Stupid question - do you need proof of a new address to change it at player's clubs?

I am going to be travelling a LOT in 2022. The post office will not hold my mail because I don't have an apartment number so they will only hold mail for the entire address.

My mailbox is pretty small and when I return from longer trips, the casino mail has filled it up and the mailman just starts throwing my mail on the ground. My neighbors pick it up for me. But I just want to maybe stop having my neighbors see my 32984737483 casino mailings. I want to get one of those mail services where the mail gets sent there and they open and scan to you.

As I have been in the same apartment for 23 years, I cannot remember if you need to show anything with a new address on it to change your address with a player's club.

    Anyone?

IIAC they always go by your "official" address on your DL and will not change it unless your DL changes.

You can change your address online, so I don't see why they wouldn't accept it in person. In person they may take your ID address as your permanent address, and change your mailing address to something new.

Just tell them your DL is old. I've moved 3x once in a 18 month period and they were accepting of it. You should have no problem.

I don't know about casino's policy but USPS will hold for 30 days and then deliver it to you, or you pickup at post office. If longer, they will forward to another address. Can you set up with a friend or the service you mention to transfer to them?

Ha -- my first 6-week trip away from home, I stopped my mail at the 2-week mark, figuring I'd have 2 weeks of mail in the mailbox and the 30-day max at the post office.

The post office "lost" the mail, and ever since then, I don't hold my mail anymore.

Now I just let it build up, see USPS Informed Delivery emails to get a preview of what I should see when I return, and expect to see my mail strewn about.

I'm also thinking about changing my casino mail address since that's the bulk of my mail anyway. I checked with Caesars Rewards and they said I don't have to show the new address, I can just show my passport (which doesn't list an address). Don't know about other casinos just yet.

I've never had a player's club refuse to change an address. However, a local CET in my area does insist on putting the wrong DL address on my W-2Gs which I find annoying.

Every casino has a different policy. I know a lot of the downtown casinos will not change an address by phone call, but insist you come into the casino with either a drivers license or some form of government ID with an address.

The most ridiculous "prove your address" story came a few years ago when a former cow-orker built a new house and changed his DL to the new address.

When he went to the final closing on the property, he had, of course, a whole bale of paperwork showing that they did, indeed, own the property and it was ready for occupancy. He figured that on his way back to the office he would stop at DMV and get his DL address changed.

They refused to accept any of the legal paperwork as proof of address. What they wanted were things like a magazine, utility bill, etc., addressed to him at that address.

What they finally accepted was a confirmation note from Cox on an appointment to install phone/cable/internet at that address.

    Go figure!

No. In the past, I've changed addresses. All I need to show was a photo ID and my player's club card to prove that I was who I said that I was.

Held mail a few times, but they still delivered. Complained once at the PO which did not help and they didn't know why things weren't done... Have not complained more as I'm afraid they'll toss my mail in the nearest dumpster.
My solution was to buy a very large/deep mailbox.

A couple years ago, I held my mail for a month and when I returned to pick it up, I also had some mail from 10+ different addresses from neighbors, not even from the same street. I tried getting them back to where they were supposed to go, but after that and then after the post office "lost" another month's worth of mail, I decided to take my chances and not hold anymore.

I sign up using my passport all the time, it's never been an issue using just the address I tell them verbally. Oddly, at the Hard Rock Lake Tahoe of all places they really grilled me for a different type of ID with an address on it... but that's an outlier. Back in 2019 I was at the Bighorn with someone whose only ID was an overseas passport, and they refused it as well... which was the first time I've ever seen a non-DL identification outright declined. I've found the "locals" places tend to assume everybody drives, which I always found a bit weird as a non-driver... but in 99%+ of cases my passport with no address has never been a problem, with the address given verbally.

We have used a Mail Center for over 20 years. I use the address of the Mail center on my drivers license,
    and everything else.
Since it says example, 1234 Main St. # 424 Anytown, State, Zip

It looks like an Apt. address.

All our mail is Delivered to the mail center and held indefiately.
(But if were gone more than a week I let the owner know so if it starts to
overflow, he puts it in a box for me.)
The service is great & I get him a nice Christmas gift every year. :)

It helps to get the Biggest box they have. (costs us about $30 per mo.)
Much better than a POBox. Avoid PO Box if you travel a lot.

Anyway, Thats what we do. Its worked great.
Plus any pkgs are delivered there, instead of our house where porch pirates could take it.

Plus I like the safety of using the Mail Center address.
if our ID was stolen? Or car stolen?
No where is our actual address listed anywhere.;)

Same here, I use my passport card as my primary ID. The only time I've ever had trouble was when I was trying to activate my marker at Aria; nobody's ever questioned the lack of address, but the passport card doesn't have a signature on it. I had to go back up and dig out my actual passport, which does have a space where I signed it.

Doesn't work for places that don't send offers via email.
