The long road home - Ballys/Lux

I want to write something poetic to start this TR but not much is coming to mind right now except to say the long road home really applies. We last left Vegas 874 LONG days ago. Lots has changed since our last pilgrimage to the motherland, my daughter has graduated from college, we became grandparents, we brought yet another rescue dog into our lives and other misc less milestone type events.

This trip took shape after our late March 2020 fell to pieces for obvious reasons. We wrote off any travel outside the country in 2020 and up until the Canadian mandatory hotel quarantine restrictions were lifted. As soon as I knew that was a reality it was time to book.

What will this TR entail? Let's see.

Where we will stay:
3 nights at Ballys. Jubilee King Strip View.
4 nights at Lux. Tower Premium King Room.

Where we plan on eating:
Bellagio MyVegas buffet BOGO
Peppermill
Mon Ami Gabi (a first for us)
Circus Circus Steakhouse (another first), shout out to @ffejry for this one
Excalibur MyVegas buffet BOGO
Ri Ra (NO trip is complete without this for us)
Nine Five Irishmen

Other misc stops for food but the above are mostly likely

What we plan on doing:
Slots
Drinks
Slots
Drinks
Laying down at least some football action
Fantasy at Lux
(Did I mention drinks and slots)???
Maybe a stop DT

Where we planning on visiting:
Most properties on the strip. We tend to wander from property to property a lot.
Notable here will be a stop by Resorts World (not overly excited about it, but we want to see it).
Our first visit to Ellis Island

You are likely to see lots of blurry pictures that are alcohol induced, also likely more than you fair share of profanity (I do not possess any filter of any sort).

Wheels up tomorrow at 10:15am with any luck. First stop will be Stage Door to stock up on essentials. After that who the hell knows.

Obligatory pictures will follow of the sad faces on our dogs before we leave.

Here is our grand daughter from this past Saturday when we had her for the night. She is perched on my truck having a great look around.




A bit of a teaser of some of the types of pictures you might encounter on this TR. This is my wife on our first night in 2019, I'd say she was 3 sheets to the wind, but it was more like 46 sheets to the wind. In this particular picture she had just sat in an ashtray and I was trying to tell her so. She was telling me that she didn't give a f__k.

Have a great time on your long overdue trip! Enjoy getting back to all your favourite happy places there. I know you'll have the biggest smile on your face once you glimpse the strip when you land in Vegas...then a huge feeling of relief that you're finally back after what seems like forever!

 

Have a great time! My advice for resorts world is go when you're hungry. I was impressed by the high limit lounge but especially the food choices around the casino. I went there just a couple hours before a big dinner reservation, but I wanted to eat all the food. Casino is not bad, pretty big but didnt really strike me as all that special. It does have a lot of slots I didnt see elsewhere on the strip though.

 

Sitting at the gate. Arrived at Pearson a little over 3 hours early. Was able to self check bags and went through the customs hall with just us and 2 border guards. Total time to check in about 20 minutes. Will see if they check test results a little later.

The first beast is Garth, we rescued him (well my daughter adopted him). He is my best buddy. He is waiting to play ball, ball, ball. It isn't ball it MUST be ball ball ball.




The second beast is Cooper. Our rescue beagle. He came into our lives about 5 years ago. We rescued him from a beagle rescue in upstate New York. He is hanging out with his bestest friend Garth.



The pair of them on the floor waiting for cookies. It has taken an awful long time to train the beagle but they now behave so well.


The cat, I call her something entire different, but her name is Musky.



My laptop decided to lose its mind, but I was able to get it apart by using a set of tweezers removing all the screws (boy do you get all sorts of funny looks dissembling a laptop with a pair of tweezers and removing memory chips at a departure gate). Good news is that it is up and running again.

All checked in to Ballys so next stop Vegas.

 

FYI I doubt this TR will be live, especially in the first day as my plan is to consume a completely unhealthy amount of booze in short order (Have I mentioned we like to have drinks and play slots??). However I will try and keep it updated and enjoyable as the bad decisions develop throughout the week.

 

I'm so looking forward to this!! We are Canadians too and arrive in Vegas on the 24th....living vicariously through you until then

Yay yay yay!! looking forward to another Canadian report...........we are scheduled for early October, hubby still not keen. We also have November booked..........really hope we go in October. Have fun!!
