Oh man, that was our favorite place to go for a respite from the heat. Very sad.

Not just gutted, they've said it was a total loss. I've seen photos with warped steel standing up out of the wreckage, which is never good.

I saw that on my news feed. My DH and I were just talking about going up there on our Oct trip to see if there is any fall color. We've been many times and I'm so sad to see this.

That sucks. It was bought by the owners of Ellis Island a couple years back. Hope they are able to recover from this.

They will rebuild. It will be new and gorgeous. Just give it a couple of years.

I don't think this particular tragedy is due to a wildfire.....

Horribly sad, nonetheless. Mt Charleston Lodge was on my list to-do as well

That’s upsetting, I was going to stop when I was there in July. Told myself next time, guess there won’t be a next time, at least not as it was.

They have dealt with fire before, so I'm hoping that they will be able to rebuild at some point.

Sorry to hear this. I was a frequent visitor before COVID. Liked to stay there and hike the North Loop trail. The bar was pretty fun on a Friday or Saturday. Sorry to see that building gone. I also recently found out that my go to stop between Phoenix and Vegas at Wikieup (Trading Post) was gutted by a fire earlier this year. I do hope, as smerrian said, they rebuild something nice up there.

    Jeesh! That looks serious!

Last time I remember being there was for an Oktoberfest buffet maybe 20 years ago or so.

I've actually been there twice, and both times, there was absolute zero legal parking available anywhere in the area, and thought I'd finally make it at a less popular time later this year!

Did you check behind the lodge as well? I remember parking appearing to be scarce, but there were a number of spots in the rear.

Yep, also drove around the lot for like half an hour the first time hoping someone would leave, then illegally parked on the road side to play in the snow for a bit, but decided I didnt feel comfortable leaving a rental illegally parked long enough to eat lol

Oh, that's sad! So glad we made it there for a Mothers Day brunch in 2016. Hopefully they rebuild.

Sad only made it once. Month of May. It was 85 degrees in strip , drove up to find snow and having to put sweaters and jackets on. Always amazed with temperature swing in an hours drive.

as mentioned, it will be rebuilt and hopefully nice
