We are going to be in town from 11/22 to 11/29 and wondered if anyone else has done Thanksgiving in Vegas and where did you eat? Also any information regarding things to see special around holiday. Never been in Vegas for fall and a little out of element...Thanks!

For about eight years when we lived closer to NV, we would always spend Thanksgiving in Las Vegas or Laughlin. It was a great time to be there with good weather and moderate crowds. There was no pandemic back then, so all the restaurants were open and we had our choice. I specifically recall having the turkey holiday special at Don Vito’s in South Point. I hope you have a great trip!

Wife and I have made that a tradition now for about five years and have always gone to Baja Miguels at South Point. First year we went because we hadn't made any plans and the options were endless and we just wanted something rather simple and quick. We enjoyed it so much we have been back every year since. My wife always goes for the traditional turkey dinner, and I go for the fish alternative. They both come with free margaritas and desserts both are 3 course meals very reasonably priced and quite tasty- we can never finish the amount of food we get. I know a mexican restaurant is a bit un traditional but we really enjoy the experience, quick, easy, and very reasonably priced, They also have theier mexican menu available as well as the thanksgiving special.

Thanksgiving in Vegas is wonderful! Forget buffets for the biggest meal of the year, plenty of restaurants have special menus for this day, some offer them throughout the week.

    Ferraro's does a phenomenal Thanksgiving menu! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vegas24seven.com/ferraros-announces-special-thanksgiving-day-menus-for-nov-25/?amp

I've also eaten at Allegro, Baja Miguel's, and a couple other places for the big day.
Yes!!! That was my first foray into Las Vegas Thanksgiving. My ex and I at the time hadn't made reservations and went here. I was impressed with the yams and whatever Mexican plate we got, and the turkey plate was good too! Not the best, but definitely an option!

As it gets closer, places like Eater Las Vegas and OpenTable will post lists of who's got what for the big week. Definitely make reservations ahead of time!

As far as other things to see, many places start decorating for Christmas sometime around there, and Ethel M's Cactus Garden is cool to check out.

There's also more Christmas festivities at Opportunity Village: https://www.opportunityvillage.org/what-we-do/events/magical-forest

Other off-Strip things like Red Rock and Hoover Dam are cool to see.

And of course....black Friday shopping galore (my favorite part!) at the outlets and shops throughout the Strip!

It's a great time of year to visit, cooler weather, less crowds, lots of great food.... enjoy your trip!

I've been going every year for the past decade or so. The first couple years I'd do actual Thanksgiving back in NYC, but now just come the day before and do dinner here in Vegas. My go-to is Picasso for Thanksgiving dinner; it's candidly one of the weaker meals they serve, but I enjoy the calm, the relaxation, and the opportunity to get dressed up. I'll sometimes try to find some sort of Thanksgiving-style burger (turkey burger, cranberry, stuffing, etc.) for lunch, too.

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday of the year. You don't have to do anything but eat and watch football. There's no religious pretext, no ceremony, just food and TV.

Having spent 30 years in the business, I would recommend going to a higher end place. With staffing problems at present, others will at least have poor employee to guest ratios. At worst, it will be worse! This adds up to a less than stellar dining experience, which is not what you're looking for.
Personally, I avoid going to dinner on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Mother's Day. Why ask for trouble?

I never understood what was so great about turkey. I have it with family on Thanksgiving as part of tradition, but if I was going to a restaurant, I'd rather have a ribeye, filet, or porterhouse, even prime rib. I have to say the same thing about ham on Christmas or Easter. What I like about turkey is making turkey, bacon, stuffing, and gravy club sandwiches the next couple of days, but I can't do that at restaurants.

I've been going for over a decade.
Most places have a special menu item that is a turkey dinner with the extras, if you like that kind of meal.
    Make reservations well in advance.
I think I've had my Thanksgiving meal at almost every high end steak place at one time or another.

I did notice that at times when I've had a large group (> 10), if I didn't have pull in the casino I would not have been able to get a table no matter what, and we're talking about reservations 3 months in advance.

Vegas is usually fairly empty early in the week and picks up Wed night. Not sure how it will be this year. (Last year was the first time I haven't been in over a decade.)

    *** RESERVATIONS ***

We did T-day a few years back and figured we would do a nice buffett to get lots of options. NOPE

It appears nobody in the city cooks that day and all head to the casino. The Bellagio Buffet went past the elevators and down the hall quite a ways.

And with this years staffing issues... good luck.

Remember the staffing problems restaurants everywhere are facing this year. High joints should have decent coverage, but anything lower on the food chain (sorry, I couldn't help myself) will probably make a tough service day tougher.

Going to be in town for Thanksgiving as well. There were a LOT of places closed, but managed to get a reservation at Andiamo.

Plan is to be in town as well and find a restaurant that will do a "family meal to go". Waiting for more restaurants to release their T-Day menus.

This is a good point. Also, higher-end places are likely to have better staff that day. Anyone working a high-end place in Vegas is completely used to doing Thanksgiving early or late in the day, or even another day entirely (if they're even scheduled to work that day -- I know a number of people whose "weekend" is Wednesday/Thursday). By contrast, in NYC, many people who had to work Thanksgiving were pretty resentful about it.

Those and really most. The dollar margin per cover in a a high end place allows for better coverage in general.
In the business, true weekends rarely exist. Experienced bartenders/servers want the busy shifts, which usually means Fri-Sat nights. An exception might be a location catering to an office clientle that only exists for the most part Mon-Fri.
As to resentment, add in NYE. This is another all hands on deck day that most would love to see wiped off the calendar.
