I was wondering if people bring an extra device like an iPad or lap top along on a non-working trip. Do you just bring your phone? Are you active on this site while in LV?

I travel everywhere with my phone and laptop. I'll post pics on FB and give updates when I'm traveling to fun places.

Ha, I can't remember the last true "non-working trip" I've had, to Vegas or elsewhere. Generally speaking, I have my personal laptop, my work laptop, and a tablet (I have an Nvidia Shield K1, which I should probably upgrade soon, but I really only use it for Netflix and Ocean's 11 on the plane). Always throws off TSA when it goes through the x-ray machine.

I am definitely active on this site during vacations. I tend to get up early, but it takes me a while to get going in the morning, so I fool around on the internet while caffeinating.

I bring my phone, my personal tablet everywhere.

Most LV trips, I bring my work iPad too. To do a little work while on vacation

I only bring my laptop when it's a work trip.

I always either bring my tablet or laptop thinking that I'll use Video Poker for Winners for strategy or pay table info, but I find myself using them less and less. During my last few LV trips, I've only used my phone to post trip reports on VMB, but I used to upload stuff from my computer.

I always brought along my Walkman. :headbang:

On the last handful of trips I had a smartphone to view and post to VMB.

As a new Vegas resident I've found a smartphone to be very valuable!

my wife brings her tablet every trip. She leaves it out also (charging) while we are not in the room. Never had any problems. If I go midweek, I bring along my laptop to get some work done in the mornings. I leave my laptop out on the desk as well.
If really do not frequent VMB while in Vegas as just too busy doing Vegas stuff to look at my phone that often. only checking my phone for text messages

I bring my laptop for movies and my kindle. I go out for breakfast, then I like to relax in the room late mornings/early afternoons before heading out for the night.

I go on my message boards and other social media when I travel, but I usually do that from my phone anyway.

Always iPad for reading at the pool and not really active on VMB (shame), once tried live TR, but Vegas me is a bum and totally unreliable.

I almost always carry two phones with me, work and personal. Both are web-enabled and have email.

When I would go to LV on business (kinda moot now) I would sometimes carry two computers, my main work laptop and my own smaller "netbook", which I carry on (most) non-work trips (again, mostly moot lately).

Now, when I went to Defcon last month, I carried what's known as a Pi-Top, which is more of a techie/maker toy than a full-strength laptop (it's also bright green, and I did see a couple more of them there, so I know I'm not the only one with that idea), but it does perform like one, with limitations. I took that because it's incredibly easy to wipe it or put it back into a known state by simply swapping out the main disk card. When I got back I simply pulled out the card, put in one that I know is clean, and reformatted the one I was using and I now use that in one of the cameras. :)

I do check here and other boards I frequent when I'm on the road, but I don't post nearly as much.

My iPhone is indispensable on all my trips, but I can do pretty much everything I need to do with my iPad on shorter trips and it's more convenient for watching movies on the flight to/from Vegas. Although if plan to shoot a lot of vacation photos/videos, I'll bring my MacBook Pro along too, since I need the extra storage space to offload my photos/videos from my camera to an SSD drive for editing.

I usually only travel with a phone, iPod and kindle. But I'm going to drop the kindle and replace it with an 11" Chromebook I have. I'm going to attempt a live trip report with it, and maybe use it to access the Daily Racing Form online. It's also a bonus to be able to access all of my streaming services, etc. with it.

I usually just have my android phone, and am usually at least actively posting a live TR. I have had no trouble posting and reading on the cell until my most recent trip when picture upload were constantly uploading successfully but the progress bars were freezing up. I had to edit a gang of posts in my TR last time due to that, but that's the first time I've ever had any problem with VMB on just my cell phone.

I usually bring my work phone, powered off and left in the room, just in case my stay is extended or there is some legit emergency. I have brought my work laptop, same deal, never pulled it out, on trips where I'm supposed to get home at night and work the next morning. Only time I brought a personal laptop, I only turned it on once, and that was to watch something streaming when the TV didnt work or something like that.

iPhone and iPad everywhere I travel. As far as my TRs go, I use my iPhone while out and about and my iPad when I’m winding down in my room to do my daily recap. If WiFi is bad in my room I’ll use my iPhone hotspot - I’ve never had any problems in Vegas with my iPad.

I have a work iPhone and a personal iPhone, a work iPad and a personal iPad, and a work laptop and a personal laptop. The only thing I bring with me to Vegas is both my work and personal iPhone (and a personal Nikon 810 camera with a couple of lenses). For work trips I also bring my work laptop.

Sounds like unless I want to watch downloaded movies (I don't even know how to download movies) or books (I don't know how to download books) there isn't much need for much other than my phone. It is easier to post on VMB on the iPad as it has a real keyboard and I know how to type but I don't know how to get my pictures from my Motorola phone onto the iPad for posting anyway. So, just the phone it is. Keeps packing lighter, too.

AA and United are gradually stripping all of the IFE screens out of their 737s, making a larger screen tablet more of a necessity if you want to access any shows or movies on their planes.
