    My Trip Report

Just got back from a quick trip, staying at Resorts World Hilton. This was one of my stupid, checking how much it would be to fly out today and finding a good deal. It was $355 all in for R/T nonstop flights and 2 nights, including taxes and resort fees. I'm a certain kind of idiot who wakes up on Sunday morning without plans and ends up sleeping in Las Vegas. It was a great chance to try RW on the cheap.

    The hotel.

It is really refreshing to arrive to check in and see absolutely no kiosks. The flight got me in at 1am, and the clerk upgraded me to a strip view because the basic room I book was unavailable. Awesome customer service, was in my room on the 32nd floor in maybe 5 minutes. This was the exact opposite of the lobby hellscape of my stay at Harrah's.

The room is small, not Asian city hotel small, but a real step down from Wynn, V/P or Cosmo. It was one of the quietest rooms I can remember. Absolutely no hallway noise and only the most muted sounds from outside. Furnishings were of excellent quality and appear to be designed to be used for years without much visible damage.

Charging ports and AC outlets were all over the place. The left side of the bed had 4 AC outlets, 4 USB ports and a wireless charging spot. The right side of the bed had 2 AC and 2 USB ports. There were even USB ports by the toilet, if you are so inclined.

This room was one of those with the big video wall outside. It was less obtrusive than I feared. There was no noticeable light from the wall, though what should be floor to ceiling windows are covered with a lattice for the lights and only a small "porthole" about a meter square for the unobstructed view.

If you don't look directly down on the ongoing construction, the views are tremendous. You get views of the mountains, great views of the Wynn golf course and all the way down the strip, with the top of Luxor just barely visible in the distance.

The pool is a real highlight. While it isn't the largest in Las Vegas, the experience is really special. All the loungers are spacious, padded loungers like you would have to pay for at most other hotels. No rubber band loungers. There are still daybeds and cabanas to rent, but unless you are looking for a place to hang out with a group, it's not really necessary.

    Flights

Frontier out and Spirit back. Ain't nothing special about it, just cheap and on time. Frontier has marginally nicer seats with actual tray tables, but drinks are a bit more expensive than Spirit. As long as I get to my destination, I can spend 3 1/2 hours in purgatory.

    Observations

Visited north strip properties. Sahara is now very nice. If it wasn't so far north, it would be a place worth staying at. Circus Circus seems somewhat less dilapidated. Looks like some new carpet and a lot a bleach has helped somewhat. Slots A Fun is pretty much the same den of sadness it's been since table games were removed.

Watched Monday Night Football at Bellagio and ended up at Mandalay Bay. Bellagio really needs to redo their screen situation. There is no excuse for 4:3 screens in 2021. MB had great screens and tons of free seating.

Masking was generally enforced if you are playing, but not really enforced if just walking through a property. Most places had mask dispensers at the entrances and being able to get fresh masks and dispose of old ones frequently made wearing masks less annoying.

Flat rates for cabs have increased by a dollar. It was $28 from the airport to RW, but absolutely zero wait and no sketchy routes.

What was sketchy was the Walgreens across from RW. Pretty sure if there is a place to get meth in Las Vegas, the parking lot there is the place to look.

The RW casino is a bit expensive, not terrible, but the multi-line carnival video poker is a minimum of 10 cent, rather than nickels most places have.

    Gambling

Most of the trip was pretty typical. Lose a bit, lose some more, but on Tuesday, AKQJ of clubs showed up, and then the 10 of clubs filled in. First royal in maybe 3 years. Even with food, cab rides, etc, my wallet was only about $70 lighter when I landed at home.

It was nice to get out of town for a couple days, though a red eye home on Spirit is pretty rough. At least neither flight was very full, and the flight attendants were cool about moving to different seats once the flight was airborne. Sorry there's no exciting shenanigans, but I hope the RW report may help people interested in the property.

I appreciate the Spirit info. I've got a flight scheduled with them that is about 2.5 hours long and I've been dreading it, but I can suffer that long.

Congrats on coming home only $70 lighter in the wallet.

Great info! We didn't get to stay at RW this past trip, but spent a day playing slots and drinking at the casino. We loved it. The food court was pretty amazing too (but overpriced at the time). Had a great time at their casino's center bar playing video poker and drinking free cocktails. Definitely going back next time I'm in Vegas.
