate the human condition.
    20211006_210012.jpg 20211006_204242.jpg 20211006_204359.jpg 20211006_211515.jpg

We lyft it back to the Plaza.
Next thing I know it's 515am and I wake up naked. luckily I still have both my kidneys.

Great comeback on blackjack! Thanks for the great reporting so far, let's see some more purple chips :)

Awesome photos of the Plaza suite as well. I have only ever been in those when they were being constructed, when @PlazaPoker took me on a tour of them as I was staying in one of the brand new "base" Luxe rooms. I'm sure you noticed exactly how so many of the "little things" in the Luxe rooms were tweaked to optimize the experience.

Did you end up going to the SIP social hour tonight? I'm glad they brought that back, which obviously couldn't be offered during much of COVID. Can't think of any other Vegas hotel (other than Aria Sky Suites and the Embassy Suites, of course) that offers a comp happy hour for hotel guests!
