Dinner at the bar was very good.

Wedge Salad - I swear this used to come chopped up - I prefer it served this way.

And I ordered a banana crepe pie to go because you KNOW I’m going to want that later.

I typically come up short 46 out of every 47 times that I'm dealt 4 to a royal.

Turned $600 FP into $482.50 and a vodka and root beer at Four Queens. Wandering around turning in tickets because it’s my last night downtown - sniff.

Down $600 today at Cal on ~21,000 coin in. Plus lost $80 slotting around. Going to head over to Boars Head Bar as the cherry on my downtown gambling sundae for the trip.

The digital scratchers are so much more convenient. But I still kind of miss the physical cards.

Wasn’t the minimum $2 on the physical cards? Or had they changed that at some point?

Bittersweet - can confirm that straight flushes no longer get scratchers.

I think the min was $2 if you were playing a quarter machine, but there was a $1 min for a nickel machine.

One night at the Gambling Hall...
    ...followed by two nights downtown

Won $100 at MSS, but then lost $330 slotting around on my way back through Cal. Oops. Can’t win them all - Buffalo Diamond is treacherous.

I think there was mention of $1 scratchers being seen for quarter play late 2019 - early 2020, but they weren’t terribly common… it seems like they are showing up more often :hmmm::oops:

You are correct. I was occasionally getting $1 scratchers, while playing quarters, just before the pandemic so that is not new.

Yeah they probably added more of these into the mix now. Hopefully a few more than $2 as well. When it was $2 minimum that's all people seemed to get. But then again, maybe not because people will almost always passively claim these awards now.

I worry about how many less slot attendants are running the floor with the electronic system.

@eliza I am curious to know how the solo experience was with E'. I am dying to do that dinner and have no problem spending the money on it, but my wife absolutely will not. While she is the least picky eater in her family she is still very selective and won't try things she "doesn't like" even though the new preparation might be something she would love. She has no problem with me going to it solo, but was wondering about the time frame for how long the whole meal takes, how long between courses, and do you find yourself wishing you had someone to talk to.

I love multistrike games. Still the only machines I have hit a royal on.

It took a hair over two hours. That actually was a bit faster paced than I’d prefer for the number of courses - it was a kind of a whirlwind. I suspect that the later seating might be a bit more relaxed with timings. I was never bored - there is so much going on to watch between the chefs plating and the somms. This is my only solo meal in recent memory where my kindle didn’t make an appearance.

One thing that I thought was odd. Upon arrival you are seated at a communal table outside Jaleo, served champagne, and encouraged to get to know your dining companions. Mine were great - another single gal celebrating a birthday, a couple celebrating a birthday, and a group of three colleagues in town for a conference. We developed a pretty good rapport. But then when you get back to the actual dining space each party is divided by plexiglass - so it made conversing a bit difficult. Odd that they don’t bother social distancing at initial table but then do for the rest of the meal.

Bad news guys. As of this morning Jacks or Better have been removed from all bartops at Boars Head Bar. Except for the two Aristocrat machines which have 9/5 jacks. I wonder if I have the dubious distinction of being the last person to play them before they went away.

Met up with @Ty who treated me to lunch at Garden Buffet at MSS. Ty is a gentleman and a scholar. The buffet was fine - a bit less of a selection as pre-pandemic and generally just … buffet food. On a comp (or gold card - my jealousy knows no bounds, Ty) it’s perfectly fine - I don’t think I’d pay it he $19 asking price though. I failed entirely at photos. Off to Rampart to get checked in there, finish up my work for the week, and then head all the way across town to Henderson for uncles birthday celebrations.
