Reno was everyone’s jam in the 80’s and 90’s...congratulations on being alive long enough to see it hit the skids.

Played a little Wonka with several small bonuses. Gave some back at Walking Dead II. Overall +$15 on the day. About time to pack up and check out.

My kid loves to eat. So instead of a toy he's getting a pizza from Circus Circus. He'll love it!

30/8/5 Bonus is 98.48% But looks like you found "traditional" 8/5 Bonus soon enough.

Nice trip! Have a save drive home!

Fitzgerald's, Harold's Club, Harrah's, Prima Donna, Nevada Club ~ oh, man. I mourn for the good old days. I cut my gambling teeth at Harold's Club in the early 70s.

My buddy was/is a sign painter who worked on that sign and drove around putting up Harold's Club Or Bust signs on roads leading to Reno.

I love that mural outside of Harold's. lt was the first casino I ever played it. It was part of a junket flight from the SF Bay area.

I'd forgotten about that mural. Classic! Harold's reminds of playing nickel slots with my Mom, 1 nickel at a time, on the old mechanical 3-reels.

Back at home. Thanks for following along! Next trip planed for the first weekend in November, hopefully Vegas, maybe Reno. I'll leave you with smoky sunset pic from I-80 between Sacramento and Davis.

Thanks for the updates. $25 craps at Eldarado? I wasn't expecting that. I figured Reno would have pretty cheap table games. Heading to Reno for work in 2 weeks. Any idea who has the cheapest tables?

Thanks for the report. I’ll be staying at ElDorado this Friday and Saturday. If I could ask a few questions, as I’ve never been to Reno.

How was the smoke? Both outside and inside the casinos.

What was it like walking around outside the casinos? Seem safe? Sketchy characters?

Any specific places you recommend checking out in the Row casinos?

    Thanks!

I was surprised at the $25 minimum too being in Reno. That was Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday afternoon at both Silver Legacy and El Dorado. I didn't check the table limits in the mornings. There was no craps at Circus Circus or Cal Neva. Western Village in Sparks doesn't have tables. I haven't been to any other casinos since the pandemic started so I'm not sure about table limits elsewhere in Reno. I didn't look at BJ table limits either but I did notice some tables where players were betting red chips. I didn't look close enough to see if it was $10 or $15.

The smoke outside was definitely noticeable but not really bad. I could smell it and it shrouded the mountain views in the distance. There was the Caldor Fire to the south of Tahoe/Reno and the Dixie Fire to the north burning at the time. Living in CA, wildfire smoke is something we've kind of gotten used to in the summer and fall unfortunately. Being an ex cigarette smoker and and occasional cigar smoker, I don't really notice or mind the second had cigarette smoke. I didn't notice any marijuana smoke inside the casinos.

The only walking around I did outside was to and from the Circus Circus garage and a Saturday afternoon walk from the Row casinos down to the Cal Neva which was about a block. Cal Neva is older and not as nice at the Row joints. There was no one loitering around the CC garage. There were a few people who looked a little down and out between El Dorado and Cal Neva, but I didn't at all feel concerned about my safety. The three Row casinos are all connected so you never have to walk outside unless you want to.

There is live music at the lounge in the middle of the Silver Legacy casino. Depending on who's playing and what you like, it might be a place to relax, have a drink and people watch/socialize. I'm sure there are other entertainment options, but it's not something I paid attention to...sorry. I ate at Brew Brothers (El Dorado) which is a good brew pub. I ate a El Jefe's (Circus Circus) for Mexican food, but they tried to "fancy" it up too much, IMO. I prefer more of a traditional Mexican restaurant. I think Cafe Central at Silver Legacy is a solid 24 hour restaurant, but I did notice quite a line to get in there at 4 PM Saturday. The late night food I got to go there was very good. I wanted to try Roxy at El Dorado for a nice dinner, but didn't make time for it. Millie's at El Dorado is a solid breakfast place that I've eaten at before but not this trip. There are lots of other dining options in the three casinos too. If you like baseball, the Reno Aces ballpark (Diamondbacks minor league team) is a few blocks away. Also a few blocks away is the river walk area where the Truckee River runs through downtown which used to be a nice place to stroll and there was a Cinemark movie theater there too, but I haven't walked down there for several years so don't know what it's like now.

So funny to see those modern games in Cal-Neva! My memories of the place from the early-mid 90s were that it looked like 1958 in there.

Barring something unforeseen happening over the next few days, the skies are mostly blue and sunny again here in the Reno area. Yes... the Dixie fire to the north by the Susanville area is still burning and so is the Caldor fire, but both are substantially contained and smoke hasn't been an issue for the past several days. Temps are expected to be in the low 80's/high 70's for the weekend and SUNNY!

Uh Ohhhhh… spoke too soon. Dixie Fire smoke is making today (Tuesday) awfully hazy. Nothing like a couple weeks ago, but not the blue-skies I promised. Hope it clears up for your trip.
